Evolution is a Fact #34 - Hiccups and Tadpoles
by cofty inhiccups are a weird phenomena.
they are a combination of two involuntary actions - firstly a rapid inhalation of breath followed 35 milliseconds later by the glottis at the back of the throat suddenly closing off our airway.. our normal breathing is controlled by a "central pattern generator" in a small region of the brain stem close to the boundary with the spinal cord.
a signal is sent along the vagus and phrenic nerves resulting in a rhythmic contraction of muscles in chest, diaphragm and throat.. these nerves branch off right at the top of the spinal cord and follow a convoluted path through the chest cavity.

Yeah, I'm sorry, I could never get behind the FE argument. It's entertaining hearing some people's viewpoint on it, but it's always just so convoluted.
The guy in the first video obviously doesn't know how or why the moon is tidally locked, and the way the disc moon would move for that theory to work is exactly what he scoffed at in the beginning of the video.
He can't understand why we only see one side of the moon, (tidally locked) but he's OK with the top of the moon always pointing at the center of the FE.
It makes me wonder if flat earth people have ever looked at the moon through a telescope to see the impact craters and scarring from billions of years of asteroid impacts.
The guy in the second video is saying the tides don't make sense, yet the tides are predicted with very good accuracy. I don't buy the theory that it's electromagnetism. Where would the magnetism come from? The amount of electromagnetism it would take to affect something like the ocean which is non metallic, would wreak havoc on anything metal like steel ships or buildings. Gravity pulls on everything equally no matter the material its made of, the oceans just have so much mass and can move freely, so that's where it is noticeable. The earths molten core has tides as well.
On that subject, take any liquid and either drop it, or put it in a zero G environment, and it takes the shape of a sphere. Raindrops are spheres because they are falling (basically zero G, gravity has no effect on the shape when it's already falling) and that's the natural shape they assume.
When the earth formed it was molten liquid rock in a zero G environment. Even now we're sitting on rock floating on liquid. If we weren't, there would be no magnetic field, no tectonic plates, and no earthquakes. So to me it only makes sense that this planet and all others are spheres, its the natural shape you can observe in real time with any falling liquid.
I mean no disrespect with these posts, to each their own, as long as you don't knock on my door on Saturday morning to tell me about the Flat Earth Society or make my family shun me because I think the earth is round haha :) I just find it enjoyable debating flat earth and trying to wrap my head around other people's theories.

@Truthexplorer, I stumbled onto the flat earth videos on YouTube a while back, and to be honest some of the arguments flat earthers make are slightly compelling, though not convincing, and my research into flat earth theory was purely for entertainment and curiosity.
That being said, there are (at least) 2 questions I've found that no flat earther has been able to answer. I've asked these questions in the comments section of 6-10 YouTube videos.
1. If the earth is flat, and we're on a flat plane, why is the moon upside-down to someone who is standing on the southern hemisphere? It should be right side up for everyone, unless people in the southern hemisphere are literally standing upside down on the bottom of a sphere, looking at the moon which retains its original orientation in the sky.
2. Where do tides come from? If the sun and moon are flat, and the same size (32 miles across and 3000 miles away) what causes tides? If it's still the moon causing them, why doesn't the sun cause them too?
So far I haven't gotten a single reply to these questions.

Update - Talk # 6 THE FLOOD OF NOAH’S DAY AND YOU
by ttdtt ininstead of scraping this talk they updated it.. so they still try and make this look like it happened, and that there is plenty of evidence.to do that they refer to the (w08 6/1 8) found at http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2008411the main evidence is that floods have happened in the past, including.... geologists studying the landscape of the northwestern united states believe that as many as 100 ancient catastrophic floods once washed over the area.
one such flood is said to have roared through the region with a wall of water 2,000 feet [600 m] high, traveling at 65 miles an hour [105 km/hr]—a flood of 500 cubic miles [2,000 cu km] of water, weighing more than two trillion tons.
similar findings have led other scientists to believe that a global flood is a distinct possibility.. i could not find such an event, except for remembering one of those "disaster" shows on discover about that.

I was gonna mention the catastrophic flood that resulted when the ice dam holding lake Missoula broke. (the last time) It's a subject that's pretty close to home considering I'm sitting in Missoula MT right now haha. In certain spots you can still see where waterlines once were on the sides of mountains, and there are other geological features that indicate this area was once underwater.
In the mid 2000s I flew commercial from Seattle to Spokane over the Washington desert/Badlands. It was obvious that a massive amount of water had rushed over that area at one point. I saw huge ripples probably a mile from peak to peak in the terrain like you would find on a sandy beach, and Delta type formations.
These features were pretty clearly defined and that (last) flood was supposed to have happened 10,000 - 14,000 years ago.
If the whole earth had been flooded a measley 4000 years ago, it would be blaringly apparent everywhere on the planet.

Thoughts
by thinker11 inas much as i want to believe in the bible and wish for a god that is watching over us and love us; i find it difficult to comprehend that a loving god will erase mankind with fireballs, earthquakes, and kill childrens, mothers, and fathers who refused to believe in the bible.
and i can’t help but to take their side in all these.
i mean: what has god really done to show that he is love and that he exists and is watching how we act.

Not to mention that this whole test was supposedly because Satan said humans could rule themselves and didn't need god. But from what the bible and JWs teach, God and satan never once left humans alone to try and rule themselves. From the very beginning of the Bible, you have them both meddling in human affairs trying to sway things their direction. Stories like the one about Job, which was basically just a bet, and God "hardening Pharaoh's heart", to even today, when JWs think Satan has control over every facet of government and religion.
What would that be proving? All it is, is a universal pissing contest between God and Satan. The very basis of their core doctrine is flawed, it makes zero sense.
And yes when the JW teachings crumbled, it took any belief in God or the Bible with it.

so, we have two intertwined articles concerning "anointed" individuals within the sect of the wtbts inc. "the spirit bears witness with our spirit.

How do the r&f not see what's going on here? I mean, its not even a picture of a kid with money going into the maze, its just a picture of a f*****g hand holding out money. How much more blatant can they get? They might as well just come out and say "We don't care about you, just put your money in the box, spend all your time trying to find other people to put money in the box, and don't complain about it". -

I found mine in my door today. I carefully wadded it up and placed it in the garbage can, but not before noting the time and date of the memorial so that when that time and date comes, I can reflect on how happy I am to not be sitting there listening to some idiot drone on about nothing.
