Some things are hard to understand, I can't figure out how anyone
borrowing to buy a house and pay it off over 20-30 years, doesn't
consider that the current (still) low interest rate are not permanent
and could increase.
There are both fixed rate and variable rate mortgages. Sometimes a variable rate is a bit lower. If interest rates increase, your payment increases, if they decrease, your payment decreases.
Fixed rate stays the same over life of the loan.
Sometimes variable rates are easier to get for a first time buyer but most people I know who have gone that route refinance at some point and lock in to a fixed rate to eliminate that stress of rising interest rates.
Someone who took out a loan in 2000 on a variable rate would have done pretty well over the past 20 years since rates have gone down on average, but too much of a gamble for me. If you bought your house in 2020 on a variable rate.....Yikes!.

Are You Concerned About Inflation?
by Simon ini saw a statistic the other day that something like 25% of all the debt that the us has incurred since 1776 was created in the last 12 months.
that's because they have printed so much currency and instead of letting that stop them, they are going to continue printing more to go on a spending spree on crazy green-new-deal schemes and union handouts.. does anyone think that this can be anything other than inflationary?
they are effectively stealing the wealth of everyone to then hand money out to people.

Inflation is definitely noticeable (some products more than others) but it doesn't feel like 20%. Not sure how they calculate 'real inflation' though. From what I read, people who are renting or need to purchase a car are getting hammered right now.
For myself, the most noticeable areas have been groceries and gasoline. The price of gas has been offset for me because my company is permanently work at home, so a full tank will last me a month now instead of a week when I was commuting.
Groceries are odd. At the big box grocery store some things have gone up alot and some only a little. For example, the coffee I used to buy there has nearly doubled in price, but if I buy it at ALDI or Trader Joe's, it's only about a dollar more than it was a year ago. Canned goods, the price difference is not noticeable. Meat prices are insane everywhere unless you catch a sale. Produce is hit or miss. Some things like melons are about the same as they are every summer, but citrus is really expensive. Tomatoes, Onions, Cabbage, Potato....may have gone up, i dont remember the exact price a year ago, but not noticeably.
Anything pre-packaged, has gone up alot. Frozen Pizza's, Microwave dinners, even cereal. But I generally avoid that stuff inflation or not. -

Should a Christian celebrate Christmas?
by Samsie inhello, i'm new here and have woken up to the real truth concerning the org.
i'm sort of fading away at the moment.... i need help with something, i used to as a child celebrate christmas and have always had amazing memories of it (my husband hasn't as he was born into the org) but i gave it up when i learnt the "truth".
my interest was only in pleasing god and still is.

BUT I can't help but feel so conflicted and guilty, because it's pagan right? So how can it be right to?
Do you honestly believe that an omniscient, immortal, universe creator (if it existed) would care about such trivialities? -

What do you mean by "coordination of clothing" and "arrangement for heights"? My last convention was age 18 in June 1991, so i'm unfamiliar with new practices.

@Anony Mous
Lol, I could see that one coming when I first looked at the graph. But seriously, what makes you think giving more people access to affordable insurance would bring down average life expectancy? Why aren't Britain, Canada, Germany, Italy and France flatlining? -

May we never forget just how radical these words were in 1776.
Charles 1 was executed in 1649. The Revolution was a continuation of what started in Britain 100+ years earlier. Even the constitution was basically just codifying what was won in the previous 100 years in Britain. I guess you could call it radical, but to say the United States emerged from a vacuum is kinda ignorant. -

The "Ransom" doctrine makes no sense. Not the Witness interpretation nor mainstream Christianity's.
According to scripture he was dead for 3 days. So the "sacrifice" was giving up a long weekend. Then, if one is a trinitarian, it becomes even more nonsensical. He sacrificed himself to himself to save humanity from himself. There may or may not have been some person in Palestine who preached the admirable things that Jesus was said to have said. But countless human beings throughout history have been tortured and executed, who didn't have the comfort of being an immortal deity. (assuming you believe that part of the story).
