The first thing I did when I left the org was buy myself a powerful motorbike.
I had been warned off buying one before as they 'endanger your life' and I actually listened!
jw children miss out on so much.
i was raised as a jw and there were so many school activities that i wanted to participate in but was not allowed.
i remember my gym teacher encouraging me to go out for soccer, i asked my parents if i could and of course i knew the answer would be no even before i asked.
The first thing I did when I left the org was buy myself a powerful motorbike.
I had been warned off buying one before as they 'endanger your life' and I actually listened!

"Cowardice asks the Question
- is it safe
Expediency asks the Question
- is it Politic
Vanity asks the Question
- is it Popular
But Conscience asks the Question
- is it Right
And there comes a time when one must take
a position that is neither Safe, nor Politic,
nor Popular but one must take it BECAUSE
it is RIGHT.

I also suggest you visit www.infowars.com to see the way the truth about the world situation is kept away from people by the mainstream media. The european news services, especially the BBC have been much more reasonable in their coverage of the situation.
I watch FOX NEWS every night just to watch how biased and war-mongering they are (especially Bill O'Reilly)
George Bush stole the election, as you probably know, and has the same advisers that his Dad had when he was in power.
Dick Cheney still picks up a salary from the company that has been awarded the contracts to re-build Iraq !
Rumsfeld was the person who sold the chemical weapons to Saddam in the 1980's
Need I say more?
i know the wts calls anyone who leaves an apostate.
but can that label be pinned on someone who has never been a jw?
i also know the wts can do pretty much anything they want, but according to their "official policy" can i be considered an apostate after only having studied with them for a time -never baptised into the org - but found their teachings to be less than the truth and said so?
Maverick is right, i'm afraid.
Even if you only associated with them for a short time they will view you as an Apostate even if they are misusing the word to stop others from talking to you. Don't be too upset, though, Jesus would have been classed as an Apostate by the Jews of his day for going against them.

I know MOAB is not really called 'mother of all bombs' but that is the nickname given to it by the military and the news.
The Reuters article is regarding the test of this weapon in Florida. http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topnews&storyID=2362505
The reason the Samaritan is used is that it is too large to be loaded onto a normal bomber, even the B52 and is pushed out of the back of the loading doors.
The atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima (and Nagasaki) as you say to end the war with Japan. But Japan had already offered to surrender under EXACTLY the same terms one month before and the Americans refused to accept the surrender. They then dropped the bombs and accepted the surrender under the same terms that had already been offered.
The point is, why are the American leadership so eager to attack Iraq NOW when he has been in violation and contained for 12 years.
The point about the MOAB is that even if it is guided to hit a precise target, i.e. an airport, the residual casualties would be enormous.
We saw from the last gulf war that the amount of Iraqis that were killed was enormous compared to allied soldiers.
6,000 Iraqi soldiers were buried alive as Allied bulldozer filled in the trenches to allow the tanks to cross. The highway of death were the RETREATING Iraqi army were bombed on an open road with no means to defend themselves.
War is wrong, even when it can be seen to be justified, and this war cannot be justified by the rules of international law. Iraq was wrong in 1991 because they invaded another nation and this is what America and Britain now plan to do.

All the figures are from the UN.
Over 1.5 million Iraqis have been as a directresult of US sanctions ( 750,000 of them children ) Yes, Saddam Hussein is an Evil man and should be gotten rid of, but the UN cannot implement a regime change in a country because they have an evil dictator. Otherwise they would have to do the same in LIbya, Syria, Iran, N.korea, China etc.
The whole thrust of the US against Iraq is that he is a threat to the world with his WMD.
In 1998 UN inspectors claimed to have destroyed 90% of Iraqs WMD capabilities.
The US Has over 10,000 nuclear warheads and is the only country ever to have used them.
UNSCOM said in 1998 "Iraq had in fact been disarmed to a level unprecedented in modern history."
All i'm trying to point out is that the US has been inconsistant with its stance on Iraq. Donald Rumsfeld went to Iraq on a diplomatic tour AFTER the Iraqis had gassed their own people. Nothing was said at the time.
The Americans are initiating an aggresive war against another nation.
An American General said at the Nurenburg trials after WW2 " Germany is not on trial because it lost the war, but because it STARTED it"
well i had a very interesting conversation on friday night.
sorry to be so long letting you know what happened.. only one elder turned up and i was wrong in my original thought that my mum had given him my report, it seems he was coming to ask me to study, therefore he was totally unprepared for what was about to happen to him.
but, i have to say, that he was the most honest elder i have spoke to and i'm sure you will be surprised by some of the things he said.. he started off wanting to know what made me stop going to the meetings and i related to him my experiences of a certain body of elders that had, to say the least, made me realise that they thought that they were a law unto themselves (including stealing, lying and generally being un-christian).
If you look at the inside cover of the Awake up until oct 22nd 1995 it said:
'Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the creators promise of a peaceful and secure world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.
but from Awake! of November 8th 1995 it says:
'Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the creators promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked system of things.
They said it was the creators promise and then they made a liar out of him.

Thanks for the warning,
I was already prepared for that anyway and it just surprised the hell out of me that it went the way it did. I am under no illusions that I will probably be asked to a judicial commitee after the elder has thought about it.
But it was fun while it lasted. Just hope he comes back for soe more as I enjoyed getting it all off my chest instead of boring my wife about it.
