That was a terrific letter.
I'm curious as to how he'll respond. You know they can't stand it when you tell them there's a line that you don't want them to cross.
hello, first let me apologixe for both my spelling and my grammer in advance, both are not my strong points.. i'll keep this short.
since i've been a child my mother has studied on and off with jw's ( i'm now 34) so i've been around it most of my life, i studied on and off myself for around 10 years.
thank's to this site and jwfacts i'll never study or step foot inside a kingdom hall again.

we all know that the doctrine and dogma of the wts is completely false, so i'm not even going to include topics like "trinity" or "gehenna" or anything like that in my personal list.. but i'd like to see what other people list as their top five most harmful jw teachings.. #5. females in the congregation are inferior to males.. #4. you must override your personal conscience in favour of wts rules, even when you know it's wrong.. #3. shunning disfellowshippedtm and disassociatedtm individuals, without being allowed to form your own opinion or hear their side of the story, even when it is a family member or close friend, this teaching destroys families and results in far too many people taking their own lives from the agony of being rejected by the only people they have ever had relationships with.. #2. forsaking higher education, well-paid employment and planning for retirement.. #1. the no-blood rule has cost more lives since it was first introduced by rutherford than jonestown, 10 times over..

Hi Simon,
I know your to-do list is quite long, but I'm having trouble looking up posting histories - I get an error message when I try to look for threads that have been started, and posting history of other members.
a religious person carries with them a concern (reasonably should be concerned) that non-believers do not share.. for the religious believer there is a very real dimension of beings who are actively invasive in human affairs.. these beings are angels, demons, jinns, gods, spirits, ghosts---you name it--scrutinizing our every move, reading our minds (some say) and.
greatly aroused by women in a sexual way!.
indeed, the scriptures do not blush to inform us that angels lusted after women in times past and impregnated them successfully!.
Terry:
I'm not sure anybody has yet addressed the aspect of being WATCHED surreptitiously!
That was extremely creepy, especially as a young naïve bride, when the old married / widowed biddies at the Kingdom Hall™ made a point of reminding me that Jehovah, Jesus and all the angels and the resurrected Anointed Ones™ would know if we strayed beyond what The Society™ had deemed appropriate for married couples.
Imagine what that does to your sex life, to believe that your most intimate activities are scrutinized by a host of invisible Peeping Toms!!
over the course of decades as a jw, an elder, a bethelite, then learning ttatt and wanting to leave, i'd collected a lot of insight into the power of "confidentiality.
" although the confidentiality in a judicial hearing is supposedly to protect the sinner, in actuality, i saw that it was about control and was protecting the power of the jc.. i didn't use any of this knowledge until i was called before the boe because the other elders figured they had grounds to remove me as an elder.
it was a work situation that only lasted a matter of hours, but it was enough that they seized the moment.
Billy
I'm sorry you had to go through all that BS with the BoE, but glad you were able to turn the situation to your advantage.
I wonder what they would have said, had you asked them why they hadn't told the ratfinks Brothers™ who reported to them to apply Jesus' counsel to speak to you about their complaints themselves (Matthew 18:15-17) before squealing going to the BoE?
I've found that whenever gossip about me gets back to me and I trace it back to the source and ask them why they didn't apply that scripture instead of starting malicious rumors about me, invariably I'll get an apology and an opportunity to clarify whatever situation they claim to know more about than they do. And I absolutely LOVE it when I get to tell them "really it's none of your concern" by referring them to the passage at 1Pet 4:15 "Let none of your suffer as a ... busybody in other people's matters".

I'm also resurrecting things too. Like Jebus but with less water-walking and water-winery happening.
What!!?? No wine!! Appalling.. just appalling.

What's kind of sad from my point of view is the "Best of" section with all those dead links to the old JWD format.
we were told today, yes!
our accusers will be there.
is it true?
Bring a lawyer who is interested in these defamatory allegations against you. Watch them crap their pants.
the drama continues, i log on to facebook this morning and notice that i have about 20 some odd personal messages from people calling me an apostate to they will return to me when i return to jehovah.. all of this based upon my brother informing others that i have "apostate thoughts".
my mother also encourage long-time famil friends to "unfriend" me because i have taken my stand on the side of satan... wow.
don't you just love this international brotherhood.
Wow, that's a better method than the old "I'm cleaning out my FB account over the next 2 weeks, let me know if I should keep you or cut you loose" status updates.
Mind you, I don't have enough JW contacts to make it worthwhile.
Your mother is a piece of work. Remember what I said about her sitting on your face and shitting down your throat?? It continues....
i have been lurking here for months now, and i just decided to post here and actually interact with this community.
i have a very specific/unordinary life, so i will not divulge too much information to protect my privacy.
i am a baptized publisher who is under the age of 25 who attends college, and i do have responsiblities within the congregation.
Thoughtless:
I lost out of 60K scholarship because my mom refused to jump on boat.
That's atrocious. If you got bilked of 60K in any other circumstance, you'd have grounds for legal action. Yet, your adoptive parents - who are legally required to do what is in your best interests - can get away with this crap because they belong to a religion that looks down its nose at higher education.
If you can stick this JW thing out until you finish your education and keep your mouth shut about your doubts and beliefs that the WTS is a false religion, you'll be in a better position to be on your own. If your parents are helping pay your way, that's the route I'd take, because they could easily yank your funding out from under you if they think you're becoming Apostate™.
There are a quite a few of us who have caught up on getting their education - Laverite is one of these folks. I don't consider my educational track to be all that impressive, but I started nursing school in my 30s and have been working in a specialty that I love for the last 15 years. I was on the fence as a JW when I started college - had lots of doubts and saw many false teachings and got tons of flak from JWs (the usual Armageddon™ is Right Around The Corner™ - don't waste your time on school!! etc.) and in the meantime learned a lot about critical thinking and propaganda. By the time I graduated I was convinced that leaving the JWs was the right thing to do, for myself and my family.
That doesn't mean I went around rocking the boat with all the JWs I knew. I still have family in the JWs and although the relationship is strained, because I've not poked the beehive with a stick, I haven't yet been stung in retaliation.
Have you thought of trying to reconnect with your birth parents? You may have a family that you don't know yet who would love to reconnect with you. They could make the difference between being alone among JWs and having a family that loves you unconditionally.
