That sweet, tingling feeling...
by MsGrowingGirl20 inthat sweet, tingling feeling you get, no matter how hard life is at the time, when you remember that you're free.
that feeling reminds you that it's okay to not be sure about everything and it's okay to love persons even if they don't read the same literature or hold the same views as you.. it's okay to make mistakes because the people who love you will not pull back their love and association because of it.. the persons who are around you genuinely love you and are not just trying to portray 'love' because it looks good to 'potential' sheep.. it's even okay to try new things and it isn't a bad thing when you're actually enjoying life.. i don't have to try to be someone that i'm not and my worth is not, not.... my worth is not measured by a number on a piece of paper.. i can go through life at my own pace and i can be different.. that feeling reminds me that i can be myself!.
i know that you get that feeling also.

These pictures are very interesting to me.

The Bible Truths of the Watchtower Corporation were really a commercial fraud supporting the distribution of the organization's literature
by Finkelstein inone thing should be brought forward in all respect to truthful honesty is that the wts.
self proclaimed doctrines were fraudulently devised and created to attract the attention from the public eyes and mind.
in a way the wts.

Found it! And, I can say with absolute certainty that in my research into cemetery ownership a couple of these companies listed on this site definitely existed.
http://jwdivorces.bravehost.com/russell.html
Edit: Here is the paragraph...
In 1879 (PROCLAIMERS BOOK inaccurately says 1887) , right around the time that he started publishing ZION'S WATCH TOWER magazine, Charles Taze Russell formed TOWER PUBLISHING COMPANY, a sole proprietership, for the obvious purpose of publishing ZION'S WATCH TOWER magazine, tracts, future books, and other literature authored by himself. After the founding of Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society in 1881, all literature and other "products" distributed by ZWTTS were purchased from Tower Publishing Company . Charles Taze Russell, via his ownership of Tower Publishing Company , owned everything of financial consequence which most people assume belonged to ZWTTS -- including the Bible House headquarters building and all inventory. Literature was "distributed" in the name of ZWTTS , but ownership was nothing but a "paper transaction" . Whatever money ZWTTS received from sales or donations was paid to TPC for literature that was again sold or given away by ZWTTS . In 1891, Charles Taze Russell even stated, "The Society owns nothing, has nothing, pays no salaries, etc." In 1895, Russell published in the August ZWT that Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society was NOT formed as a "religious" organization, but rather was a "business association" , which had "no creed or confession" , whose main function was to receive donations from those who wanted to help Russell spread his version of the gospel, and then to spend those donations -- which was done by purchasing Russell's literature from Russell's Tower Publishing Company . One interesting point that should not be missed is the fact that, in practice, up until 1898, most if not all "donations" , at least the one's of significance, were being directed to Tower Publishing Company and ZION'S WATCH TOWER magazine, both of which were personal holdings of Charles Taze Russell, rather than ZWTTS . (There was no I.R.S. back then.)

I read somewhere... maybe on this site not sure... that Russell owned the publishing house that printed his own publications!
So, he set up a manufacturing plant that printed publications (he was part owner and this entity was separate from the Zion Watchtower blah blah blah company), created a religious theory and wrote publications to support said theories, sold the publications to interested parties and paid his own company for the production of said publications.
Seweeeeet, huh?

New magazine Carts
by jonno12225 innews from my wife from the recent meeting is that our congregation will be recieving 2 new magazine carts for market witnessing.
we live in a small market town in north yorkshire and have regular street markets.. the congregation is small (75+ publishers, -1 now) so it seems that this is being rolled out pretty conprehensivly now to all congs.
i still have no info as to whether each congregation has to purchase these from the hq or costings per unit..

Does the WTBS emphasize these two verses for control?
by cog_survivor insomething i came to understand that the worldwide church of god did effectively was to cut people off from from their feelings and intellect in favor of the "appropriate" thoughts and feelings.. how they did this was by frequently emphasizing these two verses:.
proverbs 3:5 - trust in the lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.. jeremiah 17:9 - the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?.
by means of these two verses i was taught not to trust myself with regards to either my ability to reason or if my gut was telling me something was wrong.. i was wondering if these two verses were emphasized for jws as well..

Cog! That's the Korean cult, right? My best friend has recently lost a niece to that cult!
All: My friend and I were making comparisons a few months ago. Her college graduate niece is required to live with 4 other cult members in an apartment. I was sick listening to the control they're exercising over this child. They've blocked ALL of her free time.
Congratulations on getting out Cog! How long were you in? and out of curiousity, were you recruited from a college campus?

I can't wait to see the Brother who promised me a return visit about blood - that was almost a year ago I think
One elder told me he was going to go to the library and get me my answers on 607. I'll be looking for him for sure...
I'm told that there are Witnesses who stand on a corner by a 7-11 every morning holding magazines. I'm not a morning person, otherwise I'd find and ask THEM if THEY have time to go to the library.
If they "roll" out this idea, these poor folks really ARE sitting ducks.

God and the Super Bowl
by Christ Alone indid anyone notice the frequency that god was mentioned during the super bowl?
i was impressed.
with the rampant atheism here, sometimes it's easy to forget that belief is still very strong.

God loves the Steelers. That's why they remain the only team in the NFL with six rings.
Some have life stories that have made God a part of our reality. I, for one, have experiences that were definitely not coincidence.
Too sleepy to tell them... sorry.

"Church" Music
by NeverKnew inplease frame this for the non-jw here.... yesterday, i was in the car with a jw friend as miscellaneous tunes from my ipod were playing.
a "church" song came on that i love.
this song makes me think of him in that he has told me "jehovah has been with me in some of the worst times of my life" and that he "doesn't want to leave jehovah.

I was a classical flutist and played at churches for the holidays when I was in high school to make extra money. Listening to a flute and organ with candlelights burning is really peaceful. Heck, if anyone has ever heard a pipe organ LIVE and played well, it's absolutely amazing. I listen to chants and spa music too!
Swinging to the other end of the spectrum, when I need to get my chin up, I listen to Black Gospel music. I LOVE those choirs... :)
