  this topic just gets me stirred up.

  All I am going to say is this.....in my eyes those that know abuse is going on and are not doing doing anything about it is just as guilty as those doing the abusing.

  Is it too much to expect that our children are safe-and that would be in no matter what religon. I send my children to school and expect that their teacher(s) are not pedofiles. I expect to know when their is a sexual preditor in my neighborhood. You can damn well know that if I ever found out that someone knew and put my children at risk they would have the wrath of this mother to contend with!

  just a thought about baptism......

  i have been reading (...and reading...and reading) about how many of us were baptized at an early age (early teens) and how many of us have suffered the consequences of leaving the "truth" because we were baptized..... if it is such a major comittment why are young people allowed to be baptized?

  i mean, at 13,14 or 15 if many of us would have told our parents that we wanted to get married-how many of our parents would have allowed it?

  hell, i could have taken a written test about marriage and passed and been ready for marriage, right?!

  If it is such a major comittment why are young people allowed to be baptized? I mean, at 13,14 or 15 if many of us would have told our parents that we wanted to get married-how many of our parents would have allowed it? Hell, I could have taken a written test about marriage and passed and been ready for marriage, right?! (just joking....) I mean, marriage is a "life-long" comittment. I just think as teenagers a comittment that can have such devasting consequences should not be taken lightly. Had I realized exactly all that was involved, I would have not been baptized.

  I don't know.....just something that has been taking up free rent in my head. What are your thoughts?

  mine have stood by w/strong convictions not to have contact w/me.

  they have to have some being that i have kids that they want to see (but that is very minimal).

  stinky it hurts for quite awhile........for me I went thru a grieving process. It still hurts at times but I think I have this "fantasy" of what it would be like to have normal relationship with normal parents.

  I wrote my mother a letter via email awhile back explaining why I never will return to the jw and the main reason is I will never belong to an organization that would make me chose between my faith and my children. I have three and NOTHING could make me turn and walk away from them. NOTHING. My kids know that too......they never have to be afraid to tell me anything. They never have to be afraid to be who they are. Never be afraid of abandonment. That is just one thing I can't understand. It brings tears to my eyes to think of having to chose and yet making that choice to walk away from your own children.

They have to have some being that I have kids that they want to see (but that is very minimal). I always thought it was a matter of conscience when it came to family.

  Maybe I should count my blessings!?!

  A question for XJWs. . .

  how many of you are now atheists or agnostics?

  how many of you have actually converted to another organized religion?

  personally i find myself doubting anything and everything i learned about the bible and religion.

  My faith in God is very very strong.......but I don't believe I will ever belong to an organized religion again. All three of my children are baptized as infants (at the request of their father) and I guess they are "members" of a certain church, but we don't go.

  I am very very spiritual just not religious. I never felt that God abandoned me, just the JWs.

  What's the one thing you miss about the WTS?

  there are times when ilook back fondly on my days in the witnesses, especially when i think on the congregation get togethers we would have every once in awhile (not too often) people from our hall and sometimes others would show up (not too many) and good times were had by all.

  this is how the schedule usually went.. 8pm: arrive at the community centre.

  8:05pm: scope the room.

  I miss having a mother and a father. Although it has been years since we were together, I still think about the good times that we had. Think about how wonderful it would have been to have a mother be there when my babies were born, or how great it would have been to have a reasurring hug from a father who really loved me.

  Oh, and forget the pudding cups...I was partial to the plastic wrapped Cream Cheese Danishes!

  Dateline Aftermath

  the result of the airing of the dateline program has been very positive.

  dateline program will no doubt air again in reruns and may get further coverage soon.

  there have been many mixed emotions as a result of this program.

  soylibre ...I was thinking the exact same thing! I was df'd because i refused to show up to my Judicial committee, but I feel like I want to write and let them know just how happy I am that I am free!
