For me too it was a slow process. I had no major epiphany, it was just a slow realization that this wasn't how I wanted to spend my life. I just f-f-faded away.

Saturday's Quote of the Day
by codeblue in.
your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life.

Codeblue,
That quote is a variation on JFK's 'Ask not what your country can do for you...' speech. Always good words to live by.

Will,
My answer to the search for truth reflects my attitude of skepticism to all matters regarding theology or philosophy. Somewhere along the line I became the jaded nihilist, I've got no time for anyone who has all the answers... that includes Dr. Phil.
BTW I checked my messages.

Uplifting music
by El blanko inhi there and good day to you all .... i purchased an album yesterday which has just been released called immortal memory by lisa gerrard & patrick cassidy, it really is beautiful in places and has a certain uplifting meloncholy throughout.
i know that sounds contradictory, but really, the first few tracks really tug at the heart strings.. if you need an aural and highly textured experience, this album is worth going for.
it really helped lift my mood and is playing in the background as i work.. one track features the lords prayer sung in aramaic taken from the peshitta version of the holy scriptures.. if you do not know who lisa gerrard is, she used to sing with a group called dead can dance and is probably most noted for her vocal work in the film gladiator.

What does perfect mean??
by Sargon insupposedly adam was perfect, jesus was perfect; and witnesses hope to be perfect in the new system.
but what does perfection mean.
is it a physical state or is it freedom from sin?

Wow!! I got a lot of interesting points on this one.
O_U_T: Gotta agree I think I could argue endlessly too about true perfection and we'd get nowhere.
Carmel: If perfection is relative maybe your relatives are perfect arsholes... I know some of my relatives say that about me...relatively speaking
Shotgun: These people you mentioned are perfect examples of human imperfections. Is true perfection only to be found in the innocence of new born babes? Pity the God that threatens to destroy them at Armegeddon.
Zen: Good points. Only if I think I'm defective would I strive for a pipe dream of perfection. I'm not defective but lifwe ain't perfect either.
JH: If I were to comply 100% with what God said then I would lose my free will. I would in effect become a perfect parrot or robot. No thanks.
I think the best point of all is by Narkissos. I thought that after 27 years away from Kingdom Halls I had managed to erase all traces of WTS theology. Obviously not. I guess the WTS is the perfect brainwasher.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses becoming a brand name?
by truthseeker inever since the society split into 3 corporations back in october 2000, it seems to me that the phrase "published by jehovah's witnesses" is appearing on almost every publication they produce, as opposed to the old "watchtower bible & tract society of pennsylvania".
last week, i was looking on the back of the new "learn from the great teacher" cd folder.
it suddenly occured to me, that this religion really is a business.

I wish I could get 6,000,000 people to spend just a $1.00 per month to read my posts, ech and every month
Once you get them, try talking them into helping you build-up your real estate portfolio by getting them to supply the free labour to build your kingdom halls; when they've got time free from hawking your literature door-to-door.
