Personally i think it's all a bunch of crap. Give me enough beers and I can see the Beatles start moving on my poster: if I put on a Beatles cd I can actually see a Beatles concert in my living room. Does this mean it actually happened?

Who determined which Bible books are inspired?
by VM44 in"the bible is the inspired word of god.
"holy spirit came upon men who then wrote the various books that make up the bible.
what was the criteria for determining if a given piece of writing, such as the books matthew, mark, luke, john and acts, or letters, such as the ones written by paul, were inspired?

here's a gem that didn't make it into the bible as composed at the council of Nicea; it's from the Gospel of Thomas:
Jesus said, "the kingdom of the father is like a certain woman who was carrying a jar full of meal. While she was walking on the road...the handle of the jar broke and the meal emptied out behind her on the road. She did not realize it; she had noticed no accident. When she reached her house, she set the jar down and found it empty." (saying 97)
If they'd included all the gospels about Jesus' life that were floating around in 325, people back then would have realized it was all a bunch of crap. Instead, they culled the information; keeping only what books aided in keeping the people in subjection to their new Christian Emporer and the Bishop of Rome. We've been duped by the conspiricy ever since.

Simwitness:
You beat me to it. It is interesting to note that following the council of 325, all Gospels that didn't coincide with their preconceived notions of christiabity were sought out and destroyed.

I stopped worrying about things that i'll never get an answer to before I die. When people ask me those big questions like:
How did we get here?
How was the world created?
I just shrug my shoulders. Why should I waste my limited time on this earth worrying about things that will not be decided in my lifetime. If i've adopted any form of siritualism or religion it would be called cantgivearatsassivism.

Governing Buzzards - Part 4 - Who really introduced the Sword of War?
by Amazing inpart 4 - who really introduced the sword of war?
peace is supposed to be a central feature of watchtower theology ?
a peaceful paradise earth ?

Another amazing post!! I've always disagreed with religions who try to portray Jehovah as a peaceful god. His actions certainly give lie to that theory.
I especially like the points you made about swords not having been invented at that point in man's history. keep up the good work!!

Were YOU Considered A "Good Example" In The Congregation???
by minimus inor were you considered "weak"?

I was always a 'good example' of the type of teen-ager parents didn't want their children to associate with. Seriously, I didn't form any friendships with people my age at the Kingdom Hall I was always nan outsider.

What do you say when the Mormons come by?
by MegaDude injust got through having a conversation with two mormons going door to door on this cold saturday here in fort worth, texas.
damn, they remind me so much of jehovah's witnesses it isn't even funny: the same zeal, the same conviction, the same confidence.
as a matter of fact, they seemed a lot more of all these things.

You've reminded me of a time when they did come by when I was half in the bag...
I invited them in and told them I've been giving alot of thought to religion lately. I said "hang on guys while I grab my coat, I'm coming with you. Let's go Knock some doors... " (by now these two are pretty stunned)
"Seriously guys, I'm converted lets go share our beleifs... I'm a bloody mormon now too."
You've never seen two mormon elders high-tail it as fast as these did, and they've never been back. it always amazes me with the mormons how they send out kids just out of high-school all with labels identifying them as elders.

The Trinity in the Old Testament
by hooberus in"and god said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
" genesis 1:26 .
note the plural "our image", "our likeness" yet from other verses it is clear that man was created in gods image and likeness (singular).. "so god created man in his own image, in the image of god created he him; male and female created he them.

When Queen Victoria said "We are not amused!":
Did that make her a trinity too?
