Just a brief note to express my appreciation that someone has stood up and been PROVED to be right. The panorama program showed the society up for what it is and the control that they so crave is finally slipping. You put me in contact with the producers and I am very grateful.
I think we should all be proud of silentlambs and all involved.

the wtbts pleads in defence of its policy for paedophile cases that 2 witnesses are required in accordance with deuteronomy 19 v 15. what they fail to grasp is the significance of verse 16 onwards.

i am by all accounts a witness, if not an ideal one.
in light of the reaction after the panorama program i have seen a mixed variety of responses.
What ugg is trying to point out to you is that although the society, lately, have said that they are not "Divinely Inspired" they do not hide the fact to the rank and file JW that all they say and do is "Spirit appointed".
Take an example. An elder is "Spirit Appointed" to lead and look after the flock in the congregation. After a few years it comes out that BEFORE he became an elder he was abusing children. (My former cong.)
So was he "Spirit Appointed" meaning Jehovah doesn't mind child-abusers being elders OR is the fact that an elder is "spirit Appointed" just a phrase used to keep the rank and file (especially women) from questioning their authority.
The more you look at the society from an outside view the harder it is to think that you believed them all this time.

If someone is confronted with a camera and they have to walk away without giving a defense then they are as guilty as hell and it showed in the face of the P.O. in Scotland (Panorama)
I have had more success in the last week with Dateline and Panorama than ever before. The society are coming to a point now which is past defending, and unless they change their policy drastically (which we know they will not do!) then this is going to be a hard period for them.
Of course I have heard the same old tripe about persecution??? but they are soon going to lose heart in defending what to everyone else is lunacy, i.e. no blood, abusers etc
Now they are on the run, we should hit them with a charity commision investigation about their charity status. Let's see them defend that one!

when one is a member of a group such as jehovahs witnesses, it is not possible to be aware of the degree to which personal freedoms that are normally taken for granted are lost.
the mind-control techniques used by the watchtower society are by no means unique.

I gave my mother some questions that I wanted her to find the answer to on the blood issue.
She phoned me up last wednesday and said she had an Elder coming over to discuss the questions but because they were my questions she thought it would be better if I was there aswell.
When I got there, there were 2 elders that I didn't know and my parents had there coats on ready to go out!
Needless to say the elders couldn't answer any of my questions and even lied outright about the change in policy until I showed him the relevant artcles, and from then on kept questioning me on were I got the information instead of answering it.
i was sitting at the meeting last night looking for more things to be critical about (lol!)..
the year text is "come to me...and i will refresh you"-matthew 11:28. as i was staring at the text as it hung on the wall, i looked over at a married teenage couple who were disfellowhipped for "poking" prior to marriage.. okay, they had sex before marriage.
but they did get married.
In what way does the org refresh you? By laying down a series of laws that are impossible to do completely, giving you a rigid study and meeting program that nobody does fully, and stopping you from progressing in a career that will help you in later life.

Witnesses believe that Jehovah will protect them when they are doing his will, take some of the stories we were fed about lone sisters being protected by large men, visible only to the murderer.
What must her family and cong think now. In many rough areas, older witnesses are forced to take buses and trains to get home from meetings and when things happen there is no shame felt by the cong members who have room in their cars but still don't offer a lift.

with the recent celebration of the memorial, there's been some discussion here.

and in other recent threads about the "social phenomenon" that is the partakers at the memorial.. i've been looking at some actuarial data recently, and i've found that this "remnant" are unexpectedly more vigorous than the other members of their generation.
The fact that the number would be a lot more if they counted all the partakers, but some elders do not report some partakers out of embarrisment on the cong.
I know of 3 local congs at the recent memorial who are not going to report their embarrisment.
