Oh no.... say it ain't so. Seriously? He wasn't adlibbing?
Every time I think I have a handle on a good bit of a topic, I get knocked over with another wtf scenario. When your brain is exploding it's hard to conceal the pain.
I am so worn out.
so, give me credit... .
last night i had a discussion on spirituality with my jw friend.
our last few conversations, i didn't have the hang of the "line of questioning that gets them to think" technique down.

Last night I had a discussion on spirituality with my JW friend. Our last few conversations, I didn't have the hang of the "line of questioning that gets them to think" technique down. The only question I found myself asking was "ARE YA' KIDDING ME????" at the top of my lungs.
Last night I stayed pretty calm and listened to the ridiculous stomach churning answers I was being given. I took part of the script from Steven Hassan's book and mentioned adherents of other religions having "the truth", being told that others in the world would not gain salvation - only they, the shunning policies of these groups as a direct result of questioning their leaders, the leaders being directed by God... I think that's it.
I then went into 1914 and asked how the leaders knew the JWs were chosen (yeah... I know, they got the message in in the 30s or 40s, but I didn't want to veer off as I have before). He talked about
the Israelites and how their leaders had been chosen and somehow likened it to the JWs,
the organization being structured as the Israelites and 1st Century Christians had been organized,
OH, and they uh.. prayed.
That's how.
I asked if it was possible that those in other religions were structurally organized and if they prayed. He said of course. *I did it... stay calm... just stay calm*
He then continued by saying that there were events that the Society understands that explains how the chronology works. I calmly asked him to try to explain it to me.
WHY DID HE THEN TELL ME THAT SATAN WAS CAST DOWN FROM HEAVEN IN 1914???????? I MEAN... FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. ISN'T THE INVISIBLE CHRIST THING ENOUGH?????
WAS HE KIDDING ME? IS THAT PART OF THE BELIEF OR WAS HE TRYING TO SOUND INFORMED AND MAKING THIS UP????
For those of you wondering, I didn't flip out. I just got REALLY sleepy and was done spending time with him.
i'm sure many of you have been wondering why the wts has stuck to it's adamant viewpoint of higher education.
let's settle it once and for all.
this will prove conclusively why it's in young people's best interests to avoid higher education.. candace conti has inspired hundreds, perhaps thousands of young girls across america to successfully take on the wts.
Steve 2 says, " Recovery is in no man's land - even the Watchtower would be embarrassed by his shockingly brazen defense of men who abuse girls."
I was kinda thinking he could get a job at Bethel as a writing supervisor once the supervisor who originally believed Recovery wasn't qualified is terminated.

Recovery asks, "Why are you so quick to scrutinize every WT article and every experience in the WT publications, but you can't take a realistic view of this case?"
Oooh oooh *with my "worldly" hand in the air*
Here's my answer:
Because the WT articles and experiences aren't based on verifiable truth but the Conti case was won on hard evidence?!?!
Did I get it right?!?
Oh, wait.... maybe you're not using the Socratic method of teaching I learned about when I took that Philosophy class in college....

So.... instead of going to college, girls should be encouraged to become sexual victims of Jehovah's Witness elders?
Yeah... this is definitely different than the worldly views I'm accustomed to...

Wth? Higher education and molestation are related????
whew.... and I thought 607BC was a doozy.
i have a jw family member who very rarely comes to see me.
rarely calls me.
but, now, for whatever reason is the time to see me.. first two minutes - i was deluged with him showing me the bible on a phone.
Aw... don't worry. I'm over 40 and my equipment has been medically shut down so if I become pregnant, I'll be recommending that even the atheists find a religion - FAST.
I've been successful in *fading* from the one of two blood family JW members I've met. Helped her with a legal matter and was outta there! Given what I've learned, I want as little exposure as possible to the two baptized JWs in his world.

I'm feeling the frustration just in talking to JWs.
So, if I marry my JW friend who knows my adopting this crap ain't happening, how do I receive this blessing of shunning?
Can a worldly receive this?
.
should we feel some sympathy for the governing body?
after all they have taken on thr reins of power over a corporation that has very bad,, dead end business stradagy based on a dellusional idea that the end of the world would come based on dates found or imagined in the bible,, a book about ancient deity worship with all its superstition about what make him angry and mad.. they have bought into this dellusion with their heart and soul,,they stand to loss big time now that the internet is here,, the internet is their satan and his demons on the net are taking aim..
I've been in the legal field for almost 20 years. I believe Kurtbethel is absolutely right. Even though the articles are written at an elementary level, they are very cleverly crafted. Articles from years ago appear to have been more reckless.
I suspect sites like these heavily influence content decisions.
the aug. 18th 2012 edition of 'the economist' reports:.
"efforts are under way in the legislatures of arizona, illinois, new york, florida, wisconsin, minnesota, colorado, pennsylvania, ohio and california (again) to extend statutes of limitations, according to jeff anderson, a lawyer who represents many victims of abuse.".

People are disgusted about the recent Sandusky case. The last thing a legislator wants to do is create the appearance of being soft on any issue that leaves a child unprotected now.
Statutes in PA are based on the victim's 18th birthdate.
If a victim turns or has turned 18 on or after August 27, 2002 they have up until their 50th birthday to file criminal charges.
If I remember correctly, the statute before that stated that charges had to be filed before their 30th birthday so anyone born before August 27th, 2002 MAY be bound by the 30th birthdate mandate. There may be ways around this, but you'd have to contact an attorney or advocacy group for details.
I am REALLY hoping that the Sandusky trial will encourage victims to file. They deserve justice.
I've been told the WTS DIScourages JW to JW lawsuits (to put it mildly, I suppose). Victims have already lost their innocence. Between public humiliation and losing the support of their families, I can't even imagine the courage required to find justice for JWs.
