  Governing Body; Villians or just Deluded?

  are you sometimes dumbfounded at the direction the governing body takes?.

  thousands of documents proving 607 bce is wrong, yet the gb sticks to the date, why?.

  If you live in a bubble (aka Bethel), and no one ever provides you with information from a different perspective, and if anyone contradicting "the truth" is at best "disloyal" and at worst an "apostate"....

  It is in fact quite easy to believe your own delusions.

  And, in the case where somehow something does get through that provides evidence that it's all horse-puckey:

  -- "if I rock the boat, I'll get expelled from Bethel and DF'ed. I'm [60+] years old with no practical work experience or skills, no savings, no retirement fund. My life quite literally depends on me never getting DF'ed. So..."

  Watchower and BMG agreed confidential settlement ?

  i just read that watchtower pennsylvania and bmg music ave agreed to a confidential settlement .

  about "listen,obey and be blessed" by aled jones ?

  anybody have more information ?

  Has anyone still in or otherwise heard anything about JWs think we only have 12 months before Armageddon?

  i’ve noticed a change in family attitude recently, like there is just something extra on their mind.

  i even had to call my brother to check if he was dying and too scared to tell me.

  anyway, i saw a video last night my saying jws think we only have 12 months left before armageddon so thought maybe this is the reason for changes attitude.

  Seriously, when my parents were baptised in the 1940's, they were told that their Little George would not have to go to school in this old system.

  In a previous congregation, we had a guy who made a deathbed promise to his mother - in the late 1930's - that he would never marry "in this system" because Armageddon was so close.

  Guy was still a member of the congregation - and still single - 60+ years later.

  One of the saddest things I think I've ever seen was when he showed me a faded black & white picture of his sweetheart from 60 or 65 years earlier.

  USA, fuggedaboutit. Totally and completely verboten.

  Elsewhere, maybe. In some Scandinavian countries, full beards (well trimmed) are OK, but not for assembly or convention speakers. I would imagine a well-trimmed goatee would also be OK.

  i think the excellent thread on the wandering jews having to defecate outside the camp could have explored further implications, such as animal faeces, and also the fact that when women are in a group they cycle (menstruate) together.

  imagine what the place was like with their attitude towards a menstruating woman, or with the disposal of the "rags".how did they dispose of all the placentas, etc.

  ?where are the skeletons of the millions of people and animals?

  Just popping in to note how fascinatingly close the attitude and reasoning of anti-vax proponents on this site parallels the anti-vax attitude and reasoning of literally one century ago, as (tying in the JW connection for this JW board) written up extensively in the "Golden Age" magazines from (yes) a full century ago.

  Perhaps a few radio biola treatments will prevent or cure COVID?

  the sunday speaker was one of those very smooth younger ones with the "look".

  store bought haircut and a very pretty wife ( the kind that makeup isn't needed, side point).. i tongue tied a comment to my wife about maybe he was a bethelite who was reassigned and said bethelout by mistake.

  i like the word.

  Oh, the "my career path is to be a JW Broadcasting superstar within 20 years, then move up to GB helper, then maybe I can get onto the GB at an age even younger than Sanderson was" look?

  Non Believers, how do you respond ?

  i recently had this in a message from a jw, a lovely person, but mind controlled, he wrote " a life without hope is no life for me".. how should i respond to that ?

  i am an atheist, but want to respond in as kindly a way as possible.. i was thinking along the lies of saying i got no comfort from what i knew to be false hope, but need to say it in a kindly way.. ideas please ?.

  What if that "hope" is demonstrably false and in fact impossible?
