  okay so i'm dating a born-in jw woman, she's younger than me and has no kids.

  Why would anyone become so involved emotionally with a JW? If they are not a JW?

  I, as a non-JW, can say that it's because of our frame. In that which we know, there's an acceptance of interfaith relationships and other perspectives. That's why I'm suggesting that he attend a couple of your services. He will CRINGE when he hears the things that are said for the words and constructs of a superior denomination are foreign to us.

  Non JWs have no idea... if they did, the reception at some doors would go a whole heck of a lot differently.

  It sounds like you attend church. For an eye-opener and to REALLY evaluate what you're getting into, I implore you... go to at least three meetings at a Kingdom Hall.

  You HAVE to hear how they speak of us as non-jws. Forget the apostate stuff... Jonza, they are told to hate/distrust ANYbody who is not a JW. I promise you. You will hear the insults fly and you WILL feel like you've been punched in the gut several times. These aren't nice meetings. The most frightening aspect for me was listening to those in the audience around me in total agreement with the speaker. Sermons on unconditional love are foreign to her.

  Once you hear what she hears, you'll have a better idea of what to discuss with her.

  once you start viewing "worldly" people as people, just like yourself and everyone else, you can't help but to be filled with love and appreciation.. i read this scripture today and liked it :.

  james 3:7-9 - for every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue.

  well, i stumbled across this article here, that contains lots of so-called 'facts' and 'figures', i'm sure glad i read my wt first so i can recognise that this is nothing but lies, all lies.. .

  i have been dropping comments to a few re some classic old beliefs and teachings etc... and when asked "where did you read that, or how come you are saying such and such?

  " i have replied "well, you remember we have often been told to study and research our old 'theocratic history' and 'old gems' of material?....

  now though i have been challenged to prove where this has been printed!.

  14 Minutes and you are not a Servant of Jehovah

  last night we were discussing the "new light" that was revealed to the gb recently from jehovah.

  many of us recall all the co talks and elder parts based on the bible text of how a true servant of jah would not be "inactive or irregular" for years one was required to have at least one hour to be considered a servant of jah.. as the sec in my hall i recall so many times calling up friends to get thier time and hearing them break crying cause they didn't have 60min only about 45min- and they knew that it meant they were not servants of jah.

  now with the new light from jw a person with only 14 minutes of time will now be disqualified as being a servant of jah.. it is amazing how many jw will view this arrangement as a "loving provision from jah" instead of realizing that thier service to thier god has been reduced to whether they get 15min or 14 min.

  oh joy of joys my sad is tomorrow.. i will be taking notes, but of fallacies used, outrageous demos, contadictory statements etc.

  i will share my thoughts here.

  the good part of this was a cancelled midweek meeting and the fact its only one day.. .

  I wonder if they'll have that demo where the brother turns down a promotion because he's worried it will interfere with his meeting attendance?

  Amazing. I've only been to 15 meetings and I've already seen this doozy.

  As a non-jw I have a lot more leeway so, with a confused look I turned to the stranger next to me and asked , "So... why doesn't he go to another mid-week service at another Hall that offers a daytime service?"

  Annoyed, she retorted, "We don't have service in the daytime and it's because he has to go where he's assigned!"

  A few seconds later, I responded, "Why doesn't the Watchtower provide services during the day? The Vatican does. And about this assignment, if you're all saying the same thing, what difference does it make to God if you go on a different day?"

  I was promptly hushed.

  how long will it be before many of the current teachings peculiar to the organization are rejected as old light and relegated to watchtower's dust bin of old light, out-of-print literature to be expunged from future issues of watchtower library cd-rom?.

  Thinking about meeting with the elders...might record, any tips for hiding a recorder?

  ive been speaking with my wife and she feels that its the honest thing to do and just meet with the elders and tell them my thoughts and doubts.

  not to rejoin but da if i want.

  "Scriptural" Baptism

  i was told that jws baptize in the name of the father, son and the holy spirit.

  i asked if it was done exactly as stated in the bible to be sure i was hearing the answer correctly.

  the response i got was "yes!
