My mothers idea of home school involved me getting a full time job and paying rent.
YIKES! OH NONI, you deserve HUGE accolades for what you've accomplished! THATTA GIRL!!!!
so, in 2010 i recived my ged with the goal of going to college and getting a degree.
in the mean time i have been an active member of my schools honors program and have finished all of the requirements for graduation from the honors program.
they were 15 credit hours of honors classes, 12 hours of volunteer work in my community, and 16 hours of cultural activites offered by the honors program.
My mothers idea of home school involved me getting a full time job and paying rent.

i'm trying to come up with "dumb householder" queries for if i'm ever graced with another door-knocking jw.. if i were to say, "are you the ones who believe in 2 gods," (in reference to christ being "a god" in john 1:1) would i get an answer other than "no"?
i'm not asking what my response subsequent to the answer should be.
i'm cheating and asking what they'll tell me off the tops of their heads since surely they've been asked this before.. .

some background here; non-jw family members who are overly respectful and protective of the jw's.. i thought i might try a completely different tactic.
what are your views on my letter below?
i thought i'd let it sit with her for a couple of weeks or more before following it up .
So, as a life-long non-jw, I'd like to give you my unsolicited advice. Your approach ain't gonna work.
In our world, there is a serious disdain for individuals who rail against other denominations, ESPECIALLY those under the domain name of "Christian". Romans 14 is taken quite literally.
If you want to get a non-jws attention with respect to the inner-workings of the real WTS a different approach is necessary for that which is important to JWs may not be important to non-JWs.
For starters, telling non-JWs that JWs don't see anybody BUT JWs as being loved by God ought to get some attention. LOL
the first intro paragraph for todays wt study (may 15th, 2013 pg.
24) reads as follows:.
by and large, christendoms churches have distanced themselves from gods name.
GOOD CATCH!
i am just wondering how many here have gone through the experience of being disfellowshipped and divorced?
i am currently in that situation and sometimes i am afraid of what to expect.
thankfully i have a good core of friends, but nonetheless i still find myself somewhat nervous of what to expect in my new life.
Free, I have great news...
The answer to your primary question of whether you'll find people who are willing to try to understand your issues is yes. :)
I'm a non and never have been JW and there's a few of us here - probably because of experiences with other JWs who were in our lives. Not only am I interested in those who are like you, but I am fascinated by this group who I never knew existed like this. My heart goes out to all who are facing this awakening but, because of my experiences, my hands, heart and help will be extended to anyone who crosses my path who speaks of a JW exit.
Yes, there are others like me. :)
Also, see friends as people who contribute to the expansion of your thinking and perspective who also accept yours - however flawed you may think it is. It is yours. You may be surprised to learn that most in the world are not as critically judgemental as those within this faith seem to be. Also, try not to confuse judgement with a strong opinion. Some may have a confidence that you may not have right now.
i am going to be unplugged while i gallivant around europe for a while, which means there will be one person short of holding up the conservative banner on this site.
so you can all pile on your leftist views of society, obama, health care, benghazi, irs, union thugery, socialism, redistribution of wealth, racism, sexism, gay marriage, right wing conspiracies, talk radio, fox news, wall street, the national debt, the educational system without my counterbalancing your neurotic views.
but i do love you non the less by brothers and sisters.
Now Snare, I have to quote a very good friend of mine in reply to your parting shot...
He has EVERY RIGHT to be wrong.
*giggling*
Sincerely, Jomavrick, have a good time. :)

But I do love you non the less by brothers and sisters. Chow
I guess I'm left assuming you mean "Ciao" and "none" the less.
Enjoy your trip.
And of course you are loved as well!
(and they wonder why liberals don't understand what they're saying)...
research has shown that " generally" the best way to challenge someone is to use their first name.
to me being addressed by my name " michael" and addressing someone by their christian name is more friendly than using a title.
i think it would also make it easier for elders to accept someones different point of view if they referrd to the brother by therir christian name.
I think their is an element of removing WHO you are, you are all anonymous and you should all be factory moulds of what the bORG expect. The removal of the name and insertion of brother/sister implies a separation to everyone else in the world, an identity of their own.
Even as an outsider, I have to agree with Snare&Racket. Yes, other denominations do refer to each other as "brother" or "sister" so and so, however, they also refer to each other using the first name only. It certainly isn't mandated. I remember my JW friend's surprise when shown a Catholic flyer with a reference to "brothers and sisters in Christ" on it. Given what I'm hearing, these titles become a part of the person's name once a part of the congregation.
In his mind, a person with the title "brother" or "sister" was worthy of much more love and respect than a "Mr." or "Mrs."
my brother's stepson, wesley reier, accidentally overdosed on drugs.
he is considered brain dead.
his biological parents have decided to put him in a nursing home, where he will remain for the rest of his natural life.
Aw, StAnn, I'm sorry to hear that.
I believe He's already taking care of Wesley.
Does he have any children or siblings?
I'm praying for those around him - including you.

"Time out!" says the life-long non-jw. I totally respect your intentions but given their perceptions and belief systems with respect to railing against other denominations coupled with their ignorance of the formation and doctrines of the organization, they are unable to hear you from this direction. If someone quoted these scriptures, I'd really side with the JWs!
Do you want to know what elements woke me up? :)
