Well, considering that the JWs' worldview is based entirely on falsehood, I couldn't care less what the heck they say about me, or think of me, when they leave my house. I'm pretty sure, though, that some of them are damn jealous that I have my freedom while they don't.

What do the Pioneer's say when they leave my house?
by PenelopePaige ini've always wondered what they must say when they leave my house.
i did a bible study for a while and of course, at christmas i had a big tree and all the trimmings.
i have some nude sculptures in my house and angel sculptures on my lawn, plus lots of religious shrines around my house that my friend who is an artist makes and gives to me.

in your opinion what is the best way to stop drinking?
by stuckinamovement ini have found myself drinking more and more since i realized that the truth was a lie just to quiet my mind.
it's not like i am a drunk or anything, it hasn't affected my work or relationships, it is that i really don't like being a slave to anyone or anything including delicious beer.
mmmm beer.... so to avoid being a slave to a habit, i have determined to stop drinking.

If you think your drinking is problematic for you, then you need to do something about it.
I know a couple of people who I would never consider to be "alcoholic" who went to AA. They felt the confidential support from others going through a similar struggle was important, because they weren't "falling down drunks" and didn't want to 'burden' their friends and family with their struggle. It also gave them an opportunity to "give back" as a sponsor when someone new joined their AA meetings.
If you want your family and friends to support you through this, you need to have an honest conversation with them. If you are someone who needs to have the temptation minimized in your home, you have to explain to your family that you won't be keeping alcohol in the house. In social situations, have some cola, ginger ale or soda water in a glass with a wedge of lemon or lime in your hands at all times to keep people from offering you "another drink". Offer to be the designated driver whenever you go out with friends to give you a good excuse to not drink - stay sober for the safety of the people in your group!
AA subscribes to the notion of calling on a higher power to help to keep sober. If you are a believer in such things, that can help. If you are an atheist like me, your "higher power" could be that you are no longer willing to surrender yourself to the effects of alcohol or any other substance that causes you to lose control of yourself.

I am trying to figure out my future if I should go to college or just keep working a regular job...............................
by andys ini am faced with a dilema right now and need some advice on what i should do with my future, i realize that eventually i'll grow old and will need to somehow work my way up so i have something to fall back on, like someone told me once i don't really have a support structure to fall back on, if something happened where i could not work i would probably wind up homeless, moving back in with my parents house would be out of the question because i would never go back to the borg.. this is my situation right now, everything is going good, i love my job, i am single no kids, i work at a hosptal making $10/hour doing janitorial work, also my rent is very cheap about $350 a month for rent on a duplex, i live less then a mile from work, right now i have the most ideal situation to save alot of money even on $10/hr job, but also i realize that everything can go all at once, if i ever lost my job since i don't have no support structure and could not find work i would be sol.. now to some of the things i like doing, i like to drive, one of the things i have always wanted to do is learn truck driving, since i don't have no extra responsibilites, i am still having a hard time though making a decision, on one hand i like my current job, but on the other hand i realize that i do have to plan for the future, if anyone can give me some advice i am at a loss of what to do, also because of the way the econommy is here in the us right now sometimes i think its best to stick with the job that i have but still don't know whats best..

There are lots of positions in a hospital besides janitorial ones, jobs that pay a lot more than $10/hour.
Hospitals are usually good in terms of offering their employees education perks. Even if you take some courses in time management, etc. it could lead to opportunities in the department you are in now. Every subordinate needs a supervisor, every supervisor has a manager, etc. People in those positions move on to other opportunities, opening up their positions to senior staff among the team. Find out what is needed to qualify for a supervisory position or a management position. There's nothing wrong with being part of the custodial / housekeeping team of a hospital. They have an essential and vital role in infection control, but also in making a patient's hospital stay comfortable.
I've been a nurse for over a decade, and while some of my colleagues keep their distance from the housekeeping staff, I know all the names of the housekeeping staff in my area and chat with them when there's time, and have gotten to know them beyond their name-tags - it makes a world of difference to build that kind of relationship, because these folks will go out of their way - above and beyond - for you if you've invested the energy into including them as part of your team. The patients love it, the housekeeping staff enjoy the praise and gratitude, and my aloof colleagues are bewildered that the housekeepers will bend over backwards for Nurse Scully.

"The organization has never disappointed us..."
by Franklin Massey inin the simplified english edition of the july 15th, 2011 watchtower, in an article that warns jws about apostate influences, the following quote is given as a reason to stick close to the watchtower organization:.
"the organization has never disappointed us and always gives us an abundance of pure waters of truth from god's word.".
a scan of the page can be found here: http://www.jwfacts.com/images/watchtower-2011-jul-15-p12-apostates.jpg.

Well that's a reflection of the expectations that that person holds, and it plays right into the Organization™'s game plan when people have such low expectations of it that they are never ever disappointed.
In every relationship is the potential for disappointment. The only time a person is free from disappointment is when they stop having expectations of any kind of the other person. Does that sound like the kind of relationship that is healthy? Does it sound like there's mutual respect? Does it indicate that the manipulation has been so overwhelming and so pervasive that the innocent party just shuts off having any expectations at all out of self-preservation?

The evolution of the WT tyrant...
by Aussie Oz inmusing the other day...this is my take on the evolution of the watchtower.. once upon a time, i am sure old charles really was a believer...i reckon he probably still was when he died in his toga too, although perhaps somewhat befuddled that his cherished predictions were as successful as 'father' miller's were.
and by then he seemed to have inadvertantly started a sort of non organized organization that he could hide the $$ that came his way as a sort of bonus from the lord.. perhaps rutherford, i should say,''rogueford'', was a believer too at some point.
but some time after russel booted him out of bethel his inner killer instinct surfaced...waiting for the old man to pop his clogs.

post-Freddie, the pres was Milton Henschel. Then when Miltie died, the mantle went to Ted Jaracz. Not sure who is in charge - in name only, of course. We all know that the current WTS is under the control of their Legal Department.

JW Husbands - a learned domination?
by skeeter1 inare jw husbands bad people?
would you want your daughter to marry one?.
i ask because a male jw relative was baptised.

When a boy grows up in the JW belief system, I think there's a lot of buy-in to the perceived ideal of The Headship Principle™. It's a very old-fashioned dynamic, and the WTS places a lot of emphasis on male headship and female submission.
I don't think there's currently the same level of buy-in from girls raised in the JWs - I know it certainly wasn't there in my case. My parents insisted on schooling past high school and on being able to think for myself, support myself and do things that are normally the domain of males. Things like changing the oil in my car or a flat tire, mowing the lawn, fixing things around the house, do my taxes, etc. I also learned how to do all the domestic things around the home - cooking, baking, cleaning, sewing, knitting, etc. When Mr Scully and I got married, he took over the tasks that he knew how to do, because if he had to cook, we all would have starved to death, or died of ptomaine poisoning. I didn't mind letting him mow the lawn, shovel the snow or fix the flat tires, or pick up a paint roller, because while I was capable of doing everything, I certainly wasn't going to allow him to sit on his hiney and do nothing while I did everything.
I think males with a tendency toward being domineering in a relationship will find the JWs' emphasis on The Headship Principle™ to be a major selling point. Just like I think that males who, from a Worldly™ perspective, are poorly educated, lacking in leadership skills, or even lacking in people skills all together, are drawn to the JWs' heirarchy of Ministerial Servants™ and Elders™ because it gives them the opportunity to be Big Fish in a Little Pond, when they would otherwise amount to nothing more than being a Little Fish in a Big Pond.

Please research the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses from as many sources as you can possibly find, before committing to becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses, including www.jehovahs-witness.net .
They will tell you that it is important to critically examine your current belief system, and if it doesn't meet with their criteria of being "the true religion" or "approved by God" that you should reject it, regardless of any good that it does in the community, or regardless of how it will impact your immediate and extended family. However when the same level of scrutiny is applied to the Jehovah's Witness belief system, they become extremely defensive and start cautioning the learner about avoiding "apostates". Should you continue to critically examine the Witnesses' beliefs independently, or start questioning some beliefs or practices, they will not be able to tolerate the critique and will eventually discontinue discussions with you.

Service Leeches
by man in black ini remember that in my old hall there was a single pioneer sister who lived in the kh basement.
she did not drive, (22 years old) and she was.
such a "spiritual example" .. but now i remember going out in service with the group on a saturday morning, and she would be part of the group that was in my car.. we would do about an hour of service door to door, and then return visits for an hour or two.

I've known some people like that. They don't drive or own a vehicle, and use Field Service™ as a springboard to get their personal errands done on other peoples' time and dime. They also have no respect for traffic regulations like Fire Lane or No Parking signs.
One of these leeches had me driving her around on some errands after Field Service™ coffee break, in between Return Visits™ so we could continue Counting Time™. She had a call at one townhouse, but there were no parking spaces available. I suggested that she do her Return Visit™ while I waited in the car, because I didn't want to stop in a No Parking zone. She eventually convinced me, despite my objections, that it would be fine, she didn't see any police cars in the area. Still, it bothered me because it was a No Parking sign, and I didn't want to be a bad example to observers (like the angels, for instance), and I didn't want to disappoint Jehovah by breaking the law. Yes, I really was *that* hypersensitive.
Anyway, we got back to the car - it wasn't 5 minutes that we were gone, because nobody answered the door at the Return Visit™ - and there was a freaking $8 parking ticket on my windshield. I was so upset!!! and Sister™ Leech looked at me and said "I hope you don't expect ME to pay for that because I can't afford it - besides you're the one who decided to park here!" My mere annoyance at getting the ticket boiled over into rage, because here she was wasting my time and my gas, and talked me into doing something I didn't want to do and now she felt no accountability for it, NONE. I told her to GET IN, and then I drove without saying a word straight to her house, and she was like "But I have other errands to do before I go home...." and I just glared at her and said GET.OUT.NOW.
Then I drove to the police station and paid the ticket to clear my conscience. For a long time I felt it was Jehovah's way of telling me he was terribly disappointed in me for breaking Caesar's Law™. But at least Sister™ Leech never asked me to do any favours for her or Go In Service™ with her after that.

Tax Exempt status - is there a way to get JWs to lose it?

Well, I think if people just stopped giving them money it would have an equally profound effect.
The more holdings they have to sell off to keep the printing presses rolling and keep the GB living high on the hog, the better. Eventually, the waters of Babylon will dry up.
