WHY the JWD SITE IS VITALLY IMPORTANT!!

This discussion board is vitally important now, and will become even more important in the coming years.

Why? Lots of reasons, but here's just one from my own experience:

For many years I was a super zealous, firm believing JW. Elder, Pioneer all of it. I was not on the fringes, I was in the middle of it. As a friend recently said, I was an "elder's elder."

I couldn't imagine leaving the Witnesses. It was my life, despite the fact that I knew some things being taught did not make sense. I was willing to "wait on Jehovah" to straighten things out. Even when I saw that things were not getting better, in fact more problems were coming to the fore, I was still afraid to think about leaving.

I stepped down as an elder on my own, but I was determined to set the best example of being an ex-elder as possible. I still couldn't imagine not being a Witness.

What made the difference? What gave me the courage to leave? The old H2O site, which was very similar to this one, along with a few other ex-JW sites. THEY CONFIRMED THAT MY DOUBTS ABOUT THE WTS WERE TOTALLY LEGITIMATE.

That was a vital point for me. It's one thing to be in the midst of 1000s of Witnesses and realize that lots of what you're hearing doesn't make sense, but it does, you assume, to everyone else, so the problem must be in you. What H2O and JWD have done for me is provide contact with 1000s of others for whom WTS teachings no longer made sense. Coming here, I knew I wasn't just being bad and rebellious and prideful - I was simply reacting to nonsense with intelligence and reason, and lots of other JWs were doing the same.

Talks like the anti-education one at the DC, and now this new KM Questiion Box denouncing study of any literature outside of the WTS's, is going to hit a lot of JWs real hard. With JWD, relief will be just a mouse click away.

I've thought about moving on from this, but I don't think so. Considering all the newbies that have come on here in the last few weeks BEFORE this KM came out, this site is more important than ever. And if we're seeing the start of a clamping down by the WTS and Governing Body, we're about to witness a serious exodus from the JW ranks.

I agree. It's hard to make the transition while you're feeling all alone. Some have done it, and kudos to them.

But if you find yourself having doubts this discussion board takes those issues seriously. If you find yourself suddenly DF'd and without support, this board is a sort of safety net. You really are NOT alone.

Think how easy that would be to leave on little leaflets or even just blurt out to dubs on the street.

I was deep in it too...elder, pioneer, lots of other privileges in the region....lots of other things I dont really talk about here since it would ID me in 2 seconds.

I was removed last year and since then I have become an occasional attender and a phantom time reporter My current BOE (diff congo from where I was removed) think it is all because of events that happened to me over the last year. Partly true, and I let them believe it is the only reason. Not for one second do any of them smell apostate here.

I stay in this rotten cult for my friends, but my mind left about 4 months ago. I am trapped only in that I still attend from time to time. I go when I am motivated to go. I am reading CoC...at the urging of many of you here...and yes, I will post again to let you know what I think....I knew about this book but never would have borrowed it if not for many here.

THANK YOU FROM A RELATIVE NEWCOMER TO JWD. AND thank you to Simon for keeping this board running so long. I too am staying to try to help some here. Who knows, maybe the one I help is one of my close friends who is hiding behind an avatar.

This site has in fact done much to expose the truth about the Truth. There are many on this board with access to publications, and they work so hard to get them posted here. Many make the supreme sacrifice to make the a$$emblies just so they can post the essence of them here. Still others integrate the whole thing, along with personal experiences and speculation, to try to predict the future of the Tower and those trapped within.

No wonder the Tower is so hard on the Internet. They do not want people to have this or any other forum to escape to. All they want people to think about is the current lies that are coming from the Governing Body. H2O has doubtlessly helped many, as is this board (even with the technical headaches and glitches that are all too common). People come here for comfort, for insight on the truth, and no one feels pressured in any religious bias (I happen to be antitheist now; many are atheist or agnostic, others are seeking Christian affiliation; this board supports all of these viewpoints).

Even with the complainers, I haven't seen any exJW board do as well as this one has. And I would like to see several of them thriving--some are doing respectable, but this one is the Big Board. True, I would have still gone apostate either way. But, this board is a vehicle for me to help other apostates and wanna-be apostates to get started, as well as help those still trapped in the Watchtower Society's upcoming crackdowns to get their brains back. While it's true that I present one viewpoint, I like alternate viewpoints so others can make up their own minds and find the real truth on their own. And this board does that.

Thank you for that heartfelt post! I totally agree with you!! Thank you for reminding all of us that even though some topics are old news for us..(bible and WT topics) we need to remember that posting this information or bringing it to the fore is what the newbies and lurkers are possibly looking for. I would hate for them to pass this site by because they didn't see anything discussed that they needed or had questions about.

Seeker4..This years new arrangements are bizzare to say the least..Alot of old school JW`s are going to be wondering:"What the F*ck is going on?"..It`s not like the old days now,is it?..This is the information age and JWD is just a mouse click away....I don`t know if you were around during the 1975 Fiasco..That hit alot of people hard..WBT$ lost 25% of it`s membership.....How many will they lose this time?...OUTLAW
