I regular pioneered for 2 years and never have actually converted anyone through the door to door work, In fact, I only knew a few individuals that joined this way. Most were born-in or at least had some type of family influence. I had several bible studies but they all got cold feet when things got serious and potential baptism was discussed. Looking back the entire experience was just a waste of time and meaningless. A lot of empty homes, coffee breaks and people uninterested in what we had to say.

How much do you think the internet has hurt JW growth?
by HereIgo inthe internet is what helped bring me and so many others out of this evil organization or at least confirmed our doubts.
i have to say, i have seen quite a few youtube videos recently of ex jw's secretly recording their interactions inside of different congregations, halls, etc and see how empty the halls are!
so many people comment on how the attendance is so low, far more emptier than when i was in 6 years ago, even on a weekday meeting.

Of course congregation size obviously varies by location, but still, there does seem to be a trend in lower attendance. Thoughts?

Governing Body Members Autographing Bibles
by HereIgo ini have an online ex jw friend who pointed out to me that she stumbled upon a may 15, 1999 watchtower that had pictures of governing body members autographing bibles for people.
i have no bound volumes or cd rom copies anymore so i can verify.
two things came to mind, if this is true:.

Drearyweather, thanks for the clarification. I wanted to verify what I was told before I ran with it. The whole autograph thing seemed a little far fetched but I wanted to make sure.

Hello all,
I have an online Ex JW friend who pointed out to me that she stumbled upon a May 15, 1999 Watchtower that had pictures of Governing Body members autographing Bibles for people. I have no bound volumes or CD ROM copies anymore so I can verify. Has anyone seen this??
Two things came to mind, if this is true:
How could men sign something that they did not write or create?
Isn't this worshiping of men akin to Idolatry? These men are treated like celebs.

When JWs Pray for Houston
by NJ501 inwhen i hear prayers given by brothers why do they only pray for other jws not all people??
i remember hearing a comment from my mother saying 4000 jws are affected by this...and i'm thinking yes that is sad but what about the tens of thousands other people affected?
too me it just doesn't seem right to just pray for jws but to pray for all victims.

JW's have always been rather selfish when it comes to helping others, praying for others etc. They feel they are the only ones of importance to God and the only ones that have God's favor. Hence the reason they don't donate to charity as all worldly people will soon be destroyed anyway.

I love heavy metal!!!
by ironsnake656 inprobably you noticed that my avatar is a photo of steve harris, bassist of iron maiden.
i have quite a few years that i started to listen this kind of music, even when i was in the jwland.
although it was a "no-no" in the borders of jwland, i knew a lot of brothers and sisters that listened and loved this kind of music.

yes, the elders definitely frowned upon metal but I still knew a couple of older bros that's listened to and loved metal, namely Metallica, Black Sabbath. -

Thanks for the feedback bro! I have never gone out of my way to nudge my Mom. I don't want to give her any reason to accuse me of being an apostate because I don't agree with the JW definition. However, when she has tried to bring me back to the "truth", I would bring up certain subjects that she had no interest in hearing, such as the ARC. That would pretty much end the conversation lol. But yes, it is always a rocky road.

Hi from England
by victimofdeceit inrecently quit being a jw because i realised that beyond armageddon i was going to be ruled by people who cover up child abuse, not telling the congregations by their letter where the money they donated in the box is going towards paying compensation for legal battles which they caused, and also i was bullied by elders and discriminated against for being homosexual, even though i am not practicing it.
it wasn't until i threatened legal action for a breach of confidence that the elders were deleted.
so through the media and my own personal experience, i realised that they were no different to corrupt businesses in the world.
