Our assembly overseer from many years ago, Don Nicholson, was an active pedophile for many years, molesting lots of young girls in his congregation, while serving as an elder and AO. He was convicted and sent to prison.
Another longtime elder I knew had a major part in a drama and many, many privileges over many years, all while having an affair that seems to have lasted a couple of decades.

Know anyone who was appointed to a position wile doing something wrong??
by karter inone guy an accountant was made an elder wile he was stealing money from people he was doing there accounts for lots of j.ws and others.. the tax dept said "it was a very sophisticated scam" got prosecuted for $880.000 but much more involved went to jail for 2 to 3 years.. another made p.o got caught screwing his own daughter.. to many drunks to mention..

Alcoholism in England-How do the Elders deal with this?
by CaptainSchmideo inas i understand it, drinking in the uk is not as stigmatized as it is in the us.
going to the pub after the sunday meeting is on a par with going to the all-you-can-eat chinese buffet over here in the us.. so, if a person has real problems with drinking, and asks for help, how do the elders handle this?
if they themselves tipple overmuch, how can they be unbiased in rendering judicial matters in this regard?.

Usually the body of elders takes the wayward brother to the local pub and they discuss his problem over a few pints, as would be true of any clear thinking, civilized group of people.

How my body feels all the rest of the day after an intense, early morning workout.
Cuddling on the couch with a good movie, holding hands.
A good drink in the evening when I'm ready to settle down.
Flannel sheets in the winter.
The laughter of my kids or grandkids.
Late night music on the stereo by candlelight, talking and listening.

She probably took her comments section down due to the reactions she received for some very, very dumb comments she has made about history and science. They are posted on YouTube, and she comes across as ignorant and poorly educated. Interestingly, some of the comments were on religion and Bible history when she got into it with Whoppi Goldberg.
It's one thing to say stupid things when you're sitting around the table with friends, but quite another to display such ignorance on a national television program with millions of people watching!

BETHELITES - Whatever Became of?
by Black Man ini often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.

I remember a few that have been mentioned since I posted about the Spatzs.
Sau Ling Chain - In the Art Dept. with Eunice Spatz. Her husband Cyril is in writing, and used to teach languages at Gilead.
George & Phyllis Smith - He ran the Photog Dept at one time. Not sure if he still does. His son married a sister in my old congregation. They're divorced now, but still active JWs. Go figure...
