i was just wondering whether there was a psychological explanation for why people (women, i think) experience sex, when there's nobody physically there.. there's a lot made of this in dubdom, so i'm thnking there couldbe a connection with the dub 'culture'.. just curious.. philo (honestly, but still a male)

their need to disrupt and irritate reach superstar status in the realm of stupidity.
the desire for attention and recognition though sophomoric post's and chat room spamming becomes as much a part of the entire internet experience as the valuable and useful contributions of others.

for those who "grew up in the borg"
by zev inat this late, middle stage of my life, i've started wondering, now that i know what i know, about the things in my life that i "lived" with.
having been raised all my life in the "borg" i have known nothing else.
when questions began forming years ago, it started me thinking.

I am glad that my 3 kids are not being raised in the WT organization like I was. I did not attend one dance all the time I was in School. I only attended two football games for High School. In wanted to join the team and the coaches wanted me to join also. I was one heck of a field goal kicker and running back as well as defensive end. Unfortunatly it was not in my future to do so because of being raised a JW. Farkel made a good point about the flag salute. I always felt the whole class was looking at me while they saluted the flag. I remember in 7th grade the teacher asking me to tell the english class why JWs do not salute the flag. I spouted off the WT dogma of idolatry and also added that the flag was nothing more than a cloth. I look back and see the embarrasing times I encountered as a JW and all the things I gave up as a kid being raised in the borg.
I have been active since 1989 helping JWs and Mormons think beyond their programming. It has been well worth the time.
My three kids are very active in school. My oldest daughter is in 9th grade. This year she was in several events at school and attended almost every dance. My youngest daughter made the Principals Honor Role for the whole year. She will be heading for the 8th grade. She is a super achiever and strives to get to the top of just about everything she does. She can drive me nuts because she is like me, always needing things done right now. My son 11 years old is in to sports. This will be his first year in midget football. He is very good at just about everything oriented with sports. He is a little lazy with the reading but great at math.
I allow my kids the freedom I did not have as a JW. BY freedom I do not mean to turn into some immoral asshole with no values and screwing people over. My kids have JWs in their classes at school as well as Mormons. They tell me that some kids make fun of them because of the very things we all went through that were raised JWs. I hope because of what I went through and the experiences I share with my kids, they will be able to help some of the kids see better what it is like to be a kid raised in the WT borg.
NO damn fun at all except the donut after service on Saturday.

I have had over 40 different ads in the local papers since 1990 exposing the WT and JWs. These ads have ran over 300 days on seperate occasions. You can run ads like this in the personal columns. I have found out that running the ads in the garage sale column Thursday through Saturday gets more attention. If you want to really make the ad stand out, take out what is called a block ad. Have it reversed. This means black background with white letters. It really stands out.

when i arrived about ten minutes before the meeting started, i felt like a ghost.

Thank you for all you have done. Next time you go to the meeting, take a woopee cushion with you and have it blown up hidden in your coat. The next person that follows you around at the meeting, squeeze the cushion real hard and then stand looking at the guy as if he was the one that did it.

Born Again Theology
by messenger inwhat is the differance between a jw and a born again (ba)??.
they both think god is with them, that everyone else is going to be destroyed, if they don't go to church, god will kill them and they both have the glazed over eyes with the silly assed smile of being superior to everyone who is not one of them.. are they really asking us to believe this is the best deal god could come up with?
either god is not very smart or somehow a used car salesman managed to get control of the universe.. perhaps this is the real plan of salvation, to learn to think and be saved from associating with these bible hugging dipsticks.

I agree with half of your plan of salvation. The half I agree with is thinking for yourself.
I associate with people that believe the Bible is inerrant, I do not believe this. Many of these people are very good friends of mine and we have discussions at times about the Bible. I have association with JWs that are starting to think for themselves and are questioning the WTBTS and some of what the WT teaches. If I quit associating with ones like this because they still believe the Bible to be Gods word, I think I would be doing them a diservice by not being there when they needed someone to talk to that understands where they are coming from.

Diets and Evolution

too.. here's my idea: all early human societies were of the hunter-gatherer type.
now this probably means they ate a lot of meat.

I am glad to hear you had treatment and the chances of you getting cancer again is very slim. It must be scary to be diagnosed with cancer.
My wife had breast cancer years ago. This was before I met her. The DRs wanted to remove one of her breasts and she said no dice. She had a lumpectomy and had a few radiation treatments and has been fine ever since. I am glad she did not have her breast removed and she is too. She is very well endowed in the breast area.
As you know now, I am male. I do not know if I could give up beer like your co-worker did. I think I will stick to swimming, running and boxing as well as Basketball and football to keep the weight in check. Of course with me being 43, I play touch football now. I don't heal as fast as when I was 15 years younger. Actually today I think I look in better shape than when I was younger. I am just losing the stamina I used to have. I am also losing some of my hair.

Sorry to hear about you getting cancer. Are you going through treatment or have you been treated?
I eat meat, I eat vegetables, I eat what I want. I excercise everyday and I also have a beer or two once in awhile as well as a glass or two of wine. I am 43 years old, over 6 foot tall and weigh 178. I feel and look in very good shape. I know of people who have smoked and drinked for years and are still kicking and doing well. I also knew of some who died in their early 30s and late 40s who were in great shape and watched just about every thing they ate and did so as to stay in top shape.
I am not sure why some get cancer or other diseases and some do not. It might be the make up of our bodies and what we are exposed to in life. Are you sure being a vegetarian contributed to you getting cancer?

The site I had was given to me by an active JW that refers to me as Satan
I wonder if the WT pulled the apostate site they had or moved it somewhere else. If an outsider read what they had posted, it would look as if the JWs were supposed to hate all those who left the WT with an opposing view. I have refered many to the site and now it is gone.
