This brochure really freaked me out when I read it. I was a good, try hard, jw teenager, and that brochure made me so scared. Of course my parents used to share demon stories too from time to time. Further freaking out! In truth, it all helps to keep you entrapped.

by JTrottigy inthere are many here who think they can infiltrate my web-site.
be warned that we administrators of jwtalk call the listed congregation on your application for membership in our site to verify if they know you!.
some of you have slipped through the cracks and got into our site, but rest assured, we will find you out and ban you!.

My 1 Year Update - I've Been Disfellowshipped One Year Today
by pale.emperor inwhat a journey!.
it was a year ago today that i was announced from the platform by brother paul "twofaced" castley that i was "no longer one of jehovah's witnesses".
i didn't go to that meeting to hear the announcement because i already didn't believe the watchtower religion.. how was my first year?

Happy ex-jw anniversary!
Loved your positive post. It's so good for newbies to see that despite the anxiety of leaving, life does get better. Ups and downs yes, but researching beliefs and questioning long held ideas can free us of the jw bs. Then we can move on and get on with our lives.

What Were Your Elders Real World Jobs?
by pale.emperor inwe all know that education is severely demonized in this religion.
and that the elders are appointed based on how many meetings they attend, hours they put in on the ministry and general attitude to other elders (as apposed to, you know, actual theological training and counseling) - so my question is, what were your elders occupations outside the kingdom hall?.
in my old congregation our elders consisted of:.

Elders jobs were as follows:
•Cleaner
• Professor at a prestigious London university
•Salesman
•Window cleaners x2
•Manager Housing association
You can imagine which elder used to get a lot of criticism, plus his kids faded from the religion after going off to university too...Still he continues 'to serve as an elder' as they say. The cleaner and window washers especially had it in for the elder prof!! 😄Such a loving organisation! 🙄

Today is my first "Shunniversary"
by dubstepped ini just wanted to thank this community for being there during my most difficult period of life.
even if it wasn't a direct interaction, i was reading, and i've taken away a lot over the past year plus.
on september 2 of last year the local congregation announced that my wife and i were no longer jehovah's witnesses because we chose to disassociate.

Thanks for your positive post, I'm so happy for you and your wife! I share your joy and happiness in finally realising and experiencing that life outside of the jw cult is amazing. It's awesome to be free to think and believe whatever we want. Yes, things still go wrong from time to time, but nothing compares to how deeply miserable I felt as a witness. I can reflect on how much better and easier life is now, despite any problems that crop up.
Thanks for sharing your positivity!! 😀

Welcome y'all from JWR - any questions?
by Simon ini just wanted to take a minute to say "hi" and welcome to the site for anyone who's come here from jwr.
i can imagine the site being shut down suddenly was shocking and unsettling for many who relied on it and sometimes you don't realize how much you do rely on something until it is gone.. hopefully you'll see some of the same familiar names appearing and be able to reconnect with people you knew via this site and continue your journey together.
i don't know what the posting policies on jwr were but know it as a moderated site so can't imagine them being hugely different to the ones here.

Wow, just went to check JWR and found out it's closed! ☹️
Now I've read up on what's happened, I'm here to say hello and I'm very happy to see many familiar names from JWR. Great to have a new place to come and mingle electronically and read up on the latest craziness of the cult I spent 30+ years in.
I have many fond memories of the huge support, fun and profound stories that were shared on JWR. Its great to find another place to share experiences, laughs and support! I'm looking forward to being part of this new exjw online community. 🙂
