  Roughneck on an oil service rig. Pay was great but it was dirty and dangerous and a mean crew of workers.

  I was 100 feet in the air and I smelled pot smoke one day. I quit on the spot.

  FFA - 4H - Conscious matter or not allowed?

  i was baptized 4 years ago, i have 2 little girls who love their bunnies, so this year we reached out to 4h and started our own 4h group - this was after asking the elders for counsel.

  none provided.

  now after doing this for 3 months i am being brought before a judicial committee for neutrality.

  I think you should question of stupidity of the needless legalisms of this self proclaimed channel to God.

  Effecting your relationship with Jehovah lol. Good one.

  If the history of doctoral flip flops, questionable NWT and basically building an entire theology on the book of revelations and idolatrous worship of the governing body doesn't effect your relationship with God, don't worry about 4H.

  Essentially they are just teaching what made in America evangelical Christians have been teaching just replacing themselves with the modern day state of Israel.

  Has anyone else had people in their congs leave to pioneer in Israel?

  Man its pathetic devoting your life to converting jews into jehovah witnesses so you can put them in harms way to fulfill some kind of watchtower dogma. I really hope Israel bans them just like Russia did.

  What woke you up?

  for me, i think it was just the right time as i was starting to wake up on other fronts as well (anyone who had went through these will know what i mean).

  but it started when i was looking for what info goes on a publisher card, which led to me reading one person's story (ex bethelite) which was pretty crazy to an all-in jw but who trusts those apostates...?.

  then i started watching videos on cults, as if my subconscious was trying to tell my concord mind something... when i saw a particular one about a young man in lds getting ready to start their 2 year preaching campaign, including a school, social activities etc, i realized that i couldn't tell the difference between the folks of this mormon cult and the jws (save for some religious differences) .

  I read a book called " the two powers in heaven" by a man named Allan Sagel.

  Without going into to much detail it basically explained who new testament writer thought Jesus was , using the old testament and intertestmental books as reference. It wasn't even anti watchtower. It was just basic bible theology.

  Its really quite simple. It's doesn't matter if you are Christian or not.

  The watchtower was essentially the nonsense after that. It's just a complex twisted bamboozle to disprove easy concepts.

  Mind you I was only a study.

  The Bible says Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God so I just assume he looks like the concept of what Jesus looks like. In most near death experiences people report seeing a Jesus type figure. Essentially Jesus is the avatar of God.

  This idea for some reason doesn't seem to register with jehovah witnesses for some reason.

  KISS - Knights In Satan's Service

  growing up as a jw, i was told that kiss stood for knights in satan's system (or service).. i just did a google search and learned it's not true.

  it's actually not an acronym for anything.. to be honest, apparently it's not just the jws who believe it means something related to satan.. http://www.snopes.com/music/hidden/kiss.asp.

  one day paul [stanley] and peter [criss] and i were driving around, brainstorming for new names.

  I saw an interview with Peter Chris once asking if Kiss were a satanists. He replied " last I checked were are still two jews, a Lutheran and a Catholic ".

  I was raised in the church and Kiss was public enemy number one. It's wasn't till was nearly 40 I realized they were about as scary as the beach boys. My office mate listened to them over and over.
  

  Essentially they were just a pop act disguised as rock and roll. I wouldn't even call them metal . They have never gotten much respect from radio or even there musical peers. Gene and Paul never cared as long as they got paid.

  How long has the WTS just been either legalistic nonsense or revelations based rubbish.

  Is it me or is it getting worse? It must be incredibly strange for any outsider to attend a meeting. Especially for anyone coming from a Christian upbringing.

  hello everyone, it's been a while since i've posted anything on here so i thought i might give an update.

  next month i turn 18 and my mom is constantly berating me about getting baptized, so much so that my siblings have even told her to stop.

  ive just been flat out telling her no which i know is irritating her.

  The idea of a blood transfusion tends to give me the creeps . Not that i would die over it but still, all the junk science breaks you down and especially with those aids related deaths in the early 80s.

  Elder "D": Catholics No Longer Believe in a Trinity

  so in this topic, i mentioned i had a conversation with an elder "d." this elder said that the catholic church admitted the trinity is unscriptural.

  i'm pretty sure this is not true.

  the doctrine of trinity is the most fundamental belief in the catholic church.

  The idea of a bi unity of Jesus and God comes out of the old testament and the generally idea what new testament writers believed about Jesus. I don't feel like writing another essay about it but it's generally pretty simple.

  It's not some Devine revelation bullshit like the watchtower teaches but a matter of understanding old testaments quotes and ideas used in the new testament.

  I really don't know why they think they have such a slam dunk on the subject.
