The disfellowshipping is another way they show no faith in God. I had asked a pastor why none of the churches do this and his answer was faith in all its sense. He said they don't have to do this. All you owe anyone is love, disfellowshipping and shunning isn't love. Besides that, if someone was truely evil, they wouldn't feel comfortable in a church or around christians, God would see to that. He also says nothing bad about JWs, but does say that all religions, since there is no direct contact like Moses' day and Jesus' day, will all have human error in them.

Do JW's really 'trust in Jehovah'????
by DannyBear injw's claim to trust their god jehovah implicitly.
they fervently preach, teach, publish unending articles about god's protection, even baptising converts who have sworn an oath to jehovah and his "representitive organization" .
they believe unreservedly that god takes a, moment by moment, active role in watching out, taking palpable action on behalf of jw welfare.

yeah I got your email. what library card? what are you talking about? I ran a copy off of that letter and my husband took it to the kingdom hall and gave it to the elders and they claim they never heard of any such thing before.

I did, and the link that I was given to link the WTS is what I went to. The WTS wasn't listed as associating with the UN movement. So where is this information coming from?

Welcome, I just left the org. There were some that made an effort to shun me before I even left, turning their heads, avoiding eye contact, not saying hi or acknowledging me no matter what nice thing I would say to them, like "Hi how are you, how have you been." All because I said I wasn't interested in starting bible studies with people. My personal reason was I didn't feel qualified. That was what sent me over the edge. The shunning is cruel. It goes on in the kingdom halls even when a person is an active witness, gets worse when they start intoverting from depression or other reasons. At work I worked with alot of them. They started treating me this way in front of the boss and other coworkers that weren't witness and making complete asses out of themselves. Fortunately by there own actions, all that was doing this was forced to learn manners. But since it is such a problem in so many congregations, congregations being clicks, that I heard a rumor that NY was going to send some "Spies" out to stomp the problem. Have you heard anything?

In the bible, Jesus does the last supper with his apostles. Some people call them saints now or annointed ones. He said do this in rememberance of me. How did it get to nowadays where JWs say its only the remnant that do this? Is it because he is just having a private discussion with his apostles? IF so, then when he says to the apostles, go making disciples, shouldn't it be just the appointed remnant or the ones overseeing congregations to do this also? He has been quoted as telling his people to teach their families but he never says to a nonapostle to go make disiples, or it would say disciples go make disciples. Don't the elders/ministerial servants get to put time in for every quick build, talks at the hall, paperwork for the hall, and time spent in meetings? I hardly ever see them out in actual service and I've wondered why they get so much time. This I don't think is right either, since they aren't out making deciples. And, I haven't seen them bring in many new members either. In the congregation that I quit, the only elder that did bring in new ones they ran him out. Please, if you are going to quote a scripture, make sure that the whole chapter backs up that one scripture. There are too many people just quoting a scripture with another one from another place and then when I look it up, there is nothing in the chapter that backs up the meaning that the person is trying to point out.

If Im NOT JW, what can I be?
by Sirona ini have a jw friend who said to me "i'd be interested to know if there are any other religions that teach what jws teach".
after the post on "food for thought" which gave details of modern day bible students, i thought i'd ask the question:.
what religions are there that either have similar roots to the jw religion, or that have similar teachings?

Jehovahs witnesses, in the divine purpose?
by sleepy innotice my watchtower style title?.
i've just been rereading the book " jehovahs witnesses in the divine purpose " from 1959.. its an ealier book recounting the history of the organisation.. i don't belive many jw's will have seen or read it, besides they have a new "history" book to read .. being more familiar with the history of the witnesses has made me realise how biased and misleading this book truely is.. here are some quotes from chapter 14 "reorganizing for active service service".. those who know about jw history will notice the slants and misleading statments straight away , but i'll try to explian some of them for anyone new.. in preparing the reader for explaining the changes rutherford made to the religion after russell's death it tells us;.
"when the society began to be freed for further preaching work following ww1 they realized they had been held in spiritual bondage too in many ways.

Thank you both for posting this information. I had no idea that they were so way off base. Sounds to me like they have this compulsion to unravel the mysteries and signs to justify their need to control the members. Or am I off base here?
If they just stuck to the basics, I might have stayed. I have an elderly aunt that left the org after Russel died. She claimed it was still a loving org when they celebrated with family, but that when they started the extreme separating she felt they were being to controling which = unloving. I always wondered what she ment by that. Now I know. Thank you again and please post more or email me on more of what it was like when they first started out. Maybe another religion will come up calling themselves Russelites or something. I like having the freedom of love and fellowship with our loved ones. I'll never go back to being one of Jehovah's witness.
