  First of all, welcome! I think you will find that there will be many people here who will be welcoming and accepting. Ignore the fights that sometimes go on, and enjoy the folks who are here to socialize and help each other.

  However, if you are serious about wanting to join Jehovah's Witnesses, you should know that you will have a hard time doing that online. The Watchtower Society discourages Witnesses from associating online, and so many Witnesses won't come to places like this. Obviously, you are at such a site, and there are people here, so cleary not everyone listens to the Watchtower Society. But that explains why you will see many opposers here. In any case, all are welcome here, and that includes you.

  just finished watching the news on the tube saying that the u.s. is gonna get hit by terrorists again sometime this week !

  ashcroft says they dont know were or when but sources say there will be another terrorist attack on the u.s. this week !

  A) This isn't the first time Ashcroft has given this warning, so let's not get too panicky.

  B) Terrorists are going to strike again...and again...and again...for many years and decades to come. That's the nature of terrorism, and as long as Bush inanely talks about eradicating the "evil ones," he won't get it.

  Allow me to 'measure out' the WTS's standards, which you evidently subscribe to.

  So sad, reduced to random insults. Not true, btw. You would know this if you stuck around here long enough.

  Also, if you guys can get off your lazy butts you might run across information, like, the Mormons and the WTS is the same organization.

  Evidently you didn't read my previous response carefully, or you would have noticed I have already done research in this area. So calling me names while ignoring my point won't get you anywhere.

  I didn't include it because I couldn't validate it.

  Fine. Let us know when you find some validity to your ideas.

  And when you come across it I expect you to be overtly selective in dismissing evidences that doesn't match you preconcieved ideas and prejudices; the reason you'll do this is because it's the watchtower way (my, aren't I being judgmental?).

  My whole life is a repudiation of the watchtower way, so you weren't just being judgmental, you were also wrong in your judgments. I have no preconceived ideas and prejudices, as my handle indicates. I'm perfectly willing to believe anything -- I only ask for evidence.

  Now, go ahead and prove it wrong or make it easier on yourselves by walking away and forgetting it.

  I think your repeated wrong assumptions about me are self-evident. Feel free to back up your words with substance next time. That's how we do things around here.

  Externally, I'm the opposite of a goth. Internally, I'm too cheerful to ever succeed as a goth. In my soul, however, I'm so non-conformist that I consider goths to be my distant cousins intellectually. I feel a kinship, something that would shock most goths until they got to know me.

  Yes, you shared it with me, and so have many others, and so have many web sites I have read. The one thing none of you has done is what you have consistently refused to do here: provide evidence. I see assertions all over the place, but nothing to back up these assertions no matter where I look.

  How very interesting! I never knew this one. So they used to say it was in the abyss during WWI, and then when WWII came along they just swapped it to that war instead. I wonder what they would have done had WWIII happened, and with it the temporary dissolution of the UN?

  Of course, none of this matters cuz they are 'just imperfect humans' and all that, but ol' Rutherford sure sounded confident of what he was saying back in 1930, and ol' Knorr sure sounded confident of what he was saying in 1942, and until just a couple of years ago they sounded confident that the 'disgusting thing' stood in the holy place from 1919 onward, until they decided to play nice with the UN and push that to the future, and...

  I think it's good that humans only live so many years, and that they have faulty memories. Otherwise the contradictory teachings of the WTS would begin to fold in on itself in one collective heap.

  this is just a few thoughts that i have regarding the subject of anonimity.

  yes, i am making this post after being in the chat room with several others including kent and prisca.

  it seemed to me that kent posted prisca's pic mainly out of sheer mischievousness and was quite taken aback at her very real distress at having her identity exposed.

  Yikes! I hope this isn't a reflection of personal growth, for I've already stated my desire to use anonymity forever, for reasons that have nothing to do with my JW background. I was a private person before being a JW, during, and afterward. Just my nature not to open up in public, but only with my friends and colleagues.

  This doesn't hold me back, nor does it rule my life, nor does it shape my decisions. It is a conscious choice I have made for pragmatic purposes that transcend the usual WTS-inspired reasons here. If this means I am and will remain immature emotionally, I'd better re-think my position.

  i have not followed very many threads of late, so if someone has already made the same observations i'm about to make, i apologize for my redundancy.. .

  i admit it: i'm part of a highly secretive, highly elite group.

  (we have to drink two quarts of fresh yak blood and get a tattoo of a pentagram on our butts as part of of the initiation.
