what do people usually think of when they buy a house?

"i will probably live here for a long time" (you're invested with your time), "i will save money by building equity over time".

(you've invested in yourself financially for the long run) of course, i wouldn't be able to list the numerous reasons why people want to buy a house.

Depends on which JW you talk to.

Some JWs are fairly wealthy, some very wealthy. Ask one of them, and you will get their blessing.

Other JWs are of moderate means, or poor, and could not afford to buy real estate. Ask one of them, and the most likely response will be one of personal pride, how they are keeping their lives simple and "pursuing Kingdom interests first", and if you were wise, you'd do the same.

It also may well depend on which country the JW resides in. In the US, where owning your own home is deeply ingrained into the culture, most JWs would have no issue. In, say, Germany or Switzerland, well half or more of the population rent their homes, there may be a more negative response.

The witnesses will answer: Those Wicked Angels care nothing for anyone else. They are far to selfish to care about their children.

But...but....but....

I heard from "good JWs" that the reason Halloween exists is that it's the day that the demons mourn their nephilim children who perished in the flood (some bright-bulb JW apparently calculated that the flood started on November 1), and so they terrorize humanity because....well....the explanation sort of breaks down there, but it's definitely because that's the day the nephilim died!

This is all bible based (TM).

You've obviously never seen a James Bond film. The baddies always keep the hero around long enough for him to hatch an escape plan.

i remember one of the flowchart responses to people questioning the biblical flood was something along the lines that "every culture has a flood story".. of course, nearly everywhere has flooded at one time or another and we know there are minor floods and then there are the 1-in-1000 year kind of weather event, that tend to get a mention (anyone from the uk will still talk about the summer of '76, and that's probably nothing in comparison to a decent flood).. but the inference is that the flood must be real, because every culture has a flood story.. the best response is "now do dragons".. because apparently, nearly every culture also has a dragon legend.. does it mean dragons exist?

some desperate jw may show their ignorance by suggesting that man lived at the same time as dinosaurs and they are what the stories were based on.

fun fact: stegosaurus was a fossil when t-rex was alive for longer than it's been since t-rex has been a fossil to us - we're talking old, and no overlap (ignore the map in the cover of the old green bible).. do jws still even bother trying to defend the cray-cray aesop-fable kind of ot beliefs?.

Wowsers! It's really.....something.

I especially liked the part about how Moses wrote the book of Genesis in Egyptian hieroglyphics and Ezra, not understanding them, screwed up the translation. Most of the book is far less entertaining, alas.

Inactive after 6 months: where is it written?

i cannot find written anywhere that after 6 months without preaching activities reported you are considered an inactive jw.. where is this written?

or is it a non-written rule?.

It's scattered about here and there. The latest reference is in the June 2020 WT, page 18, footnote to paragraph 2.

EXPRESSION EXPLAINED: An inactive publisher is someone who has not reported any activity in the preaching and disciple-making work for six months or more. Even so, inactive ones are still our brothers and sisters, and we love them.

Back to the Meetings------Back to Covid.

a lot of pimos are reporting that returning to the meetings is backfiring in that covid is spreading among the members returning.. post;.

so last saturday was my first meeting back in person and well it completely backfired.

last night i got a text from my group overseer saying that someone in the hall tested positive for covid and that we need to get tested(great 🎉).. honestly i kinda expected this.

Wait till after next week, when thousands of KHs (and rented facilities) have been stuffed beyond legal capacity for the Memorial, due to the GB's "earnest desire" to have everyone meet in person.

Imagine 200 people in a building designed for 150, rubbing their noses then touching the plates & wine glasses.

It'll be a petri dish of infection.
