i try to keep my hands clean regularly and stay away from areas and people that i know are sick.. i have never gotten a flu shot and i do know that many that do get one, get the flu anyway.. still, the flu is considered very very bad this year..

I made a terrible non-jw error.

My jw friend was pressuring me to get my shot (which I have no aversion to). I believed it to be a teachable moment for WT quotes of concern and now he is considering not getting one ever again. If this man dies of the flu, can I just tell you how I will feel?

In the 20s it was barbaric... Currently its a matter of conscience.

They're unable to make the same outrageous claims they have in the past now that the articles are in Satan's view (the internet). Within 24 hours of publishing, an interested party can retrieve a full commentary on the spiritual vomit that the WT posted and the commentary ends up being more exciting than the article.

I have to wonder if this was a contributing reason for the reduction in pages/larger margins/larger font/reduction in substance (meat). Their writers have to feel like they're in a corner.

I don't know if the poster is a non-JW, but I remember feeling as though I needed practice before talking to my real JW friends of 30 and 15 years respectively. It's a confidence thing. Now? I'm realizing they don't know CRAP!

Also, I kinda felt like... "HEY you guys come to ME with this - I don't come to YOU! I have a right to ask you as many questions as I want... If you have the truth, prove it! Otherwise, maybe you should reconsider knocking on doors until you're sure you have it!"

There's a sense of pride after doing research - especially for non-JWs who are sincerely trying to comprehend all of this. I remember wanting to share and wanting someone to listen. My non-JW friends could care less about JW beliefs so talking to them was pretty much a waste of time. JWs were MUCH more engaging and seem to appreciate my research more. *ahem* :)

I actually wish more non-JWs cared enough and had enough knowledge to challenge the door-knockers. I suspect the JWs would get sick of having to talk about Raymundus Martini and failed prophecies.
