This cult is reactionary now and only changes things do to running out of time or do to some court case that exposes them.

Just realized they changed maybe the most important scripture in the bible.
by Crazyguy ini just read the scripture then went and checked in thier older bible and it read the same so i check the greek interlinear and yes they changed john 3:16 .
the verse reads "all who believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life" the cult version says "exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life".. so not only do they say one must exercise faith meaning having to work for it but also they changed should not perish but having everlasting life to might not be destroyed again making a caveat where one does not exist.
just to add to the point verse 18 in both bibles says the one having faith is not judged, totally blowing up thier version of 16 but of course they change 18 to say exercising faith too but it makes little difference, since it says not judged.

Heard the verse john 3:16 again today at meeting and again it really stands out when they state in their bible the phrase “might not parish “ when most Bible read “should not parish”
“should not “ sounds to me like a positive statement that makes me think most likely will not where the phrase “ might not” sound more like the odds are not good but just maybe. Maybe I’m just mincing words but these kind of changes really do in my opinion change the meaning of scriptures and people perceptions.

Speaking of songs
by road to nowhere inthe part last week about entertainment actually was not too over the top especially considering it was chaired by tony.

30 years after leaving utterly unrecognisable
by Number 6 inthis is the first time i have posted on here in many years..... i seldom visit now although this forum was instrumental to me in gaining my sanity in the early 2000's and recovering from the watchtower religion.. by chance tonight i was on youtube and caught a jw.org video which out of curiosity prompted me to look at the official website and amongst other things i looked up the music section.. why that i hear you ask?
music is my passion and nothing reminds me more or evokes more memories than the kingdom songs i grew up listening to.. i am 49 years old and my mother was baptised in 1974. i grew up in the era of pink songbooks and green bibles.
of the theology of fred franz and types and anti-types.

The songs now seem as though they were created to drive people out of the cult. I don’t know their just bad!

What is the biggest doctrinal mistake made by the Watchtower /JWorg. ?
by Finkelstein inpersonally i think it is 1914 and the following " this generation " doctrine.. this particular doctrine went right against jesus's own words of " no one knows of the time not even he " .
he also admonished his true followers to not set a time upon god's own sacred time .. the leaders of the wts even back to the late 1800's set a time calculated on their own theology 1874 being the first time set and proclaimed by c t russell, also proclaiming 1914 would likely be the year of the final day of judgment armageddon.
all throughout the 20th century the wts held to this doctrine but was eventually revised of course when it was realized this generation had passed away who saw the events of 1914. .

The 75 push followed by the generation will not pass away got them growth up into the 90s but now their in decline.

What is the inside info on "Reasoning From the Scriptures?"
by stillin ini understand why the witnesses won't actually "reason" from the scriptures; because they will have to come to grips with the fact that others have their own reasons, scripture-based, for believing differently than the jw's.. the "reasoning" book was supposed to arm the r&f with solid scriptural backing that could withstand most in-depth conversations.
so, why is it gathering dust now?
was there some doctrinal issue specifically?.
-
Crazyguy2
The reasoning book stated the world was going to end by the end of the twentieth century or at least the end of the system of things. So there’s that not really a big deal unless your against false prophecies!
