A Sister Speaks Out!

Thank you for posting the letter, silentlambs.

I, too, applaud the courage for this sister to write this letter. Think about it...think about those of us that truely believed the "Truth" and felt that our personal salvation lay within active participation of the borg. Remember how it felt to walk away. Remember how it felt to feel so let down by something that we held in such high esteem? Remember the courage to walk away....what it took to each and everyone of us to finally say we have had enough. Whatever our reasons may have been, they resulted in the same outcome and that was spiritual freedom.

i admit...i went to a session at the assembly.

my parents were at my house, and i felt obligated to go for at least one session.

anyway, what totally appalled me was what was said in one of the talks.

i was reading the thread about 2015 being the "new" end of the times and had a question to those that were in the borg around 1975 when the end was to come then.

i was only 7 and new to the borg, so i don't remember, but what exactly was everyone expecting?

What a slap in the face from the Society for making people feel like idiots!

See, this is what I have a hard time fathoming, how can people go blindly from one false prediction to the next and still faithfully believe? I just don't get it.

I was only 7 and new to the borg, so I don't remember, but what exactly was everyone expecting? Fire and brimstone? What did the Society say or predict the end was going to be like? What was it like to await such an aweful event? How did the Society prepare you? And, just one more question.....what in the world did the Society say to those faithful followers when 1976 rolled around?

DOOR TO DOOR ON D-DAY

gee, i guess you all aren't interested in my private life,and relationship problems, so... i wanted to post that i went out on service on d-day, the day after dateline day.

many of you warned me not to go out, including her, especially, because she cared about me so much,.

was i supposed to have tomatos thrown at me?

How much of the information about the abuse coverup w/in the borg is for those non-belivers or those blindly following a man-made organization? Who will it effect the most?

I really doubt that anyone not involved (or knowing someone involved) with the jws would get too riled about this. Speaking from experience, when the "Catholic" coverup had been exposed, I didn't run around to every Catholic I knew and shove this in their face. But you can be damn sure I spoke my opinions about it amongst friends.

The airing of the Dateline isn't going to be the end of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Hopefully it will be an eyeopener to those blindly following a bunch of men who have their heads up their asses (oopppss...did I say that? *grin*)

I am so glad that I no longer have to devote so much time peddling my beliefs....worried about how am I going to respond to people's questions about allegations of a coverup of pedofiles, worried that if I don't put in a certain amount of time door knocking that the elders are going to question what I have been up to. I am so glad that I can watch cartoons on Saturday morning if I chose to and not feel guilty about it.
