Wow!! I got a lot of interesting points on this one.
O_U_T: Gotta agree I think I could argue endlessly too about true perfection and we'd get nowhere.
Carmel: If perfection is relative maybe your relatives are perfect arsholes... I know some of my relatives say that about me...relatively speaking
Shotgun: These people you mentioned are perfect examples of human imperfections. Is true perfection only to be found in the innocence of new born babes? Pity the God that threatens to destroy them at Armegeddon.
Zen: Good points. Only if I think I'm defective would I strive for a pipe dream of perfection. I'm not defective but lifwe ain't perfect either.
JH: If I were to comply 100% with what God said then I would lose my free will. I would in effect become a perfect parrot or robot. No thanks.
I think the best point of all is by Narkissos. I thought that after 27 years away from Kingdom Halls I had managed to erase all traces of WTS theology. Obviously not. I guess the WTS is the perfect brainwasher.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses becoming a brand name?
by truthseeker inever since the society split into 3 corporations back in october 2000, it seems to me that the phrase "published by jehovah's witnesses" is appearing on almost every publication they produce, as opposed to the old "watchtower bible & tract society of pennsylvania".
last week, i was looking on the back of the new "learn from the great teacher" cd folder.
it suddenly occured to me, that this religion really is a business.

I wish I could get 6,000,000 people to spend just a $1.00 per month to read my posts, ech and every month
Once you get them, try talking them into helping you build-up your real estate portfolio by getting them to supply the free labour to build your kingdom halls; when they've got time free from hawking your literature door-to-door.

Elvis - King or Not King?
by dh inis elvis the king or what!
i spent yesterday evening listening to a double elvis album i got yesterday, 25+ tracks per cd!!!
it has alllllllllll the tunes i grew up listening to as lp's, (my mom's lp's i might add) and i gotta say, memories, reminded me of my whole life, what awesome music.. now i know that nobody can compete with elvis, but i thought i would ask for a show of hands all the same.. elvis - king or not king?.

Simon,
That's an awesome tune. One can wonder where music would have gone if Buddy Holly hadn't died. My vote for kings go to the four lads from Liverpool:
The halftime air was sweet perfume,
The sargeants played a marching tune,
We all got up to dance,
But we never got the chance...

This means that the Adamic Paradise* operated on the "Drone" theory... effectively making the only person who enjoyed "paradise" the deity who created the system
I've always pictured an Adam without the knowledge of good and evil to be more like a well-trained Labrador Retreiver. He would know that to disobey his master is bad without knowing why. I fail to see the perfection in this state.

Will there be winter in the new system?
by Atilla inso much snow this winter, but it reminds me of the silly conversations we would have out in service about conditions in the new system.
this one guy, who thought he knew everything because he had been to bethel and had been pioneering since the 9th grade, was positive that there would be no winter in the new system.
his reasoning was that since the whole earth would be made into a paradise with perfect conditions, there would be no real cold places like russia or even central pennsylvania.

Elsewhere,
Your answer reminds me of the Robin Williams movie "What Dreams may Come". In it everyone's individual heaven is defined by their own mind.
I can also accept Talesin's idea that a personal perfection is being the best you can be be, and probably actual perfection is unattainable; just don't mention that to Olympic judges.
I can't accept being complete as being perfect. When Adam was perfect he was incomplete, he lacked the knowledge of good and evil.

Supposedly Adam was perfect, Jesus was perfect; and witnesses hope to be perfect in the New System. But what does perfection mean. Is it a physical state or is it freedom from sin? Or is there some other meaning that's eluding me?

Favorite childhood TV shows
by Nosferatu innow, i'm not referring to sesame street, mr. rogers, or any of the educational kids' shows.
i'm talking about the ones for pure entertainment, cartoons and such.
however, i can't really classify this as purely cartoons since some of you might have watched things like hr pufnstuf.. i grew up in the 1980s, when the magic of saturday morning cartoons existed.

There ARE Times When ..
by Englishman in..only a pot noodle will do.. but afterwards, i always feel so... .
thing is, we're really good about about eating healthy stuff.
black pudding, hedgehog baked in mud, steak & kidney pie..but what is it that gets the old taste buds going, then afterwards it leaves your mouth feeling like the bottom of a parrots cage?.
