The authors of the New Testament are calling Jesus things like “ the word of the lord “ or “ the glory of the lord”. These are all just terms making reference to the visiible Yahweh of the Old Testament. The reason LORD is quoted and applied both to Jesus and god is basically they thought of as different yet the same manifestation of the same being.

What Name Does the New Testament Emphasize - Jehovah or Jesus?

it seems to me scripturally speaking, that jehovah's witnesses are emphasizing the wrong name.. it should be jesus, not jehovah.

I believe the ambiguous use of the tetragrammaton in the new testament is by design, not corruption.

I watched a lecture series called " the two powers in heaven " that kind of lead me to that idea. Interesting stuff.

Interesting comment regarding in person meeting attendance.

interesting remark i overheard today.

the physical attendance for the sunday meeting, in my local area, was 10. i tried to find out those on zoom.

i was told that the zoom attendees wasn’t mentioned.

My wife says are pushing about half of the pre pandemic highs. I think a lot of people are using the " safety " as an excuse to not attend in person. I think more than a few have made a run for it over the last two years.

Don't worry, the rest are faithfully watching at home on zoom.

i know there was a leak a few weeks back, but this really does seem to have come out of the blue.. the anomaly was the original decision.

it clearly had no basis in law or the constitution, and was a flimsy, ridiculous ruling.

Jesus is Michael the Archangel

Isn't there pretty much a word for a word description of Jesus in the book of Revelation that is the same as a figure in the book of Daniel ?

In the book of Daniel this figure calls upon the Arc Angel Michael in some battle in the spirt realm. It pretty much eliminates Jesus as being the Arch Angel Michael.

the expression "jehovah god" has always seemed strange to me.

even when i was a jw, i found the term awkward, and never used it myself.

both words are nouns intended to be synonyms of each other, unless the name "jehovah" is being used as an adjective, which is also weird.

The one that always bothered me the most was the use of the term " Heavenly father Jehovah ".

It was just pure dogmatic WT nonsense.

You have to completely ignore the plurality of god in the old testament and just assume Jesus is referring to his father by the tetragrammaton which no single copy of the new testament contains.

I have watched some more of this video and once he says we really don't hate babies, it doesn't seem that bad.

Still it is a perfect example of the pure loathing and contempt the average JW feels for the unwashed masses.

I can't wait to show to one of those witnesses carts downtown.
