Short history of Biblical Translation article
by Flip infor the biblical historical aficionado only, a short but concise history of bible translation.... http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/85feb/transbib.htm.
although in the article, jehovah is mentioned during the squabble of 1885 (look for it), i found it curious that the watchtower bible & tract society and/or jehovahs witnesses is made conspicuous by the absence of any mention in spite of their self-proclaimed biblical importance.
its good that the wtb&ts proclaims the corporation is used as jehovahs 'wallet', because theres little credibility, other than financial, with anyone else but themselves.

WT July 1, 2001 (part II)
by Defender inthe second study article and the ensuing reading article contain many interesting points.
i thought of sharing some of them with you.. the second article entitled share in the joy of giving carries with it many positive admonitions, but mostly centered around the spiritual side of giving where the main thrust is on disciple making.. while it is true that disciple making is gods will but we must remember that it is gods paramount will that we ourselves become true disciples to jesus christ.
becoming disciples to an organization, to a religion, to a man or a group of persons and then engage in adding more persons to such discipleship is not what god or jesus intended.. on page 17, par 16 there it says; remember, too, that the disciple making work is a group effort.

Greg Stafford and the 'Tower
by Stephanus ina thought stimulated by another thread: if it is true that the wbts are bankrolling greg and his cronies' "scholarship" concerning the abominable nwt, why don't they go one step better?
since greg and co are so well versed in biblical languages and are continuously critiquing the renderings of various verses by various versions, why doesn't the 'tower go one step further and finance a revision of the nwt.
none of the original "translators" are alive to protest, the r&f won't protest the change because they never do and greg and co could discretely massage the parts of the nwt which constantly come under fire while retaining the 'tower's spin.. keep up the good work, dunscot; you and your fellow scholar fred hall are all the apostates need to remind themselves that they were right to leave!

New light is probably on it's way for a revision of the NWT.
I am sure one of the revisions is to add more references in the index of the NWT reference Bible under the name of Jesus. Right now there are only 16, there are 111 scripture references for the name of Jehovah.
Just think, over 7 million JWs would have to have a new Bible. Just think of the donations for that. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Concerning Simplicity
by dunsscot ini'll be back later to take care of brother larc and others.
for now, i want to share a brief quote taken from albert einstein.
if the doctor fouls up the quote, he takes full responsibility for any legal ramifications that may append thereto.

Greg is an evil coward. It is sad so many JWs I deal with look up to him and admire his books. I wonder how much the WT pays him to distribute his trash to the cockroaches.

Silentlambs and Signifiers that Signify Nothing
by dunsscot incall me a neopositivist, a semi-verificationist or semi-falsificationist, but the claims made by "silentlambs" reminds me of the shakespearean line that was quoted in the creator book published by the wtbts.
that is, the contentions of silentlambs seem like much "sound and fury" that in truth signify nothing.
i am of course referring to the supposed dateline show and the claims made about some members of the gb of jehovah's witnesses.

Dunsscot,
Mommie is right, only honest people would stop supporting the WT once knowing how evil it is. You continue to close your eyes and support the evil.

Any Jehovah's Witness parent in their right mind would not go to the elders for help if their child had been molested within the congregation. Unfortunatly most Jehovah's Witnesses have turned their mind over to the WT, thus not having a mind at all.
In a few instances that I know of, the JWs that had been molested were going to friends of the molester (elders) for advice and help.
A third and unbiased party is what is needed. The authorities should be notified. If the JW that is accused of the molestations is innocent, I am sure Jehovah will bring this to light. What do you say dunsscot? Is Jehovah faithful enough to bring out the truth for those in the WT organization. What do they have to fear? Why keep things like this secret and hidden in the realms of the congregations?
And don't say that there is no eveidence of ones being molested in the confines of the WTBTS. You deny the facts of what has happened to many in the congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses as far as those who have been or claim to have been molested. Don't you care enough to stand out from the rest of the rank and file and make a difference?
It seem's your main interest is defense of the WTBTS right or wrong. -

Dunsscot,
Should the Society and each individual congregation turn over any records they may have to child protective services, District Attorney etc, as far individuals that have claimed they were molested by elders or others in the realm of the WTBTS?
Is the WT really trying to use scripture in dealing with real life problems such as this? Please explain.

Great post!
Keep up the great and courageous work. Hopefully a few of those in high places will respond. I will post this on a few other sites where JWs post and lurk.
