Aside from the judge being present to write a court order, is there an on-site lab to do the processing?
What if the person is technically impaired, but not by alcohol? A BAC is of no use in that case.
in your arm by judge's order.
(a judge will be there at the checkpoint) and of course, if you are legally drunk, you'll be arrested on the spot.. so this weekend in tampa, they'll be sticking needles in your arms if you refuse their demands.
they say they'll be heavily advertising the area that they'll be at over the holiday..
Aside from the judge being present to write a court order, is there an on-site lab to do the processing?

watchtower on women shopping for shoes.
most folks are unaware watchtower has published an essay on women shopping for shoes.
today my blog exposes this wretched piece of publishing!

Women's (alleged) love for shoe shopping
gotta love the stereotypes.... ranks right up there with "small brain size" and succumbing to the whims of her hormones.
found this article on a "gay like" man that was refused and it got me to wondering..i really didn't know the rules!.

an indiana man says a blood donation center rejected him as a donor because he appears to be gay--even though he isn't.. .
Nobody gets paid for their blood donation in Canada. Nobody. At best, they'll give you some orange juice and a couple of cookies afterward, but the voluntary aspect of donating helps to eliminate individuals who donate just so they can make a few bucks that they'll use to hook up with their dealer afterward.
They verify that your hemoglobin level is adequate for donation during the intake process, then send you to the nurse to check your blood pressure and pulse. The nurses also examine your antecubital fossae for track marks.
One last thing that happens after you go through the "highly personal" questions with the nurse. You are given a ballot that has two stickers on it. One sticker says DO the other says DO NOT. You are then asked to fill in the blank space on the ballot with one of the stickers in the line that reads: Please ______ use my donation. This helps people to "save face" if they are part of a group that comes in to donate blood, but know deep down that they have engaged in risky behaviours that would jeopardize the safety of the blood supply. (Some employers will give a half-day off with pay to donate blood, if you attend the donation centre as a group.)
I'd rather go through this every single time I donate rather than let one questionable unit of blood enter the system.

Snoozy
Just wanted to say thanks for posting this thread. Due to some medical issues and subsequent surgery, I wasn't able to donate for a while. It made me kind of sad because Canadian Blood Services just loves me because I donated like clockwork every 8-9 weeks, and because I am a Universal Donor. I called and made an appointment to donate on Friday.
i'm sort of angry right now.. no, not angry..... i'm shaky.
at least, when i lift my cup of coffee to my lips, sitting here at starbucks, my hand is trembly.. i hate that!.
the power they have to still reach me on some hidden point that hides in the corners of my very being.... .
Terry:
Here is where I'd love to say that I said some withering, devastating remark that zonked him good. But, I came up empty. Just when I needed my famous quick wit. I had zero...zip...nada. I was lost in my adrenal glands, instead.
You didn't need to end with a zinger, Terry. You told him the truth about why you were DFd. He believes with all his heart that "we don't disfellowship people for that!" But your sincerity, your refusal to go back after they kicked you out for doing what needed to be done to protect your children, is going to bug the living $h!t out of him, like the blackbirds who left their calling cards all over your vehicle.
BTW, you do know that birds love to take a crap on freshly washed cars, right? The reflection of the sunshine on your car makes them think they are over water, which is their usual natural "loo".
let us all rejoice .
help i think my eyes balls are stuck after they rolled so hard when i read her facebook post .. she commented on a mutual friends post .
the other person was stating how she didn't understand pythagorean theorem ,but would be sure to put it on her to do list along with curing cancer (she is a biology student ).......that is when my neice posted, " i know the solution to cancer and aging but not so sure about the pythagoren theorem.......".
Tell her that the WTS doesn't want her counting time on Facebook!!!

Absolutely there needs to be restrictions on who can donate blood.
If you want the safest possible product to be available for yourself or a loved one, would you want to give someone with some form or other of hepatitis to donate to you? What about people who have HIV? What about people who have STDs like syphillis or gonorrhea?
In Canada :
People from high risk areas of Africa are automatically excluded due to high rates of HIV infection.
People from the UK are automatically excluded due to high rates of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (aka Mad Cow Disease), as are people who have spent more than 3 months total travelling in the UK.
Homosexual males and women who have had sex with a homosexual male are automatically excluded due to high rates of HIV infection.
IV drug users are automatically excluded due to high rates of HIV and hepatitis infection.
People who have traded sex for money or drugs are automatically excluded due to high rates of HIV and hepatitis infection, as well as gonorrhea and syphillis infection.
People who have had cancer are automatically excluded. They may not be a risk due to infection, but donating itself may be a risk to the donor, should their cancer come back.
Women who are pregnant, have had a baby, miscarriage or therapeutic abortion are unable to donate for 6 months after the event. Their bodies need time to recuperate.
People who have had surgery are not allowed to donate for 6 months after their surgery, to allow their bodies to recuperate fully.
People who have had tattoos or piercings are not allowed to donate for 6 months. Despite very strict standards of hygiene in reputable shops, some people still get tattoos and piercings in unsafe ways, which carries a high risk of contracting hepatitis C.
People who have spent more than 48 hours in jail are not allowed to donate. I can't imagine what happens once you've been in jail for 49 hours, but it doesn't sound good.
Think about the type of person who might need a blood transfusion. No otherwise healthy person in their right mind is going to walk into a hospital and say "I feel a little out of sorts today. How about a couple of shots of O negative to perk me up?" A person who needs a transfusion is usually quite symptomatic with weakness, shortness of breath, and unable to function normally. They may have had an accident where a lot of blood was lost, or they developed anemia through malnutrition or possibly through unusually excessive menstrual bleeding. They are compromised, and to knowingly transfuse them with something that could make them worse instead of better would be irresponsible.

Apparently there is a cream cheese substitute - based either from rice or tofu. Have fun experimenting!

can someone tell the wts/jw's how utterly counter productive & cruel shunning is?.
apart from serious crimes where a person might conscientiously have nothing to do with a friend/relative, people who are struggling with any kind of issues generally need love, support & kindness.. shunning is unnecessary, evil & humiliating.. does the punishment really fit the crime?
someone caves into the 'sins of the flesh' so they are cut off from all human contact with everyone they know?.
clarity writes:
My understanding is that they 'teach' - don't go it alone. They have a buddy system.
While going through this process they have constant support. They are treated well. They have regular meetings to talk about loneliness, self worth and encouragement!
I agree with you there. The WTS has ingeniously (as it worked for many decades until the advent of the Internet) created a situation where JWs are advised to avoid as much as possible associating with outsiders and unbelievers, which worked in their favor in deterring many JWs from doing something that could get them DFd as they would have 'no where else to go' due to a lack of social network outside the JWs, and the rules on shunning meant that exJWs and DFd people were viewed as some kind of bogeyman that made you afraid to seek them out.
That's why when people come to JWN wanting to "fade" from the JWs, one of the first recommendations that anyone here will offer is to start developing outside activities and social contacts so the feelings of isolation that arise from eventually being shunned by JWs will be diminished.
