Did your friend say anything about furniture and household items that the insurance is supposed to cover?

by roflcopter inso i had a jw friend stay at my house the past few days after getting back from doing a couple months of work in new orleans on quickbuilds.
he told me all about whats going on there, etc.
but one thing really ticked me off, and its amazing the money the wts is making offa this.. from what he told me is the wts is quickbuilding new homes for all the jw's who lost their homes in the hurricane and collecting the insurance payments that the homeowners recieve.

Why don't JW's change their failed methods of witnessing...
by zeroday ingoing out in field service monday thru friday 9 till noon, knocking on empty doors while most people are away at work.
knowing no one will be at home.
why is there not a massive effort for evening witnessing when you know most people will be home and able to be reached.

I would have thought that if the witnesses were really serious about 'the end' they would search out the places in the world where the word has not yet been preached, after all, Jesus said, when the word has been preached in all the world, then the end will come.
Much better than going round and round the same ole houses hm?

Yawn.....................so what? Seeing faces and animals and hot fudge sundaes in clouds has been pretty standard since the dawn of time. Or at least since the dawn of whipped cream. Get over it.
In clouds, yes, even in photographs of clouds, however the pictures linked to are drawings, and so have to be deliberate.

So is America finally getting wiser? Who still believes this nonsense?
by Jourles inwashington (afp) - for the first time since it began, a majority of americans believe the iraq war is not part of the war on terrorism, as us president george w. bush keeps insisting it is, according to a poll.. fifty-one percent of the 1,206 adults surveyed in the august 17-21 new york times/cbs news poll believed the two wars were separate, while 44 percent saw a link between them.
in june, opinion was split evenly at 41 percent..
rest of the story here.

You do know that's how polls work right? To get to know how everyone thinks quite accurately you only need to get the opinions of a representative sample ...
I believe that polls should be taken with a pinch of salt as they could so easily be influenced by the agenda of the pollsters.
For example, if I poll this board with the question 'Is the WTBTS a good thing' I would get one result.
If I poll the local KH with the same question, I would get another result.
Then I can publish the percentage that backs the position I wish to convey, I am sure you see how that works.
Disclaimer This is a comment on polls, not the war.

Going back to the original post for a moment....
Fifty-one percent of the 1,206 adults surveyed in the August 17-21 New York Times/CBS News poll
WOW! Thats somewhere around 650 adults!!!!!!
Good thing America doesnt have too many people living there otherwise the poll would look slanted hm?

Is it time for apostasy to get organised?
by nicolaou ini like things the way they are right now.
the watchtower are never sure which direction the next 'assualt' will come from and we often get the jump on them.
but i was wondering if, in addition to all the solo efforts, it might be time to set up something a little more permanent.. i know that my disfellowshipping is only a matter of time - perhaps months - and when it happens i'll have the freedom to act in a way that i cannot risk at present.

for atheists/agnostics
by BlackSwan of Memphis inhow did you get to the point where you are at now?
was it primarily new information that made you rethink religion and god?
learning about the ice age, the universe, the fossils out there?

I have always been an Atheist, I never signed up to any religion.
Why?
Because I cannot bring myself to subscribe to the arrogance of some humans who believe that a 'creator' made an entire universe just to give them a place to scurry about on.

For me, the worst thing about having Fibromyalgia (some years now) is the attitude of others, I LOOK fit, so they can't (or wont) understand why I dont have a job.
oh, and thats another thing, the frustration caused by that doesnt help the condition at all.

WOMAN IN THE "DOGHOUSE" OVER A JW SIGN

"We were informed by a member of the public who found the sign to be distressing, offensive and inappropriate," a police spokesman said.
I thought they liked 'persecution' because it proves they are 'right'.
