There’s some good articles on the web that discuss this, but the bottom line is would a god who forbids his people to wear cloth woven from two different yarns, or to sow a field with two different types of seed, or use a plough with two different types of animal etc, be happy to have them use a name that is an amalgamation to the sacred Tetragrammaton and a title used for every false god under the sun, as well as imperfect humans? Leviticus 19:19, Deuteronomy 22:9

Okay, we are not under the Mosaic law now, but I think our Heavenly Father made his feelings understood on this matter.

There is a reason why no-one on earth today knows God’s name, more than one good reason, but the fact is that Jehovah’s Witnesses even by their very use of the name ‘Jehovah’ prove they are not his ‘special’ people entrusted with divine truth.

Jehovahs Witnesses have a very strong hold over the minds of people that gave their hearts and minds over to them, personally I believe ‘they worship what they do not know’, yet I was one for over 60 years!

jw kids lives are already miserable enough trying to obey all the ignorant rules of the wt.. no sports, no school dance, no holidays.... just field service.

as if that isn't enough.... let's take away their puppy dogs too!.

not in print even in the early 60’s, but an interpretation convenient to themselves of an article in a Watchtower in the 50’s about Christians should not be wearing apparel of the opposite sex.

My mother was a violent woman and became a JW when I was about 12 years old, she was also violent with a short fuse. She justified her attacks on me by saying I was a problem child. There were occasions when she claimed that I was demonised and that the demons were persecuting her by means of me! I asked a sister who was the wife of a book study servant if this could be true, she said “yes, possibly “. Can you imagine what good that did me?

I used to spend my free time at a local stable mucking out, grooming, cleaning tack etc. Loved being around animals, who were a lot kinder than humans,- still find it hard these 60 years later to trust humans.

I was a guilt- ridden messed up individual trying against all odds for all of these 60 years later, never found real friends among them.

They are vindictive.

They feel the need to justify themselves as being the ‘only true Christian’s’ on the planet, consider that the rest of us are misled and need converting or that we are incorrigible and deserving of destruction, - either way it makes them feel better to tell us about it.

The principles laid down in the sermon on the mount are totally lost on them!

And they can also count time, perhaps?

Thinking about things, the stuff about ‘No females to wear jeans etc’ and ‘No riding of horses by females’ was probably local to the U.K., - can’t imagine anyone in USA, Canada, Australia and the likes and living/working on a ranch or farm would swallow that line of reasoning. However, being in my teens and being that the wonderful worldwide web had not yet been invented, I miserably had to endure the naggings.

Well I came on here a bit depressed today, but you lot have certainly cheered me up and made me smile.

They did a similar article on cats, I remember, and didn’t they say not to let pets in the room if a book study group was in session?

I just know I should have gone then, or before in the 60’s when they said females wouldn’t be allowed to wear jeans or ride horses in the ‘new system’

It’s because love-bombing makes them feel good about themselves, also because they perceive it to be a good advert about themselves, as M.M.M says like the McDonalds adverts.

I came to this conclusion too, a few years ago.

When I tried explaining it to people (JWs), they just looked at me like I was mad. Perhaps because infinity it is beyond the imagination of many people, that this fact has not been mentioned before.

All that exists must exist within him, otherwise it is bigger than he is?

i know who won't be saved according to witnesses and that includes just about everyone alive at armageddon who is not a jehovah’s witness.

others who are permanently lost include adam and eve, those who died in the flood, people of sodom and gomorrah and apostates to their one true religion..

I love your reasoning on this subject, although I completely have faith in God, personally I find it hard sometimes to believe Yeshua would want to save me, - but what you say is logical, and very helpful to me.

Long Hair Girl, I believe you are absolutely correct on this one. No-one can force someone to not shun another person, deep emotions, whatever they are, are certainly involved.

After 60 years of being one of JWs, (was not born in either), I have observed that many if not most Jehovah’s witnesses see a disfellowshipped person as one who ranks alongside Judas Iscariot, - a traitor to the cause, - as someone who has walked away from everything that is true, noble upright etc, to go pursue their own selfish course in life. Someone who has betrayed them and their god.

For the record, I never ostracised or shunned anyone in my life, it never seemed a Christian thing to do, and I know there were others that felt the same as myself including some very old-timers who were from the Bible Student era.

Now that I no longer associate at all, I find myself tending to shun them, I am gradually albeit if slowly, building friendships with people that seem more kind and charitable than most Witnesses I have known in the last few decades. (Elderly husband still in, sadly)

However, publicity about their shunning practice cannot go amiss as it will hopefully alert any prospective Bible studies before they commit themselves.
