I remember feeding the "resident alligator" there. It all looked like paradise a lot, but it was not, the critter was a carnivore.

Griffin Assembly Hall (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) now a Megachurch
by Sanchy inmy mom, while pregnant with me, was one of thousands of jw volunteers to work on the construction of this once beautiful assembly hall in south florida circa 1984. it had a beautiful pond, waterfall, and even a resident alligator.
many remember it as well for it's huge plaster murals on the walls showing scenes of paradises.. pics as it was before (sorry for the low quality, struggled to find good pics of the auditorium as it was, if you have any good ones, do share them):.

Occupations that will disappear
by joker inwhile growing up in the cult one thing that always bothered me was the way witnesses could forecast jobs/occupations that we're going to vanish in their new world.. for example, we would usually discuss at saturday night wt studies how doctors, nurses, funeral directors, and soldiers would go the way of the dodo.
i always found discussions like that just so strange.. in hs, i mounted an unsuccessful effort to enter veterinary sciences, the big answer was always "why" it won't be needed after armageddon 😝😜.
does anyone have their own story about professions that the witnesses believe will not be needed after the big a ?.

dis-appear? The various appointed "servants, overseers" in the congregation.
Eph. 4:11-- gave some as shepherds, teachers--13. until we all attain to the oneness in the faith, and the accurate knowledge--"
If the purpose of the teachers and shepherds is the perfecting of individuals the flock, their tenure, is limited, to the time until that is achieved.

baker: "#9-- the only channel for dispensing spiritual food. Since 1919, the glorified Jesus Christ has been using that slave to help his followers understand God’s own Book-- ( yesterday's wt study. )
The spiritual food that the f&d slave dispensed in 1919 was: " The world has ended, Millions now living will never die, ." so to help us understand that:
the wt slave predicted then, that there would be > 2 000 000 ~100 year old jws now? If Armageddon came in the next 3 years? if not, will the OS, Great Crowd have to start overlapping too? some help that is.
This lying omission F&DS self promotion stinks. Eigenlob stinkt.

"Don't listen to apostates!!"
by Schnufti innext time a jw says that to me, i will ask him to read the following from "what does the bible really teach":.
watchtower itself uses this illustration.
so why is it that they throw apostates out of the congregation?.

so, Jackson testifying in Australia was not speaking as a part of the F&DS? or the GB? not in quorum?
Today's study , Nov 2016 page 15, par 7 was interesting; The first century Governing body, (that was not then the faithful & discreet slave) meeting in quorum? and par 10, " - Jehovah rides on this chariot,--" boy that is a jerky ride these days,

baptised nearly 51 years

Welcome, do not forget the words to "not lose your first love" of "The truth about the truth". I have been baptized for 60, was nearly of the perfect man baptism age (<30), started to wake up at the 1960s, superior authority flip,
my advice: get a good grip on real life, make your time/ life experience the "now", count. come to term with the truth, that you should live a quality life now.

Jesus: Preaching in the 21st century
by RULES & REGULATIONS in''i liked it better 2000 years when i preached in synagogues,in the fields,by the sea,in the temples,on mountaintops and valleys.now,i've been reduced to making small talk and handing out leaflets to our summer convention titled,''remain loyal to jehovah.''.
''this stupid convention is 80 miles away,3 full days in the middle of summer, bagging your own lunch, paying for hotel and food, and ''making sure you do not reserve seats.''.
'' i hope no one answers the door.''.

why do you knock on doors? before you left, you could just walk in without even opening them *** and where is your i pad?
*** to convince the doubting house holders aka Thomases? we have a very hard time doing that by knocking. it is like knocking our heads against a wall.

The world is the wonderful place it is, because of kids like this, and institutions that have helped budding geniuses. On average, pupils will always produce better results than their teachers, otherwise we would be still swinging in the trees.
Apostates will always have the very ideas that will appear as wt's new light in later publications. (at least as examples of more mirth)
This illustration is used to freeze any advanced thinking in the new recruit's (bible study's) mind.

How long did people like Methuselah really live?
by dubstepped ini was working today and my brain was working in circles like it often does and i started wondering about what i was always told about people like methuselah in bible times, and their incredibly claims of longevity.
i've tried researching things but have a hard time getting through all of the bible thumpers to some real evidence, and figured that some here may be more informed or have done the research previously.
so, did people really live longer way back when?

it is claimed that some of these old time counters did not grasp the "0" concept, well here they added one, 96.9 years is not far fetched, what is a zero among friends anyway?,

"Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."
by pale.emperor innow that im not longer a jw this verse puzzles me.
being born and raised a witness, this verse confirmed to me that jesus was talking about a paradise on earth.
but now that everything the witnesses taught is 99.99% incorrect can somone explain what he was getting at here?

has to relate to the oh-so- meek GB [ sarcasm]
Diogenesister, yes, it a consistent wt application. Think of the deeds of the sheep and goats, Math:25, it is not to help the least ones, but the anointed GB "brothers of Christ" and their enterprise.

He meant "inherit" in the sense that his listeners would rule over the Earth
agree with tepidpoultry, with wt the meek anointed are they themselves, they will be the absentee landlords, they will decide who lives in paradise, they will appoint the princes, and not only post-Armageddon, even now.
