Good thing they are not singling out the JWs so they can't say it's persecution as predicted.

What's destroying Watchtower!
by UnshackleTheChains infor me, beyond any shadow of a doubt, it's the extreme shunning policy.. at a recent sunday meeting, i listened to a complete brainwashed sister saying how important it was that we stick to the shunning policy even if it is a close relative.. i just thought.
wtf.
there is a big difference between the brainwashed and the awoken class!.

It is easy to make comments like that sister until she finds herself at the shunned end of the situation. They think you need to be evil to get disfellowshiped when in reality you can get disfellowshiped quite easily for nothing serious at all.

"Worldly" boyfriend has never met my JW family, and might never will.
by BL_Poet inpublic service announcement: i am not going to write a whole backstory on myself, i just simply want to get to the point.. i have been disfellowshipped now for almost 3 years, for i had a baby out of wedlock, not by my current boyfriend, but by a guy i was dating at the time- don't judge me ;) lol- my current boyfriend and i have been dating for a year now.
i've met his family-only his parents, and his cousins family, of whom i knew before i met him, thus how i met him through a bbq- at the time, he knew i was a single mom, and didn't know too much of my backstory.
as you can imagine, i had to tell him about how my babies father and i didn't work out, due to his wandering eye, and how i had little to no support due to being disfellowshipped, or as the "world" knows it by- disassociated- from my religion.

Not an easy situation. Part of me would be telling me to take my boyfriend to my parents house and knock on the door. Let your partner see first hand what would happen.
I would most certainly be upfront and open with his family about your upbringing and show them from the watchtower articles why and how you find yourself in this situation.
The internet is a wonderful source of information and there are plenty of stories matching yours that they could see for themselves that you are a victim.
Good luck.

Attendents sit at the best seats
by Quarterback inwell it's been awhile since i got angry and wanted to post on here again.
last week's watchtower about the subject of love had something to say about the hard working attendants.
it seems that they are choosing to sit in the best seats at the convention.

Wow! The level of control is crazy.
In our congregation we have a family with a son in a wheelchair. Only one of his family members were allowed to sit in the infirm area with him. So mum sat with him and his dad sat with the rest of the family elsewhere.
A friend of mine was constantly asked to move because she didn't look infirm so she took to walking around with a walking stick. She has a government issued disabled parking pass but was not allowed to park in the disabled parks without a Watchtower issued pass.
Just the entire process of attending convention creates such anxiety it's just not worth the effort.
They don't tell everyone you can stay home in your armchair and watch the entire thing on you tube.

Counting time calling on inactive ones?
by stillin inhad a couple of witnesses stop by yesterday to say the usual "we miss you, missed you at the meeting, just checking in on you, etc.
" i've always liked this guy so we spoke for a few minutes.
my wife said that they could count their time since i am inactive.

Pioneers are allowed to count time visiting the inactive. In the 80s they could do so only if they got permission from the elders.
I got a visit from two sisters in our congregation. First time they had ever been at my house and we have been in the same house 18 years. They didn't stay long. I think they just needed the extra half hour for their time sheet.

They never admit openly that you can be disfellowshiped just for no longer believing everything. My own mother believes 100% that if you get disfellowshiped, you must have done something really bad. Yet the ARC and other Royal Commissions the world over have proved that child abuse is apparently not a sin deserving of disfellowshiping.
Why would Jehovah, if he in fact exists, have chosen this lot to be his people? The mind boggles.

Congregation picnic time
by Jayk ini've never been completely shunned because i've never been baptized.
my father side has always talked to me and included me in family events.
but my mom's side is in denial of shunning me.

I can't think of any good reason to go to a congregation get together where everyone is being fake and judgemental.

So my PIMO Younger Brother Tried To Kill Himself Today
by pale.emperor inwe all know that this cult will drive those trying to leave to desperate measures, and today by brother was very nearly one of those statistics.
he slashed his thigh with a kitchen knife and was bleeding out until he called the police.. i got a call on my way home from work from a police officer, coincidentally it was one of my old friends from school who's now a cop.
he told me my brother is in hospital after an attempted suicide and has lost some blood but will be ok. but i should get to the hospital as he's asking for me.

You may PRETEND to care - in reality you are SELFISH!
by wannabefree inthat;s what my wife (and all jw's) gets to hear about us at the kingdom hall today, (hmmmm, i wonder if she'll raise her hand to answer this one) ... .
watchtower study ... today, apostates and others who create divisions in the congregation use “smooth talk and flattering speech.” (romans 16:17, 18) they may pretend to care about others, but in reality, they are selfish.. (the watchtower - study edition (simplified version) 10/17 page 4 paragraph 7).

This explains why my mum came over in the mood for a "discussion" on Sunday afternoon. She was in a mood when she arrived directly from the meeting.

Pro-Blood Transfusion Directives for the Ex-JW
by Cimarrona inhey everyone, i have a question... all of my family members are jehovah's witnesses, save my son and me.
if something were to happen to me and i lost consciousness, my parents would be the best of kin called on to make medical decisions.
how do i ensure that if a transfusion is needed, hospital/doctors are clear that i do indeed want a transfusion and that my parents cannot override that decision?

Here in Australia we have what are called Advance Health Care Directives. A legal document where you put in writing what you do and what you do not want. Perhaps there is something like that available where you are?
