Scratchme1010 you are right. Even that is discouraged by the JWs. I can't get past the fact that the bible as we have it is not the actual bible and so much will have been lost in translation.

Unwritten Theory
by moreconfusedthanever inhave any of you heard some theories from jws that are not based on scripture?
i have, in the past few days, heard a couple that have me shaking my head.. first one is that since satan was around during the creation period and probably watched on as things were being made, it is possible that he is responsible for the creation of some of the more hideous and nasty creatures that live among us.
surely god wouldn't make horrible things.. second one is that satan already had a bad attitude before the creation of adam and eve and was collecting followers among the other angels early on and stirring trouble.

You know the crazy is not limited to JWs. Just yesterday I was talking to a lady whose daughter is very promiscuous at age 15 and she has been expelled from a couple of schools now for carrying on with boys during school hours. So I asked her if she has given any thought as to why her daughter may be this way? Her response - "She has a demon on her. We have to keep praying that the demon will go away and leave her alone so we can get our angelic daughter back."
I was thinking she may benefit from seeing a professional such as a psychologist but I doubt the poor girl will get such help.

If You Question The Governing Body, You're Like Korah
by pale.emperor inanyone who questions the governing bodys authority is labelled as an apostate and almost always they bring up the story of korah and his revolt against moses.. watchtower august 1st, 2002, the article loyally submit to godly authority paragraphs 8-15.. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2002563.
in not so subtle hint, the gb likens themselves to moses, and those who disagree with the gb are korah.. paragraph 15 is actually quite damaging to the gb's argument though:.
it was so unnecessary for all those people to lose their lives.

When I have asked ones to please explain to me how the GB was chosen by god in 1919. The response is to change the subject and to say all the proof they need is that JWs are the only ones who preach about gods kingdom and that is all they need to know.
Talk about sticking your head in the sand.

I was wondering when you would put the next installment up. Thank you.
Children are the reason I started to wake up. I was never going to force my kids into anything but wanted them to make their own minds up. One of my children is atheist and the other one said he could tell what we were being taught at the KH was all BS even before he became a teenager.
I keep explaining to the grandparents who blame me for their disinterest that even if my children were to get baptised because they all want them to, it wouldn't save them if they were not doing it for Jehovah. They say he is the reader of hearts so if their heart is not in it or they do it so that they can get a drivers licence (in reference to the Tony Morris talk) then it would be for nothing.
They say Jehovah draws ones. How does that work if your parents are pushing you?

Second one is that Satan already had a bad attitude before the creation of Adam and Eve and was collecting followers among the other angels early on and stirring trouble. This one really annoyed me. If that theory were in the least bit true then the whole issue of the bible and Adam and Eve's sin would be void. If Satan was already a s**t stirrer before humans came on the scene, he should have been dealt with then and not allowed to corrupt yet more creation.

Is There Any Thing That Would Make A JW SERIOUSLY Question Their Religion?
by minimus ini realize that jehovah’s witnesses have been dumbed down for long time now.
.
still, i think there must be something that would make them really question their beliefs, even their life.. i think that if witnesses were told they could take blood or that disfellowshipping was unloving, they might stop and take a hard look at everything they have sacrificed their lives for.. i know the organization has muddled these subjects before but the i think even die hard witnesses might start to second guess the governing body..

From my own experiences with family still in nothing will have them sway. They want the live forever in paradise with your resurrected loved ones and no amount of scandal and negative personal experiences will shake them awake.
Everything we say is written off as Satan influencing our minds to take us from Jehovah. Every Injustice is committed by imperfect humans and not Jehovah and therefore we must not leave Jehovah because of what imperfect man does.
Leave it in Jehovah's hands. He will fix it in his own time. Remember he is very patient with mankind because he loves everyone.
It's hard but I have to shut up and leave them to their delusion. They couldn't survive the wake up.

The prayer switch
by Sour Grapes insomething that i have often thought about is how does god know when our thoughts go from normal thoughts to when we say a silent prayer?
does god listen to all of the thoughts of earth's 8,000,000,000 people 24/7 and when one person goes into prayer mode then god's ears perk up with an "incoming" alert?
then he has to decide if he answers the prayers to help a brother with cancer or just let the poor guy die.

That is a very interesting question and something I have never given any thought to. I do wonder why people actually believe Jehovah will help them find their lost keys for instance but have no issue with the fact that he doesn't help the ones with Cancer etc.

How Would You Console A Witness Who Has Lost A Loved One?
by minimus inlet’s say that you haven’t been around a kingdom hall in years and everyone knows you are not a “true believer “ anymore.
yet a tragedy strikes and you want to give a real heartfelt expression of your feelings— what would you say?
would you acknowledge the resurrection hope that the witnesses entertain or say something very different?.

I remember when my dad passed away. We had a memorial service for him at our local kingdom hall. Over 400 turned up. I wondered where all these people were in his life while he was alive because they sure were not friends. Anyway I digress.
Every single JW person in the hall wanted to come and offer their condolences in person. What a long afternoon that was! And every single JW person offered the same words "you will see him again in the new system", "its such a comfort that we have the resurrection hope".
Guess what? It is not a freaking comfort at all! I remember saying to my husband that the next person who says that to me is going to get punched in the face. I was still "in the truth" at the time and I found no comfort in the resurrection hope at all. I wanted my dad here now. I wanted him to see his grandchildren grow up and teach them what he knows. I wanted to be able to have conversations with him and hug him and he was gone. Even if I did survive the big A who knows how long it would be before he came back to us. I remember one talk at a convention the brother said we may have to wait 400 years or more to see our loved ones back because they were not all coming back at once. What?!!
So the next time I had to write a condolence card to a sister I just wrote something like this
"Nothing will take away the pain and grief that you feel now. In time you will find comfort and happiness in remembering the good times and appreciating that you had your loved one in your life for as long as you did."

punkofnice you are right. It is no longer shocking. Yet still you will find ones in the congregations who feel sorry for the accused because he said he didn't do it. There is a brother from my previous congregation in jail right now for pedophilia. "Oh he admitted guilt on the first charge but he says he didn't do anything to the second accuser". This is supposed to make me feel bad for him? He should have been in jail after the first time!!!
And my personal red flag "the two witness rule is there for a protection so that people cannot make accusations that are not true". What!!!???
I asked one of my family "does it not bother you that your donations will be going to pay for lawsuits such as the $66million suit brought against the society in Canada?" Answer "No this is what Jehovah wants of me. It says so. Jehovah will sort it out."
Wow! Just Wow!
