Memorial or insult?
by NikL inlet me preface this with a disclaimer.
i believe in god and a higher spiritual state however i do not believe that god can be encapsulated in any one religion.. that being said, i was thinking the other day about the upsoming high holy day of dubdom, the memorial.. this is where they gather together to ...what?
listen to a talk about the last hours of jesus life and then pass wine and bread around.

Regan has been editing peoples posts as well as deleting them. He cannot stand controversy as you well know when he was on your forum a few years back. He also cannot stand the fact that I know where he hangs out as well as the occasional JW that will post on his forum. I will remain forever a pain in his lieing Russell worshipping side.

What did you do?
by StiLLinTruth into all those who have in some way left the organization (be it disfellowshipping, disassociating, dis-whatever):.
come now, i know the amount of people who "realized that wt doctrine was in serious error" and politely handed in their letter of resignation has to be very small.
the level of bitterness and hostility towards the closest-to-what's-biblical organization has to develop some other way.. what did you do?

Bringing this back to the top. I have been attacked by the Bible Students for posting this here and on a few other sites.
I have been called Nazi pig by the administrator of the Present Truth Forum for exposing Russell and his lies about the end as well as a few other rediculous things Russell said and taught.
The Bible Students are in as much a mindset about their faith as the Jehovah's Witnesses are.

Just looking for answers.
by Texasbred inunfortunately, i'm not quite sure what my questions are.
my first post was in the "dating..." forum, if anyone's interested.. the biggest problem i have is my complete ignorance concerning jw's and their beliefs/ practices.
the research i've done has provided only polar opposite views, either jw is the way or it's a cult and it's wrong.

You are in a tough situation. The mindset of a JW can be very strong. It sounds as if your friend might have a few problems with the Watchtower already being she is lying to her parents and not being honest as so many JWs claim they are.
As far as your questions, you cannot change her. If you try, I think it will cause a problem with something that seems to be turning into a good thing. It might help for you to get more informed as to what the JWs believe so you can be more effective and prepared when subjects of their religion arise. I would not push her to make any rash decisions as far as her religious beliefs. This could cause a wedge between you and her.
Hopefully in time she will see that God does accept her for who she is and not for what she belongs too. And yes, she should not be ashamed for dating someone who cares about her like you do.
Give it some time and keep caring.
Whatever you do, don't become a Jehovah's Witness for the sake of the relationship. You will be miserable.
