Changed Wording in February 2017 WT Article
by Ding inthe february 2017 wt had stated that the gb is "neither inspired nor infallible" and that it can make errors in doctrine.. the language of the online wt issue now says, “the governing body is neither inspired nor perfect.
therefore, it can make mistakes when explaining the bible or directing the organization.”.
why the change?

Neuroscience is amazing! Yes, the default network, the insula, all of this also relates to our beliefs and habits as well, including belief in God.
I know this is random, but neuroscience, Buddhism and linguistics helped me wiggle away from the WTS. Language, like anything else, evolves, and affects our perception and behavior as it does. If you don't have a word for "sour", then how does it taste? If you're told that God is in Heaven but listens to everyone's prayers in all languages, even in silence, that he cares if you cuss even if you really don't mind the word and the word has evolved over so many centuries, that God is unchanging while everything else evolves, at some point you have to wonder what this god is. You then realize there are no spirit creatures or gods to fear. You realize that if your physical brain was injured, you might not be the same you. If someone were to look inside your head, they'd see no "you" there. You realize a paradox, that you are the autonomous you, but there is no real you. You realize that you live in this world too, that there are perhaps multiple "yous" as your relationships differ with different people and circumstances, and that the "you" that matters most will be in pictures, memories, mementos, triumphs, failures, your actions and effects in the world.
I realized I am part of the world. And then I went to work proving the WTS was bullshit for myself.

To me it is the ability to see the world ego-less having the mind shut down the default mode network and the experience of total infinite oneness with no separation of a you and other like the big bang where everything that is, is a non dimensional point with infinite density.
Yeah, ya pretty much nailed it.
Do you practice meditation, Brokeback? I have in months past and enjoyed some benefits from it. I just did Tai Chi this morning with my wife, and I would like to start Aikido soon.
The word "mystical" increasingly seems synonymous with "metaphorical" to me, but has a lot to do with our physiology and psychology as we go through with this.
I also find doodling sacred geometry, including Metatron's Cube and the Tree of Life and the golden ratio, to be very very relaxing and soothing. They're also very helpful in art.

There are dumber or equally dumb organizations out there in this regard. Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis believes there was absolutely no death before the fall of man, and since all the land animals were made on the same day as man, there were dinosaurs on the Ark, too.
One theory I've heard is that animals will not eat each other for a period of time so as to fulfill prophecy, and then it's back to nature. I'd be more curious as to whether or not that happens within the millennial reign if I didn't know the answer is stupid either way.
I have met a family of vegan JWs. Just try to picture the most judgmental sister imaginable.

The Metropolitan Museum Oasis Bible Tours in NYC
by Beachlover ini just came home from a day in nyc and was taken to the met for the the woman and her offspring tour i went to keep peace and just enjoy my family.
i've been to the metrpolitan museum of art on many occasions and have enjoyed spending time wandering thru the exhibits appreciating the art and history.
since all family members wanted to do the tour by the wts entitled a woman and her offspring, i thought i could just follow along and just enjoy the art and exhibits.. in all honesty, i'm still amazed at this whole tour.

How is that any different from mainstream Christians acknowledging the pagan origins of Christmas and saying it's cleaned up and okay for the family today? I've seen JWs pass around a YouTube clip of Pat Robertson saying as much on the 700 Club, and they're so proud to point it out.

Well, ridicule is (mostly) the only weapon against unintelligible propositions.
I hear you. I get a lot of flack from family about being negative too, because I'm critical of our precious beliefs. I don't get it from work though, where my focus is on work.
I always roll my eyes at tests like that. They're just an excuse one way or another. A perceived type is often misperceived and does not ever constitute the whole you. I might find something interesting in a Jungian archetype or two, but even Jung would advise against identifying exclusively with any one of them.
