tell him that jesus probably didn't get married or it would have mentioned it in the bible, but at the same time we can't be 100% sure he didn't get married because it doesn't specifically say he didn't get married.

Bethel downsizing is still coming

i spoke with a bethelite (non-us) last week who says that a 20-25% downsize is coming at their bethel in the fall of 2016. this is in addition to the cutbacks of 2015. more will be sent out 'to the field'..

If that is the decrease in Africa it proves it's a worldwide thing, my parents were talking recently to a long term bethel couple in the UK. Apparently the bethel family there has been reduced from over 800 to 500 and further reductions soon will bring the number down to around 280.

Jehovah is truly speeding it up in it's own time!

Matthew 24 :14 VS Christ Jesus 100 + year Reign / Christendoms 2000+ year reign

it has been over 100 years since jesus christ was enthroned as king in the heavens in 1914 according to jehovah`s witnesses with the task of preaching "this good news of the kingdom" in all the inhabited earth .for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.. it`s been over 2000 years since this task was given to jesus disciples , who evolved into christendom over the centuries with many sects that abound today.. neither have succeeded in carrying out this task to completion and christendom has had far longer an opportunity to do so.

however jehovah`s witnesses claim they are the true religion with gods approval .. so you would expect a better achievement .

jesus christ has used up more than 100 years of his rule with no major accomplishments , it does not look like he is going to achieve any better than what christendom did in 2000 years.in fact by all accounts he is going to be far worse.. jehovah`s witnesses as a minority sect are becoming more irrelevant as each year passes.. even their "witnessing" has been dumb`d down so much that it is an embarrassment to observe in the field.. in the 60`s and 70`s their was an urgency to get this message across to people , today ?

Well said, there's not a single country in the world that the org has had success in preaching where Christendom didn't have success first. Yet the main line of evidence that Jah is backing the org is the extent of the preaching work ????

So who was backing Christendom's preaching campaign for 19 centuries?

1 - it has far less scriptural support.. let's face it both doctrines are designed to scare people into giving their time and money to a religion but those that teach hell fire can at least point to a number of bible verses that talk about fire and death/punishment together, whereas shunning is justified by one single verse that is simply saying don't give your blessing to the antichrist.

2 - emotional pain is generally worse than physical pain.. ask anyone who is grieving or on the wrong end of an unfaithful partner which they would rather have.

would you rather your wife, child or best friend died while still loving you or shunned you while alive?.

If someone tells you that you're going to hell but you don't believe in such a thing. ..happy days, who cares? On the other hand if you don't believe in shunning but everyone around you does there's nothing you can do about it, you can't even reason with them because they won't talk to you.

So the next time a jdub tries to claim the higher ground because their precious organization doesn't believe in hell fire, know that they are talking pish.

Dress and grooming

i know this is an old topic, but it came to mind again.... yes it is appropriate for people to dress neatly and respectfully for a dignified religious gathering, but why does it have to be a full suit with collared shirt and tie?.

why does it have to be a full dress or skirt and jacket?.

sure, we would find it distasteful for a person to arrive in swimwear or work overalls or other inappropriate attire, but why does it have to conform to strict standards?.

best type error ever one eyed Joe! The required dress code is apparently the same as the meeting content and the organization. there must be a proverb that says something like 'you can't groom a shit'

Should I stay married to my JW wife

me and my wife were at the beach the other day and i finally told her, i don't think i believe in god anymore.

i fessed up to the fact that it started with me doubting some jw beliefs and then it just led me to this point where i don't even believe in god.

i wouldn't say that i even have a negative view towards jw's or religion in general.

I think the best question asked is how strong is your marriage? Can you talk openly with your wife? A big indicator could be seeing how she reacts to what you've told her so far, whether or not she tells the elders about your lack of belief.

If you can answer yes to these two questions then you can be fairly confident your family will be stronger than the cult. after a period of time I would go for having kids, why miss out on life's greatest experience?

Hello all, RC video convention times and duration

my question is this....do any of you know on what days the videos will show, for how long and which ones?.

my plan is leave my seat with my son's when the bunker video comes on and more videos that are stronger with the.

Absolute blind obedience. No accountability.

it's interesting to observe that in all aspects of life, leaders are accountable to those they lead.. politicians must fulfil their promises, or they are replaced from government.. business corporate leaders like ceos must perform, or they are replaced.. sports coaches and trainers must win, or they are replaced.. yet there are leaders who have often been wrong, have made serious ,mistakes and failed predictions that have impacted the lives of millions.. they have dictated decisions for the lives of millions, yet they can't even be questioned...even in a sincere or polite manner..

The same dynamic exists in North Korea, their leaders have made huge mistakes and hidden/changed embarrassing parts of their history, they refuse to be questioned by outsiders or their own people and they openly criticize every other type of government.

Yet most of the people will tell you life in North Korea is the best life ever!

a few years ago they had a similar talk and my mother stopped talking to my sister.

It will cause some to wake up but sadly there will be more victims as many jdubs take the convention stuff very seriously.

It sounds like the fear level is really being raised this time round with all the crazy GT videos. In years to come this convention will prove to be another embarrassment to the org because those videos will stay on the internet forever, however in the meantime more good people will suffer.
