I was asked what the elders thought/believed on this site.
i have served 20 years as an elder, 5 years as an ms. was on the district committee in 2010, held various positions on the district , circuit, and rbc level.
probably been on more than 100 judicial committees and even an appeals committee.
was the coordinator in our congregation and deleted because adult child was df ( i kicked him out at the time of his wrongdoing, but that wasn't enough for thr brothers).

(1john2:22,23)who is the liar if it is not the one that denies that jesus is the christ?
this is the antichrist, the one that denies the father and the son.
23 everyone that denies the son does not have the father either.
The amount of Scriptures quoted from the OT in relationship to the ones quoted from the NT is very telling of that. We are much more 'Jehovists' than 'Christians'.
I can see that now.... I admire the the JWs knowledge of OT scriptures and stories. My knowledge of the OT is admittedly lacking.
In my world, practices and lines of thinking are based in large part on the NT scriptures. The NT opened up the promise of salvation of the Abrahamic God to those who were not of the Jewish faith. In short, the OT reflects accounts of the power of God and the NT helps with an understanding of what is going to be on the final exam. There's my synopsis - from start to finish. :)

I so enjoy you guys....
Jeffro: It's black and silver and yes, I had to redecorate my room around the color. Btw, I work as an IT Project Manager and I design applications for an agency that serves a population of 2+ million using Windows based platforms. I've had my iMac for 3 years and have never had a virus. It takes 37 seconds to go from a cold boot (off) to an internet connected site. At work, a network administrator protects us from the vulnerabilities of the Windows based challenges. I think I can make a pot of coffee while waiting to get to my internet connection on my brand new laptop... did I mention it's a gaming configured laptop (Dell-Alienware M18X)? I may know a little something about each platform.
Btw, I bought it to challenge myself after my PC committed suicide so I'd know something about BOTH environments. I wouldn't want to be accused of basing my opinion on what I heard about the other environment or anything... how silly would THAT be? *grin*
It obviously won't find publications that simply aren't on the disc . I'm going to assume you meant 19 50. There are no issues of The Watchtower prior to 1950 and no issues of Awake! prior to 1970 on the Watchtower Library CD.
Now THAT was an eye opener for my friend! He was troubled by the fact that the rest of the world had access to older publications and the JWs didn't. :) LOVED that. This is why I'm concerned that I'm confusing his not being able to find an article because of a date issue and possibly not a data inconsistency. Still looking....
And as to what JWs think or feel when you talk to them - I don't know. They stop talking to me after I start asking questions... despite what the first few pages of that little yellow book they make me read says about asking questions...

ADCMS: I wasn't left with the impression that Eden was addressing the claim with respect to the numbers. It appeared that he was addressing the numbers with respect to each other. EdenOne is still mathematically correct with respect to J, JC, and C but this leaves out the synonyms and pronouns.
Lastly, I said that I believed this quantitative comparison could not be used as a barometer. Unfortunately a qualitative analysis would have to be used in order to support the claim and even that leverages subjective reasoning.
In my conversations with JWs, they seem to assure me that, as Christians, they follow Christ JUST like it says in the Bible (that they admitted to not having time to read)... *sigh*
So, I'm agreeing with you in part!

I do understand the OPs goal but unfortunately this criteria cannot be used as a barometer. You'd have to read every reference and determine Christ's status - even that type of evaluation would be subjective.
Jeffro, I don't know about this being a myth. I might be wrong, but I seem to remember asking my JW friend to look something up and it not coming up. This was a couple of years ago so I may have been looking for him to find something else... maybe something pre-1050 WT or pre-? Awake? I'll try to find the example in my notes. I don't want to be embarrassed if I have the opportunity to pose this challenge to another JW.
Someone from the board was kind enough to mail me a CD but it's for a PC. I own a Mac so I'm unable to do this myself. :(

ADMCS: That's not EdenOne's point. Mathmatically, he is correct. If you referred to someone as "John", "Doe", or "John Doe", and you wanted to count the number of times they were referenced, you would use his mathmatical formula of reducing the total by the number of times the individual's full name was used. That's all he's saying....

Given the statement reflected by the OP (who, to my knowledge may not have been the creator of the website he referenced) and Jeffro - both simply searched for "Jesus." I agree with EdenOne on the mathmatical calculation of those nouns. But counting raw data? there are other factors... what about synonyms to Jehovah? What about the pronouns... would they count?
Most unfortunately, the number of mentions cannot be used as a barometer of the magnitude of Jesus' significance in the Watchtower. The WTS could write a paragraph like the following:
Jehovah is greater than Jesus Christ. Christ was the archangel Michael making Him not as significant (no scriptural reference here). Christ said his Fatherwas greater than Himself. Christ said He was powerless without his Father. So, the mature Christian would reasonably conclude that Christ was less thanHis Father and Christ should not be honored in the same light. (please ignore John 5:23)
I don't know that assessing the numbers would reveal truth here....
Just curious - on the search feature of the WTS CD, does it distinguish "Christ" from "Christian", "Christianity", and "Christians"?
Does encircling the word with quotes provide a different result? AND, I thought I read that sometimes the CD fails to find certain articles (ahem) even when the search criteria is accurate.... I'm sorry, I can't give an example off the top of my head - but I could have sworn I read that somewhere.
