I'm actually going out of town this weekend - 7 hours away. Don't know if I want to spend my vacation in a KH. :(

Okay. I'm not borrowing a car for this. I'll take mine. Not exactly "modest"... but oh well....
Black dress/black heels... always works. I only have higher heels. I'm only 5'2" tall so they won't notice the height of the heel.
It would be completely natural for me to not know what to call their "church." *ahem* And I'm sure I will enjoy their "worship service."
Um... notebook? Bookbag? That would be VERY unnatural for me. Maybe I can put a small notepad in my purse for notes, but I don't want to look like I'm putting them under investigation... are you telling me that others will be carrying these items? I hope not. A lot of churches have Bibles in the pews so I leave mine at home. Are there Bibles and songbooks in the pews? ... guess the songbook won't matter since I won't really know the tunes.
I'm probably going to look like a goof.

New JW Apologist here
by Christ Alone ini was a jw for a lot of years, like many of you.
i wanted to try an experiment and try out my jw apologist chops.
since we have such a hard time finding a jw apologist that can argue well, i thought i'd give it a whirl.

Oh this is cool... going to look for the thread.
Maybe I can play the "mildly informed cause she has a friend who's a JW" householder!

"Which topic would you like to see a JW discuss most?
Sweetheart, many have JWs they love and care about to discuss JW matters with, at least I do.
Personally, I have no questions for you that I cannot find using google.

Okay, I'm sorry.
Ethos, many on this forum have looked at these topics from 360 different degrees and have reached the same or similar conclusion(s) and we all have very different backgrounds (mine is non-jw).
Conversely, the JWs I know seem to claim ultimate superiority and command of these topics based solely on what the WT literature provides them. If WT logic is all you have to provide, I'm thinking you're wasting your time and everyone else's.
Maybe I'm not clear on your goal. What's your goal?

I thought this was covered this in my tipping point thread? Everyone has a different tipping point. It all depends on what's important to you.
I mentioned that it seemed many were HERE because they had found theirs. You said yours was the Trinity. I'd recommend you research your own topic of interest before you get creamed by the crowd again.

Do JWs Still Feel The Need To Understand Their Teachings Or Have They Pretty Much Abandoned That Idea?
by minimus ini think most jws do not know how to explain their religious beliefs.
i don't think they could explain their views of 607 b.c.e.
, 1914, any prophetic bible books, the old vs. the new fds understanding, the blood fraction reasoning, etc.. do you think the average witness is able to explain from the bible why they believe things as they do?.

I will never forget the night I was at a friend's house asking he and his family members about 607 BC. With each question I asked, I watched as "this book" was retrieved from the third floor and then "that book" was retrieved from the second floor and brought down. The "other" book was in the kitchen, ... or was it in the living room?.... "check the living room!" The table was piling up with everything from searchable CDs stuck in laptops that were slower than a herd of snails travelling through peanut butter to huge dusty books that were as old as Caesar.
I sat there with just my ESV Bible and watched the show. If I didn't know and love them, it would have been a Saturday Night Live skit for sure. Instead, I felt really badly for them.
As one of the party was running from floor to floor, I entertained my tablemate with questions about Christ being "a God" but not a true God or a False God and not a God that was made before the True God or after but kinda after cause He was some "other" god... but not the Almighty God. I made the mistake of pointing out the label of Almighty in reference to Jesus in Isaiah and Revelations... that prompted more books. I'm talking BOOKS - not those flimsy magazines... straight-up bonafide hardback BOOKS! WITH AS MANY PAGES AS THE BIBLE!
I honestly couldn't believe the fiasco. And yes, when the Bible didn't support the teaching?... ALL one had to do was find the book so that *we* could understand why my understanding of the Bible verse was jacked...
Forget what was in the Bible, THEY JUST HAD TO FIND THE BOOK!

Wondering if this is the same production company that has produced "Breaking Amish." I and my friends who I've talked to about the JWs have had many conversations about the correlations since this series started. The similarities seem to be dead on.
I remember one scene where the kid who was questionning his faith had to eat at a folding tray table by himself in the same room with everyone else. His sisters and mom wouldn't really talk to him. It was strange to watch.
Us "worldlies" are sincerely confused by the practice of shunning.

I am sooo curious.
Okay tell ya' what. You guys want to do this together?
If so, let's start with these two decisions:
Hall Selection
Thinking I could say I was visiting in the area and wanted to attend "church" and realized I had never attended their type of "church." Uh-oh... Does my race play a role in my selection? Should I stay within my racial confines?
Transportation
Hmm.... modest. Would anyone care about what I'm driving?
