The less JWs know about anything negative to the WTS, the more vulnerable they are to someone who really knows his stuff. The Org thinks it's protecting itself by this demonizing of anything not printed by the WTS. They are so wrong, as many of us JWD are living proof.

I like Kenny Wayne Shepherd very much. Buddy is one of the greatest. I've seen him many times - the first was him opening for Led Zeppelin back in 1971 in NYC.
There are a ton of really fine blues guitarists and a handful of greats. Gary Moore is one of the lesser known but great ones.

we had a compitition running in one of our local newspapers offering 2 people a 3 month programe of serious fitness training.
i'm the type that will occassionally go to the gym, take a stroll, but i entered because i would really really love to get fit and get into the healthy lifestyle (not that i'm unhealthy).
i got a call today to say i'm in the top 8 - i'm so excited.
Lori and I did a 90 Day Extreme Fitness program over the winter. It gave me the best winter I've had in a long time. I came out of it 20 pounds lighter, cut my bodyfat to under 12%, can do 10 pull ups, way over 50 pushups, toss around some serious iron and I can run for miles.
We're actually using the program as a lifetime fitness approach. I'm at an age where I just want to get extremely fit and stay there. I've got about 8-10 pounds to go, or 3-4% body fat to get to the extreme level I want, and it's going well. I've got no problems hitting the beach this summer!! Lori looks awesome, better than most women half her age. For me, getting a six-pack in my mid-50s is too cool for words!
I hope you get to do this. It's literally like growing younger, where you look better and feel better every day. Exercise is the best anti-aging thing going!

I work on a Mac at the office, a PC at home.
The Mac is sexier, but I have some problems with it, like I can't do a lot of stuff on this site, such as bold or ital. That could be Firefox.

The kid's great for an 8yo, but a ways to go to be a Buddy Guy!
I was hanging with Buddy's guitar tech when I was covering a concert a few years ago and got to play Buddy's polka dot Strat. Got the used strings of it too.

today i saw 2 elders at my mother's , waiting outside, "worrying" that something might've happened to her because she didn't answer her door.
(i had just brought her back from her doctor's appt.).
when they saw me, one immediately said, we want your number to call you in case we need to get in touch with you.
Yeah, Undercover. The last two elders who called on me included an old friend and good guy, and a CO who was, or at least tried to be, a spiritual bully. I didn't let him get away with anything, but there are still things I wish I'd said.
The CO had never met me before, and he tried to say some things about me that were so full of shit. I called him on those. I think they are kind of shocked not to be treated like something special. I'd love to see that guy again and tell him a couple of more things that I should have told him the first time around!
Spiritual bullies is a perfect description of some of those jokers, especially some of the COs and a bunch of elders I knew. I wouldn't hesitate now with that ass to grab him by the collar and toss him out the front door for a couple of the things he said, while inviting my old friend to stay and finish the conversation!
Imagine actually doing that and having one of those fat farts try to take a poke at you! I've got a few frustrations from my JWhood days that might make bitch slapping some jerk of a CO a very satisfying experience.

That's something that bugs me about the elders, how they always like to just drop in on people. Looking back, I would NEVER agree now to let the brothers in if they arrived unannounced. There is a certain advantage they have in catching someone off guard like that. My advice if the elders knock unexpectedly at your door is to say they caught you at a bad time and then make an appointment to have them come back at your convenience. Then you've got time to be prepared for them. The same would go if they unexpectedly tried to talk with you privately at the Kingdom Hall. Take the advantage of surprise away from them.
Now, I would ALWAYS force them to make an appointment. Not that there's likely to ever be a time that they would WANT to talk with me again!

I had a PDF of the April 15, 2008 Watchtower, and on page 6 it says:
"However, we know that when human teachings contradict what God has revealed, it is ALWAYS the human teachings that are wrong. (Read Romans 3:4)"
The ALWAYS was italicized, not caps, but I don't have ital. It's statements like that that are driving the thinking JWs away. And it's also interesting that the WT now tells them which scriptures to read during the study. God, I'm sooooo glad to be outta there!!
