Interesting question, and important to me. Physical appearance had a lot to do with my marriage breaking up.
I am definitely NOT attracted to heavy women. Sorry, no offense, and I have lots of women friends who are larger - it's just that there is absolutly no physical attraction there for me. Was a huge issue for me when my slim, built 110 pound bride added a lot of weight in our last 10 years together. I had no problems at 130, 140 pounds, but definitely began to deal with some serious desire issues when it went quite a ways up from that.
I find physically attractive women who are very fit, slim and athletic. Good looks, but they don't have to be classically beautiful - a different kind of beauty I find highly attractive - say an Uma Thurman face as opposed to a Rebeccah Romin face.
Beyond the physical, I love intelligence, humor, artistic ability and a woman who is passionate about something.
All of those things sum up why I'm with Lori. That's her in my avatar.

Looks like those two sites are exactly what the QB is saying are wrong. Looks like they'll have to go!
Once again, the WTS shoots self in foot, while foot is stuck firmly in mouth.
What idiots!

For Those That Married JW, Did You Have Sex Before Your Wedding?
by Good Girl or Bad Girl? ini'm sure this has been covered before.
i'm wondering, though, how many who got married as a jehovah's witness actually waited for their wedding day?
it's for a "good cause," namely my peace of mind.

We never actually had intercourse until our wedding night, but we did a LOT of petting and masturbation. This was in the 1969-1972 period, and today what we did would be considered fornication.
What's cool is that I no longer feel guilty about it!! We also never told the elders.

Stephanus,
Yep, but I'd run it up against a typical toasted cheese sandwich (as we a call them here in the US) anyday! I love simple, easy to make food with a few twists and really good, fresh ingredients. I'd recommend reading an article in last week's NY Times called 101 10 Minute Meals It's not really recipes, per se, but just ideas like I used, and the best cooking info I've read in a long time. Dozens of really cool, quick ideas for meals. It was also the 2nd most popular article in the paper for the month of July.
I would also suggest that, if you want to have an interesting and delicious variation on the typical toasted cheese sandwich, add peanut butter. Awesome.
Stillajw: Very funny!

NEED HELP finding info on disassociating those who aren't active.....
by Lady Liberty indear friends,.
i need help finding when, how and where i might find that announcement..publication...where the new procedure was not to announce ones as being dfed..but now they were to be annnounced as "no longer one of jehovahs witnesses".
with that change, it made it so that those who were not active could technically be announced.

I remember that quote, Besty. I think it was actually a way of treating as DFed folks who'd left and had obviously "deliberately reject(ed) the faith and beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses..." without actually having to have a JC meeting and announcement.
Some viewed this much more strictly than others!

I completely agree with Sir182 on this one. If your elders told you that, LL, they were way off base, which doesn't surprise me at all!
That announcment is NOT a way to get rid of inactive ones.
My take on it is that it is the same announcement for a DFing or if someone DAed themselves, and its end result is that the person is viewed and treated as DFed. It's probably some kind of legal protection for the WTS, and completely obscures the line between DFing and DAing.

Martha Stewart, Rachel Ray - bring them on. It's just that they are soooo easy to parody.
And I think I spelled Emril wrong.
I guess there are a hell of a lot of cooking/food shows around the world, eh??
Food is such an important part of every culture. I'm doing a series of three articles formy paper on spending a week eating as a localvore - just using foods from within a 100 mile radius of my home. Sounds easier than it is, though this is the ideal time of year to do that here. I'm eating like a king! Fresh salads, local duck eggs, venison steaks, local potatoes, milk, cream, cheese and butter.
I'm a pretty simple cook - I'm kind of in the four ingredients per dish category.
For supper tonight I sliced locally made bread from locally grown wholegrain, sliced it thick, put on butter, slices of tomato from my own garden, covered that with sharp cheddar cheese made at the farm down the road, then slid them under the broiler til the bread browned and the cheese and butter melted. Ate it with a glass of local whole milk. Quick, easy and awesome!

MRP, you wrote in your first post: "I do know however of hundreds of elders who protected children, and families that raised happy children. I am one of them. I do feel a lot for you here on this site, and I can relate to what some of you say. Especially "Seeker4" for some reason, he is so sincere but respectful."
Thank you for the compliment. I just now read your posts, and as many of the replies as I had time for. You've gotten some good advice here, and plenty to think about.
I didn't leave the Witnesses because I was stumbled by the friends or the UN/NGO thing. I had wonderful friendships, and there are JWs that I ache to see and talk with to this day.
I left because of inconsistencies and problems that I had seen in WTS teachings and in the Bible from the time I became a Witness. For instance: today I was working on an article about an archaeological dig in my state where they are unearthing Indian artifacts dating back 11,000 years. There is solid scientific evidence to back this up, but if I was a JW, I couldn't believe that. Why not? Because WTS chronology tells me that Adam was created just 6,032 years ago this October.
Now, I might be the most loving, Christian man you could imagine. I might be a wonderful father to the fatherless boys and girls in my congregation. I might totally give my life to help those in need around me, and preach like a house on fire - BUT, if I were to say, "Man can't possibly have just been created in the Middle East 6,032 years ago, if there is evidence all over the globe of humans being here for 20,000 years or more," I would be considered a wicked man, I could not serve as a Witness elder, and if I dared to mention this fact to others, I would be disfellowshipped. Why? Because the Witness are not so much Christians as they are followers of the WTS and worshippers of the Bible.
The examples you gave about Witness love and happiness and not going to war can be found in parts of all religions everywhere. I know, I've read them by the score, and I know that, just like Jehovah's Witnesses, these other religions are led to feel that their experiences make them unique from all others.
Take these few examples and multiply them by 1000, and you get to where I was in the mid-1990s when the WTS changed several things: the King of the North disappeared, and everything the WTS had prophesied about that just went down the tubes; after being told we were doing the all important seperating work for decades, we were suddenly told that the seperating of the sheep and goats hadn't even begun yet; and the clincher was when they backed off from that mainstay of Witness theology - the 1914 generation. That did it for me. That's when I decided I'd been made a fool of far too often, thank you, and I took the time to investigate all the questions and concerns I had about WTS teachings and the Bible.
As others have stated, the WTS, and believing that the Bible is an inspired, perfect book, are simply houses of cards that collapse under careful scrutiny. There is a reason the new September KM outlaws outside research - the WTS cannot stand up against the wall of evidence contrary to what it teaches.
These are just a few of the things that made me leave the Witnesses. I agree that there are some wonderful brothers and sisters, and I know as you do that none of them are getting rich off their life at Bethel or elsewhere. But that is hardly a basis for claiming that they have "The Truth."
I'd be glad to talk with you personally if you want to PM me. I'm glad you're here, and I hope you stay for a while. Unlike one of your comments, this is not anything like a religion or an organization. It's something far more wonderful - it is a forum for the free and open exchange of ideas, and a place where the merits - or lack of merit - of those ideas will be hotly debated.
Welcome! This is a place for freedom of thought, and it can be a bit overwhelming at first for a JW. But stick around, it's quite an experience.

Here's the thread with the info on the Question Box. Quite fascinating.

A few other thoughts on 1975:
I remember a brother stating that if January 1976 came around, he was gone. That pretty much happened.
A CO in our circuit called on this home and the guy's number plate was JAH. His name was Jim A. Hogan, and he was a state police officer. Using 1975 and the guy's number plate, the CO started a study with him, and this guy was all gungho.
He studied, got baptized, quit his job, sold off stuff so he could Pioneer. Well, when 1975 came and went, Jim left as well.
