  48% Capacity at Kingdom Halls - A post on reddit

  there was a letter read this week, followed by a talk about all the changes that are coming in the next couple of months regarding merging congregations in the area (va/md/dc) - the letter said that the kh's in the area are only being filled to 48% capacity.

  this was music to my ears as i have noticed the decline in attendance in all the neighboring congregations.

  they will sell some kingdom halls and merge some congregations.

  JWs could spin this all the way down to 10% by saying narrow is the road to life few will find. There is a definite trajectory of down hill, just maybe there is a blessing taking place.

  How do you talk to a child that believes Jehovah/Armageddon is real

  i'm having some serious issues with my child, she is now 5 and her mother is teaching her all sorts of things regards god, jehovah is real, in heaven, pray if you're scared, etc.

  the problem is the kid is scared of demons at night and also conflicted that i don't believe, she also figured out jehovah doesn't actually help her not to be scared.. i've tried explaining that i'm there for her, watching over at night.

  i've tried introducing her to various churches and beliefs so she understands there is a difference in believes and she likes those churches better than kingdom hall.

  It's just that children grow out of believing fairytales, Armageddon story is the never ending santa story, won't bring presents for being naughty . I your loving god will kill you children for eating Easter eggs.

  Crossing the Elders

  few things draw my interest as much as people on this board who talk about the elders, the insidious little toadies who lurk around kingdom halls, the proverbial big fish in little ponds.

  it amazes me the terror and the veneration they inspire, as well as the occasional ridicule.

  it makes me wonder how they're selected and whether most of them come into the position with a sense of power, entitlement, authority and control, or whether many of them are pretty nice people and that i'm just hearing about the bad apples?

  The whole elder arrangement is for delivering the punishment to those weak bastards who were expected to only marry Jws which left a 3 to 1 ratio men to women. These poor sisters, some never found love because of bullshit bible reading. All hierarchical jw priests will lend a hearing ear to your dirty indiscretions, it's just a man dominating man to injury.

  Told My Parents Yesterday That I Don't Want to Be a JW

  i wasn't entirely sure what to expect when i made the decision to tell my parents how i really feel, but i was prepared for the worst, fortunately, it didn't come to that.

  after i told them i didn't want to go to the meetings anymore it led to a long talk with them.

  they made a number of irksome and woefully uninformed statements but at least they were not aggressive and have said that they won't force me to move out over this, though, i can tell they are hoping they can convince me to "accept the truth," as long as i still live with them.

  That's one thing I'm greatfull for when parents not Jw . Saethydd your own circumstances will have unique challenges but you can't for your own sanity get cast back toward Jw spell. Their people on here who will guide you toward good, unconditional love exists with in these members. We are all just giving each other a lift when life gets heavy.

  i personally would like to see they get the very best but haven't a clue how to do it what are your benevolent words of wisdom, should a person do a deep research on his own a kind of self medication or should they brush up on some psychology,, who should they trust because after you leave you got big trust issues.. i don't know about you but to me it was a real shocker, i was totally into getting their worthless bull shit out of my head.

  i choose the self medicate path and did as must research as time would allow,, science was a biggie for me, it was enjoyable learning to get so much bull shit out of my head..
