Blatant insensitivity? Who me?
That’s noting, you should have heard the phone conversation I had when Craig called me right after I made the post (he always calls me right after I make a post, that’s why I don’t post very often). I can yell at him, cuss at him, and smack him up side the head and he still loves me. I just can’t get rid of the guy no matter what I do. Craig just has too much time on his hands to think. If he was good at thinking it would be alright but he is still learning how to douche out his brain. I’m just helping him a bit. It’s my job.
It’s Alan’s fault. He gave Craig my phone number.

Just kidding buddy. I remember when this all went down. I was still married to the sister of the woman married to the cousin of the elder who was involved with all this. The whole family was a few bricks shy of a finished outhouse.

BTW, I am a professional illustrator and digital fine artist, not a graphic designer. They are two different things.

Ya wait a little while and the facts become clearer. It was civilian contractors trying to take equipment out to build up the levy. They called in saying they were taking on gunfire coming from the top of a couple of buildings. The cops came in and fixed the problem. It wasn’t a good day to be a bad guy. Sometimes it just doesn’t pay to be stupid.

They have not said they were army contractors for sure just yet. Until the facts are in roomers will abound. The facts should be more clear in a few hours. There is a lot going on right now and this is just one of the many situations being dealt with.

What is WRONG with people? (Looters, shooters, et al)

shot at.. looters are seeing an opportunity to take goods that will probably be destroyed or paid for by insurance anyway.
it's dirty and nasty and wrong, but i can live with it.

The government has to consider the cost before they send out any kind of military help. If they would have sent troops to New Orleans before the hurricane hit, it might have been at too high a cost just in case it wasn’t as bad as it really was. This government under the Mr. Bush has extended itself far beyond it’s allotted fanatical capability when it comes to the military.
I’m sure those who think he has done a good job as our head nut in charge just might see it a little different now. Seven thousand of the “closest” National Guard units to the disaster could not come to their aid quickly, because Mr. Bush had already sent them to Iraq. My son was told that he will be paid for his work there not by the federal government like usual, but he will be paid by the state of Oregon for his time in New Orleans. The fed’s just can’t afford it.
I don’t see the government not helping as soon as they could because of any race or fanatical status issue. But more because they have let an arrogant pampas red neck piss away a large portion of our military and tax money for his own personal ego filling needs to find weapons of mass destruction that were never there. The lying son-of-a-bitch!
Watching MSNBC all day with my son was a bit sobering, knowing he will be there sometime tomorrow afternoon right in the middle of it all to help where he can. What blew my mind were the “people” that were being shown on the news. They are in the middle of one of the biggest, if not the biggest, disasters in this country’s history. A hand full of people are being total assholes, but, the majority of the people are waiting, not fighting, not looting, and despite their desperate situation, they are helping each other cope. Blacks and whites together, crying, waiting, hoping and helping. All together.
As it has been said before, Americans are at their best when things are at their worst.
Help has not come as quick as it should have, because help is on the other side of the world watching all this on TV in their tents.
The incredibly strong, caring, and tolerant people of New Orleans and surrounding areas that were effected by this disaster are asking, “where’s the help”? I’ll say it again, the help is watching all this on their TVs in their tents half way around the world.
I am not a political person. Never have been. I do not post in political threads on this board because I have a tendency to be a little too of an in your face kind of person (sorry Simon) and I am really trying to work on that. But now, I just hope they impeach that son of a bitch Bush!
I’ll let you know what and when I hear about things from my son. He’s going to call me in a couple of days if he can.

My son is leaving for New Orleans in the morning with some members of his fire team. Besides the bulletproof vest, Kevlar helmet and m-4 rifle, they told him to bring some bug spray. His fire team might be part of those who will collect dead bodies when the water starts to recede.
They are afraid of the bug problem and the diseases that are sure to start spreading because of the contaminated water, dead bodies in it and humid climate. He volunteered to go. He said this is the kind of thing he joined the guard for, not to fight in Bush’s asinine war.
He is in a military police unit. I don’t think the looters will be looting for very long. There are well over 4,000 military police coming from all over the country that will be headed to the disaster area in the next two days. These guys have guns and bug spray and they know how to use them. My son is just one of them.
I just went to the store and bought him the bug spray.
