for those of you in other countries who have the mistaken belief that the canadian political scene is fair and just let me explain about what is happening in my home province of ontario at this time.. our provincial government is in the process of derugulating the hydro industry.

at present this has only affected the distribution network.

the government wants to sell the production facilities.

What's the difference between church and big macs

walking by my local church, there was a big sign advertising this weekends easter celebrations.

the sign said 'all denominations welcome'.

that's good, i wonder if they take plastic.. the local mcdonalds won't accept $50 or $100 bills.

Who wrote Genesis?

years ago i recall hearing theories that the first five books of the bible may not have been written by moses, and that in fact they may have had several different writers.

i know that the wts's stance on this is that moses did actually write these books.

reading my bible this morning, i came across a couple of passages wich may indicate that genesis did have at least two different authors.. following the death of his father, abram was commanded by his god to leave haran.

wow, i just had one heck of a dream (or was it a vision?).

imagine this folks...the wts as an ocean going vessal.

the captain of this ship is the governing body, the crew are the bethelites and all those overseers, and the passengers are the congregations of jw's.. ok, this ship has been sailing calmy for many years, but lately it has taken on a pretty hefty cargo.

Electronic Mind Control

there is a lady who stands outside our local shopping mall, right next to the jw's, with a sign warning against electronic mind control.

she wears an old english army helmet, circa colonial days in india, presumably to protect her brain from harmful government generated electronic rays.

no-one pays her any more attention than we do the dubs.. there is an organization that claims that for the last 50 years, governments have been using "electronic mind weapons" to:.

Another NWT Mistranslation?

ok, this post isn't out to prove anything, other than i've got too much time on my hands, which alot of you know that already.. over my morning coffee this morning i decided to read the section of the bible dealing with nimrod and the tower of babel.

i have two bibles at home the nwt and the new american standard.

'The Truth" about the Golden Rule

even though i ceased believing in the christian god many years ago, i've always thought that the golden rule contained in the sermon on the mount, was the perfect philosophy.

you know, do unto others.... i was quite surprised when i discovered that these words were not original to jesus and were in fact already contained in the talmud.. rabbi hillel, who died somewhere between 10 & 25 ce had written "do not unto others what you would not have others do unto you" sab 31a.

still good words to live by, but not original to jesus as the bible would have you believe.

My thoughts on the flood

i know that the flood has been discussed ad-nauseum on this site, but i only just got a copy of the march 1, 2002 wt and figured i'd put my .

2cents worth in.

besides that with this posting i become a senior member so i thought i'd say something semi-intelligent for a change.. the wt with it's ever circular reasoning concludes that because so many societies have a flood myth, and because they all have many points in common, that this corroborates the bibles ancient testimony.. on page 4 of this wt, there is a chart denoting the similarities of many of these myths.

national pride-double gold

i saw the thread the other day on national pride, and i didn't put my 2 cents worth in until today.

we just won double gold on the hockey rink, and it feels good to be canadian.

hockey is part of our national identity and all i can say is: go canada go.
