when you finally and officially exited the cult, whether it be by disfellowshipping, disassociating or fading - what was the first things you did that are considered "worldly"?.
for me, it was like crash landing on another planet that looked like earth but was completely different to the earth i knew.
i wanted to learn everything that i thought i already knew.. first things i did:.
Moved to a hippie farm
Lived homeless a few years and travelled the country
Worked for a soup kitchen
Became a coffee house bum
Hugged a lot of trees
i asked an old jw friend of mine why so many baptized individuals leave the jw religion.
"did it ever occur to you, old friend, that maybe they know something that you don't know and have valid reasons for leaving?
", i asked.. his response set me back for an answer.
I left because I wanted to smoke grass and write anti-establishment poetry.
i have no idea.... .
any ideas will help.... .
"Knockin' On Heaven's Door" probably the Guns N' Roses version for comedic effect.
i was listening to the september broadcasting, where david splain talks about how jacob met with esau.
david splain: how did jacob react?
did he try to show how important and prominent he had become?
Thank you Stephane for catching this twisting of the scriptures, since I can't quite stomach watching any of those videos very long. I usually just fast forward to the goofy songs at the end of the broadcast!
pure speculation here but i'm wondering if - with the numbers flat-lining - that the gb will stop giving country by country stats, or perhaps at least some of the statistics.. we used to get a monthly stat in the km - then that was "simplified" to "highlights".
only the "good" stuff.
then with the new clam workbook, no stats at all.. i wonder if the yearbook will soon only contain "positive" spun stats.
Actually, Millie, although second generation Latinos in the US are likely to follow the same course as their Anglo counterparts, the steady flow of new immigrants will easily balance that out. And so far among Latinos in the US as well as Latin American countries, JWs have a fairly good reputation in their communities. There isn't as much stigma against JWs, and in some places JWs are the most popular religion next to Catholicism.
... where's the good sense preventing them from again making a date prediction for the end and using a non-sequitur to justify their claim in the face of matthew 24:36?
"... but christ has been empowered in heaven to wage war against satan's world.
(rev 19:11-16) thus, it is reasonable to conclude that jesus now knows when armageddon will occur...." - watchtower july 2016, page 14, par.
The reasoning is not valid because the premise is built completely built on speculation. This is a part of Watchtowerlore, a grand unwritten canon of tiny ideas orbiting central doctrine.
Obviously Christ doesn't need to know the day or hour, because he and his hordes of angels and (speculatively) ToMo3 and the 144K can smote 185K apiece in a single night, so it's not as if he needs preparation time to build invisible war chariots and to study maps.
konceptual99, I agree they will not predict a date again. Speculations like this one are just the tidbits necessary to keep R&F roped in for more donations.
DNCall, I remember Jim Pellechia as well, had the pleasure of his company a few times. Very intelligent, a bit rigid, but compassionate. The last I knew he was working with the writing committee, penning articles in Awake. I didn't know he had fallen out with the GB, he must be pretty old by now though?
I think I remember Bro Brown as well, was he ever known as Bible Brown?
all us creationists try to do is offer true evidence that the one and only god is out there watching and looking down on us.
we present that certain scientists know the truth about god and that he is everything that we see from trees, life, weather, the air we breath, and even the most simple molecules.
but of course you atheists reject it because it is your nature to not be humble and see god because you want to rule your own life.
Hate the game, not the player.
Keep the faith, Hope!

whats your favourite sport to watch ?.
has the "drug" issue affected your view of the games ?
Beach volleyball, for sure. Simone Biles was amazing in gymnastics! Also, I love to see underdogs win, like the Syrian swimmer gal who won a medal participating on the refugee team, and the Fijians taking the gold in rugby. Also looking forward to Usain Bolt's last Olympic run.

Here's hoping The Guardian continues to pursue this. The respectability and journalistic integrity of this newspaper, that is funded by a trust fund and not advertisers, with a high regard for defending human rights, lends huge credibility to the facts presented. It is difficult to keep up the mirage of persecution complex when "The Truth" is getting exposed in the clear light of day.
