I haven't seen anything like that amongst the jw i know. I have a teenager and I have all passwords and access. That is the condition to them having social media accounts.

Another example of the smothering and high control nature of JW husbands
by stuckinarut2 ini have noticed another popular pattern of behaviour amongst witnesses in recent years.. many, and i mean lots of ones with instagram accounts have closed the wife's account, and have started a "couple's" account instead.
also, for families.
the children's accounts have been closed, and the husband starts a "family account".. it is mainly on the husband's device, and seemingly under his control.

Worldly people
by Akid48 inas i have come to see i have way more friends at school than my kingdom hall but if i get asked about school and i say something about my friends or ask to hang out with my friends to my aunt she gives me a talk about not to like worldly people to much.. for example i ask to go to my friends house (that is a girl)i have known her from 1st grade and my aunt gets mad at me saying what if she says i raped her or something but she lets me go by my self with brothers to hang out if i want but theres a chance i will get raped there to.. read my other posts to understand my story .

If you have to do a "school project" together you will have to be able to see each other. That is of course if you have classes together. I know some young ones will face time their school friends and help each other with home work etc.

The craziness of Christianity
by Normalfulla inso i was reading thru a fb feed about poor chester bennington and in relation chris cornell, there were some rather heated and unusual (or usual whatever you may think ) comments... no disrespect to believers but since leaving the jws i just see this type of discussion as lunacy.
... "chester is going to hell ,he killed himself so it's black and white in god's word ."..
"why would a loving god send a person who suffers from mental illness to hell?

Such good Christians going on Facebook and posting unsolicited, mean spirited comments like that. No thought about the person's loved ones who may read them. That's true "love thy neighbour" stuff right there. Whatever happened to not being judges so that you may not be judged?
In all honesty has anyone ever been to a funeral service where the celebrant/priest has said that the deceased is now in hell? Everyone is either in heaven or in gods memory when you listen to the service.

Believers: How do you know your view of your chosen holy book is the correct one?
by punkofnice indon't start fighting, darlings.
i am genuinely curious.
after all i was a jobo 50 years and thought the wbt$ was 100% correct.. i ask this because i see that, for example, christian denominations (or whatever), likely have differing interpretations of the same writing.

This is something that has troubled me. I am leaning towards the view that no religion is the true religion. The Bible was written afore time for our instruction. No where does it say that you will need an interpreter. I now think that I should be able to read the bible and understand it and that where it says to"get out of her my people" refers to all religions who would have you follow them without question. -

For Christians: What do you think about an Armagedon and the Afterlife
by John Davis ini don't mean for anyone to get into argument over this, i just want to hear what people believe.i hope that no one will mock or argue with someone else about their beliefs, i know that i won't in this topic.. i still believe in a christian god, not what jws believe, but believe that there has to be something after this life.
i am not sure about how armageddon would go, would it be like how evangelicals believe with a rapture or timing or anything, though i still believe in a form of armageddon.
i do think that all good people will go to heaven but i don't believe in a hell.

Regardless of what each person believes only one thing can be true. Since no one can prove beyond a doubt that what they believe is true, I have decided to take a "what will be, will be" view. If God does exist and can in fact read hearts then let him read mine and "what will be, will be". If he does not exist I will meet my end at some point and "what will be, will be".
Either way losing sleep over it and getting anxious over what the answer might be seems to be a waste of energy and time.

Considering your age you should probably go along with your family as normal. Speak to your friends as normal. Not much else you can do at this point.

I am very sorry to hear you are going through this. There is nothing worse than watching a loved one pass away without any power to change it.

Hi Akid48
I was raised a JW. I have found if you ask questions with a sincere tone of wanting to know the answers you will not get shut down as quickly.
My recommendation to you is to perhaps visit the library in the KH and look up some of the old literature such as the Finished Mystery Book. This was published around the time they said they were chosen by Jehovah to be the Faithful and Discreet Slave. Then you can ask your questions pertaining to your research such as what was it that happened in 1919 that definitively proves that they were chosen by Jehovah then and if he chose them then, why is it that what they believe now is so different to then?
If the question of you getting baptised comes up remind them that Jesus was 30 when he was baptised and that JW do not baptise children for the fact that they are not able to make such a life choice so young. It is a solemn and important decision that you do not want to rush into.
A few years ago we were told by a CO that until you are baptised, you are an unbeliever so all children and youths are technically unbelievers. (tell that to the kids who are refusing cake at school)
You are free to research and choose for yourself. If anyone pressures you remember that they say "we all must account for ourselves" so doing anything out of compulsion is not going to help anyone when Jehovah does the final judging.
At this stage - since you are not baptised - you are free to do all the research and learning you please and not just on the JW.org site. So go ahead and do the research. That is what the bible says to do in proverbs 14:5 and Romans 12: 1 & 2 and Acts 17:11.
