I have heard that dating couples should not sit together at the meetings until engaged but everything else you mentioned sounds excessive. I agree with slim, sounds like the parents are enforcing the extra rules.

Extreme rules on Dating – is this for all congregations?
by Bonnie_Clyde injust found out that in the congregation we used to attend there are two young brothers, both are sons of elders and recently engaged to girls in neighboring congregations.
instructions are that they may not sit together at assemblies or meetings.
but get this….they can’t even ride in the same car even if their parents are also in the car.

We are imperfect
by HereIgo ini can't tell you how many times i have heard this while growing up as a witness.
every time i questioned hypocrisy in the org i was told " well we are imperfect" and its was beyond annoying.
at what point does "imperfect" turn into just not christian?

At what point does "imperfect" turn into just NOT Christian? At what point are witnesses accountable for what they do? What is a good response for that situation when told that?

Appealing a DF decision
by HereIgo ini always found it interesting that one could appeal a disfellowshipping....if jehovah doesn't make mistakes, then there wouldnt be a need to "appeal" anything to begin with right?.

Are Jehovah`s Witnesses of today, aware, or even care about their early history of the 1800`s ?
by smiddy inin the 1960`s when i was a new convert , a 20 year old , i devoured the book "jehovahs witnesses in the divine purpose" outlining the early history of the restoration of true christianity in the world.it helped to convince me then that this was indeed the true religion......not that i remember much of the details it contained nowadays .. i understand there was a poor attempt to mimic it with the " proclaimers " book a much sanitized version of the early history of the jw religion.
what reputable organization in the world ,secular ,religious or otherwise ,doctors their own early history/ beginnings unless they have something to hide or are ashamed of.. how many jw`s today would know that they were formed as the " international bible students association" in the late 1800`s , or that their first president of that association was none other than w.h.conley ,and not c.t.russell.. does it even matter ?
does anybody really care ?.

I doubt many of JW's even know their history or even care. I can say this because I didn't know diddly squat about our history while I was in. I know more now that I am out! All I really knew was CT Russell founded JW's and used to be called bible students in the 1800's when it all began. I have tried having conversations about the history and asking elders and CO's questions without coming across as suspicious. One CO said " CT Russell was just a tool to spead the word, that's it" and he then moved on to another subject. I don't think they really want to distance themselves from their early history since many of it contradicts what they believe today, such as celebrating holidays etc and digging too deep may cause some to seriously question their teachings which they don't want.....

How many of you know about this San Diego mansion? I just found out about it recently. Apparently it was built for old testament faithful men to live in upon resurrection in 1925 such as Abraham, Moses etc. and Rutherford was behind the construction and idea of it all. Isn't he responsible for a lot of the current WT teachings and protocol? Makes you wonder just how much of Rutherford's ideas were BS and how much of an influence he had on many of JW weird ways.

Hypothetical: If WTS Reformed...?
by Cold Steel inas i said in the subject line, this is purely hypothetical.
what do you think would happen if the wtbts leaders decided to reboot some of the organization's more controversial practices.
not that they would deny their claims to be jehovah's earthly representatives, nor the key elements of their eschatology; but in administrative outlooks.

I think reform would actually cause more jws to question the WT further

Which Org 'directives' did you blatantly ignore
by Tallon ini remember that we were always encouraged to let everyone at work know that you were one of jw's and therefore would not participate in any of their functions, parties etc.. this i outrightly refused to do.
my reasoning was that i was employed and paid to do a job and therefore my religious beliefs were a personal matter and therefore had nothing to do with my work.
secondly i had to work with these people.

Disfellowhsipped for 7 years...
by HereIgo ini remember around 2009, there was a scandal going on involving 2 families in my cong where the husband in one family was having an affair with the wife of the other family.
this resulted in pregnancy and subsequent disfellowshipping.
what was interesting to me though was a comment made by a co from the platform.

He was giving a talk and mentioned the DF arrangement and said if you cheat on your spouse you will be DF for 7 years ( He might as well of called them out by name!) Although, I don't condone what they did, how is a man qualified to put a time limit on a person's repentance? How is he qualified to decide when someone is forgiven? After all, didn't Jehovah forgive David as soon as he confessed to killing Bathsheba's husband and committing adultery with her?
