  Hardline on disfellowshipped ones

  once again a hard line is being taken on shunning disfellowshipped and disassociated ones.

  perhaps this is some sort of backlash against the recent adverse dateline publicity in the us, the forthcoming pananorama programme in the uk and problems with a number of influential ones leaving the organization.

  the text below is from the august km insert and the meeting part is to be handled by a "well qualified" elder with the paragraphs being read by a "capable reader".

  My thoughts exactly.......

  Many of us were baptized as youths (teenagers). I, for one, didn't really comprehend the extent of my decision. I have made this comment before..

  If a teenager was to try to get permission to marry at a young age, say 15/16, how many dub parents would allow this? How many would rejoice at the decision and give their permission? Who in their right mind would like a teenager make a decision like that......

  BUT.......

  Many dub parents promote the idea of baptism. Rejoice at the fact that their "children" are making a life-long comittment to an organization. I would love to see the study before baptism to include a chapter about the consequences of leaving the "truth" and exactly what that all entails. I mean ALL that it entails.....the shunning, the heartache...everything.

  WOULD YOU BE AN ACTIVE WITNESS IF????

  would you be an active witness or even an inactive one if you could change a few things?

  for example: let's say the blood issue could be resolved, would you stay?

  or if 1914 doctrine was dissolved or the disfellowshipping/ shunning view changed?

  my subject is how we deal with getting older - realizing that we are headed in just one direction, aging and eventually dying.

  for most of us born after wwii, raised as jw's, we did not give a thought to getting older.

  2 of the above were also 'arranged' marriages, do you know of any other instances of extremes in jw marriage age ranges?

  My husband is 16 years my senior. When we first started dating I didn't know this until someone made a joke about it one day. the age difference has no bearing on our marriage! We have a lot in common and compliment each other well. But I do have to say this...had I been 18/19/20 and marrying a man quite a bit older than me may have spelled disaster. Given I was over 30 when we married, I had gone thru the stage of finding out who I am. I came into this marriage knowing exactly what I wanted, what I didn't want and knew exactly who I was. Marriage is hard enough let alone adding pressures of 'growing up' and finding out who you are.

  I am only 34.....far from the cries of "old age" but I do think about it at times. I have noticed that my physical health relies much on my mental health. Make any sense? Bear with me......

  I try to focus daily on my mental health. When I am in tune and in check with my insides, my outsides feel so much better.

  I live each day the best I can. I try not to waste my energies on things not worth the effort. I pick and choose what I can change/control in my life and focus my energy on what I can control.

  I don't worry about what happens after we die, I choose to "let the mystery be" and put my faith and trust in my Higher Power.

  I don't look too far into the future because past experiences have taught me (oh so well) that life always has those "unexpected twists and turns".

  My husband turns 50 this year. My parents are 52. I have noticed one huge difference........that is in attitude. My mother writes me about how difficult it is growing old. How many limitations there are. Lot of whining. My husband, he views 50 as great! He has the financial security that he never had. He has physical/mental health. Life is good for us-for him.

  I hopefully will accept aging w/grace and respect. I want to build a life w/lots of people in it......lots of unconditional love and acceptance. I want to be an old woman in my rocking chair on my porch and look back and think "damn....life is good"

  Paradise Earth;An interesting Question for JWs

  if there is no aging in paradise earth,expail something to me.. one of the reasons we age and die is because the mitochondrial cells convert items(food???

  ) into energy,this produces free radicals/toxins which damage the cells,the cells have to produce these toxins to do their work.. in a paradise earth,how will the body produce the energy without damaging the body's cells.. i am interested in any answers.. .

  VENTING!!!!

  after reading marylin's post about dicipline, i'm feeling all worked up, as i can totally relate to the cild that is being beat.

  especially at the meetings.. anyway, it makes me want to go back to the meetings to keep an eye out for those type of parents that like to hit there kids; and when i see it happening i think i'll take the liberty of walking up behind that parent and wacking him upside his head.. anyone want to help?.

  I just thought of something.......how come other churches have a nursery and playroom for their children-where parents take turns taking care of children BUT that was unheard of at the KH?!

  after reading marylin's post about dicipline, i'm feeling all worked up, as i can totally relate to the cild that is being beat.

  especially at the meetings.. anyway, it makes me want to go back to the meetings to keep an eye out for those type of parents that like to hit there kids; and when i see it happening i think i'll take the liberty of walking up behind that parent and wacking him upside his head.. anyone want to help?.

  LOL LB......sounds like something my kids would do!

  I remember the belt a few times.....wince. I remember my dad (old softie) would loop it around and "crack" it and I would start to cry. He then would pull me close, whisper in my ear "okay, keep crying and don't tell mom, k?".....

  In our house the disciplinarian was Mommy Dearest. I can still remember sticking my tongue out at her in Sears one day (yes, I know I deserved it) and she wacked me on the mouth w/her mother's ring on and I started to cry telling her that I was picking a hair off m tongue! Funny thing is, my daughter tried that w/me last year...guess what comes around goes around!
