  Star Trek "Nemesis" (Fluff)

  the new star trek movie, "nemesis" is premiering on december 13, 2002. i am really looking forward to it.

  although i grew up with the original, i must admit to a certain fondness for the next generation and to captain picard.

  personally i've always enjoyed a good argument; especially with people who are more intelligent than i am.

  when i was younger, and more energetic, i would sometimes take the opposite side just to stimulate the discussion.

  the one thing that has always put me off though is when the argument devolves into name calling or obscenity.

  i am beginning to wonder if there is some kind of physical brain wiring that makes some people more likely to accept religion, even when believing in a certain supernatural paradigm presents numerous absurdities.

  christians seem to be able to convince themselves of the following: .

  ) the god described in the bible is real, yet the god(s) of other religions are not (a variation: other religions are satanic deceptions).

  it is pretty pathetic for some people that claim they don't like the content/style/quantity of your threads and then to constantly dog you in them.

  i think it takes a decent measure of talent and thought to consistently post interesting questions that generate good responses and from the number of replies/reads you get per thread, i would say others think similarly.. even your critics cannot seem to resist opening and reading what you write.

  personally, i think they are jealous and frustrated that simple questions generate more interest here than their long well-researched essays.

  Simple questions, with thought provoking answers are, IMHO, the way to gently start someone on the path of discovery.

  Anyone ever notice that teachers with doctorates dont teach at kindergarten ?

  I have the greatest respect for the ones who do long intense posts packed with information, but try and get a dub to accept all that and you will just be trying to force a quart into a pint pot.

  Break the waverers in gently, then they will be able to get into the deep stuff as they move further out. Minimus' thought provoking , simple posts make good first reading.
